  • "Our second Christmas at The Brambles, and once again we had a fantastic time."

As ever, the cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Nice enclosed garden and inside the cottage is roomy, with 2 sofas in the sitting room, nice large kitchen and dining area, downstairs shower room and both bedrooms large, with comfortable beds and each with sink and toilet. Lovely welcome goodies too. We and our dog, Lucy, had a lovely week and had time at Whitby, Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough and York, which are all close to hand. Pub in village very nice and friendly, and accepts dogs too. Nice to say hello to owner, Linda, too. Thank you and Happy New Year!

  • "This cottage is very old, full of character and charm."

It was spotlessly clean, comfortable, very well equipped I couldn't have wanted for anything. The kitchen/dining area looking out into the garden was lovely to relax in with a big variety of birds, especially a robin who came every day and sange his heart out. The dogs are perfectly safe and secure to be let out too. The owners are on hand for any problems or information. The location is brilliant with easy access to filey and other towns and beaches a short drive away. The Yorkshire wolds walk is literally on the doorstep. The cottage has a plethora of maps and walking guides. Highly recommend the Piebald inn a mile away in hunmanby for outstanding pies, 52 to chose from!!! The owners have recently installed air pump heating and are still getting used to how it works, I had to ask Richard to adjust the settings for my stay which he did straight away and without any issue, I was very pleased. I would love to return to the Brambles. The only negative I could say is there is some busy road noise from about 6.30am which I'm not used to but it didn't spoil my stay.

Thankyou for taking the time to leave feedback about your stay at The Brambles, we are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday. Just a note to anyone who is looking to book the Brambles: The cottage is on a lane, well set back from a road, which can get busy at times, but mainly during working hours. It is unusual to have disturbing levels of noise that early in the morning as was mentioned because in 5 years of ownership nobody has commented about road before. Also, the new heating system can be adjusted remotely by ourselves to a bespoke comfort setting to suit every set of guests. We will set it to be comfortably warm, but we are happy to raise or lower the thermostat by a degree or two to suit each set of guests. Being air source we have found it very capable of keeping the house warm Linda and Richard Property Owner

This cottage delivered comfort, cosiness and more. The lovely welcome pack was appreciated and the book about the cottage and local amenities was very useful. This cottage is warm cosy and relaxing. The village pub is well worth a visit and the walk to Filey over the Wolds Way blew away the cobwebs! So happy, we had such a smashing time. Thank you Richard and Linda.

The location is great for cliff walks and visits to nearby Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. The cottage is well equipped and full marks to the owners for taking the green route and installing a heat pump. We needed to use the extra convector heater provided at times but I'm sure they will adjust the heating as we go into winter. Thank you Linda and Richard.

Thankyou for taking the time to leave feedback The new heating system can be adjusted remotely by ourselves to offer a bespoke comfort level to every set of guests, as we don't live in the property we ask people to let us know if they require it warmer or cooler than temperature we have chosen, we can all agree everyone is different Property Owner

The property itself was immaculately presented with all the amenities to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The village and locals are lovely and made us feel so welcome which is an added bonus if you live in a city like ourselves! and only being a short drive into Scarborough, Bridlington or Whitby! The local pub “The Ship inn” was especially welcoming…. Owners and locals included us into their conversation and banter making us feel like we were part of their community which only added to fantastic time we had! Thanks Linda and Richard, we’ll certainly be booking again!

It has the perfect host, Linda, who was full of information and assistance especially when we left our dog food behind. The cottage is delightful, full of lovely things and the charm of it blew us away, it was like being a child again when we walked in and discovered the little staircase and lovely rooms upstairs. Downstairs was amazing and everything we needed was there. Musten is perfectly situated, close to Filey, Brid, Scarborough and Whitby. It has a pub called the Ship Inn that was about 40 seconds away, it did food and was a good old fashioned pub. Fantastic! Now we are home we want to go back immediately and stay forever! X

The Brambles has everything you need in a holiday stay. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by a large lounge with original beams and doors and a brick fireplace and then you go down into the kitchen to be surprised by this large extension to the kitchen with a shower room and w/c and french doors leading to this beautiful garden. Upstairs are two bedrooms beautifully decorated with onsuit w/c, the larger bedroom with the high ceiling is outstanding, and you come down the winding staircase back into the lounge. This cottage has everything you need and more. This cottage location is close to shops and Filey is just down the road. There is so much to do from this cottage location, and after a great day out exploring you know you can come back to The Brambles to relax. We have stayed in a number of cottages over the years and this cottage has to be in our top three we have stayed in and would stay here again when in this area. Thankyou Linda & Richard.

  • "Where do I begin."

...My mum and I stayed at the Brambles with our 2 dogs, Flora and Skye. It thoroughly surpassed all we could have expected. We instantly felt at home and comfortable....as did the dogs. We felt so at ease and it really was a home from home and we were very sad to leave. Flora and Skye loved the garden area and we felt comfortable that they were safely contained which meant they had their freedom to explore it and we had piece of mind. We were fortunate to have hot weather during our stay so were able to utilise the garden area to sit outside. The cottage is so lovely and you can tell that it is looked after and all the little touches provided make it the home away from home it is. This is down to the care and obvious love given by Linda and Richard, who live locally. We were fortunate to meet Linda, and she kindly directed us to a lovely walk that is just across the road from the cottage. We will certainly be returning next year and feel that we now would not go anywhere else as we haven't felt as comfortable or at home in other places we have been. All in all, we had a fantastic relaxing week and stay and would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone. So look no further for a beautiful comfortable cottage. You will not regret it.

The village is lovely too and extremely well placed for both coast and country walks, the local pub is very welcoming and provides a great hub for drinks and excellent food. Plenty of places to visit close by and although there's no shop in the village itself it didn't detract from out wonderful stay. We're highly likely to stay at Brambles again, it was virtually faultless with the exception of the 'interesting' stairs, but that can't be helped in such an old property. Overall we loved our stay and give it 10 out of 10.

We stayed during an extremely cold snap and the heating kept the house lovely and warm, and the open fire was a bonus. Everything was clean and comfortable and the host Linda was helpful and friendly and left us a lovely welcome package. We slept really well in the super kingsize bed and loved the kitchen/diner as somewhere to sit and relax. This is an old property, and therefore has it's quirks (steep, winding staircase, a couple of low doorways, beautiful fireplace and exposed beams) so do bear this in mind when booking - if you want to go looking for dust and the odd cobweb, you will of course find them in a property of this age with an open fire, but we had no complaints and would love to enjoy the property in the warmer weather with the large back doors open.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you thought our property was on the smaller side. We have had many families over the years who thought it was very spacious. Thank you so much for your lovely comments also and I am glad your dog had a lovely stay also. Property Owner

The cottage was comfortable, clean, tidy and well kitted out with everything you could think of needing. The cottage had everything you could possible imagine we have never stayed in somewhere so well equipped. So refreshing not to have to bring tea towels, bin liners, kitchen towel and cleaning products. The owners provided a lovely welcome tray upon arrival and was very helpful. She allowed us to park our car on her drive which was very handy. The cottage has a secure garden for dogs and the cottage is clean yet welcoming for pets. Quirky decor and little treasures all over the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Fantastic location for visits to Filey, Scarborough and Whitby. You definitely wont be disappointed. Fantastic place to stay. We hope to return again one day. Thanks very much Linda.

Beautifully appointed throughout with everything you could ever require to have a wonderful holiday. We loved the kitchen/ dining area which opened up to a gorgeous garden. The bedrooms are lovely and both have a small en suite toilet and sink which was very handy. There was plenty of room for our large dog. Directly opposite the back garden is a great county walk. All in all a perfect holiday cottage, we hope to visit again in the future. Linda the owner was friendly and helpful and is very passionate about the cottage which you can see from all the lovely touches and decor through out. The village of Muston is a delightful village with a great little friendly village pub called The Ship. We would recommend Hunmanby gap for a dog friendly beautiful beach with a great little beach cafe overlooking the shore.

To have a wonderful cottage like this in such a fantastic village like Muston, cared for by such a willing but unobtrusive owner as Linda is unique in our opinion. The big thing here is this a love thing first with Linda and a commercial venture second, she really cares for her guests, that is obvious. We were lucky to find this property last year,as now the secret is out, 2019 is virtually a sell out,the visitors book shows return visits up to 7 times!! This is just such a wonderful setting. Everything you could need for a holiday was available in the cottage which was spotless and very comfortable. A welcome tray was available on arrival which was most appreciated. The welcome tray was much appreciated - with Linda’s own hens’ eggs, dog treats, biscuits, tea, coffee and a jug of milk in the fridge. We have found it really comfortable. The enclosed garden is perfect for our little Spaniel and we have sat in the garden quite a few times. The owners let us park our car on their drive which was just opposite which was kind of them. We have visited many places - highlights are RSPB Bempton Cliffs (amazing sights of the nesting birds and certainly recommend going there), Whitby (we also went to the Abbey and had a trip on the steam train from Pickering to Whitby), and the nearby beach at Hunmanby was great to let our dog off the lead. All in all a super week!

The cottage was so well equipped. Everything one could ever need. So surprised to be left a bottle of Prosseco for my birthday, eggs from the hosts hen's and even a packet of chews for our dog. The cottage location was also super, being very quiet and peaceful. The bus stop for Filey, Scarborough or Bridlington was only two minutes walk, as was the pub. Unfortunately the kitchen was not in use until the Wednesday. The weather was extreme!y cold so it was necessary to supplement the central heating in the lounge/kitchen/ dining area wiping the electric heater. Linda, the owner, is a very helpful person, even took our heavy suitcase up the stairs to the bedroom for us. Very spacious cottage and well thought out with the furniture and quirky additions in every room. We had lovely warm open fires on most evenings, which made the cottage feel very cosy. The bed in the larger bedroom had been made into a Super King size which was very comfortable. The garden is nice and enclosed with garden furniture scattered around. The kitchen is very well equipped, more than enough crockery, cutlery, glasses, T towels etc. Tea bags, milk, eggs from Linda's own chickens plus dog treats left on a tray for us on arrival. We could not think of any improvements to what there was in the cottage. All in all enjoyed our stay once again at Brambles. About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Set in the magnificent Filey Bay, Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making it an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels and there is a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated and there are loads of family activities such as Alpamare UK waterpark, Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park and the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where all kinds of common and rare birdlife can be seen. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where you will find great beaches, a castle, the Rotunda Museum and the acclaimed Sea Life Centre. Other towns worth visiting close to Filey include Bridlington, Whitby, Hornsea and Saltburn, which all demonstrate the vibrancy of this picturesque North Yorkshire region.
