  • "Great location, comfortable bed, but flat needs some updating."

Like others we found the fridge noisy despite it being turned to its lowest setting, and fiddling with the bath taps to get the right temperature for the shower became annoying (not to mention mopping the bathroom floor afterwards due to the leaking shower head). We spent an amusing week guessing which ring would heat up on the hob when we turned a knob (the image beside each knob had faded too much); trying to turn the kitchen taps off sufficiently so they didn’t drip; wondering why the 'caution hot water' notice in the bathroom was beside the cold tap and what the 2 additional keys on the key ring were for! The location is wonderful and we had a good time exploring the city.

  • "Overall a very nice apartment and situated in a nice area on the river with all attractions, shops, pubs and restaurants within walking distance."

When we arrived we could not get the TV to work it kept advising " Weak Signal" this was reported on Saturday morning, later in the day I was advised someone would be out on Monday to sort this. Someone did come out, but unfortunately the TV was not fixed correctly as we were unable to get any of the basic terrestrial channels.(BBC, ITV, etc.) the channels that were available weren't worth watching. The shower is not the best as it is only a mixer tap over the bath, trying to get the water to the right setting a bit fiddly, the shower head is slightly damaged on the side and water spouts out over the screen and soaks the floor. Paintwork in the bathroom also peeling but this is more than likely caused by guests not switching on the fan when having a bath or shower (Maybe would be advisable to put a sign beside the switch).

I am so sorry to read about the problems you had with the TV. Woodsmill Management committee fitted new receiving equipment and all apartments experienced problems. I understand from them that the issues have now been resolved. I was advised by my local contact that they came out to assist as soon as you raised the issue. I've noted the other comments and thank you for those. I hope this didn't spoil your stay Property Owner

  • "Lovely comfortable bed slept well could do with a new kettle very grubby and needs descaling often the only downfall was no lift walking up 3 flights of stairs was horrendous shops and restaurants were close by which was great ."

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I'll make sure that a new kettle is in place as soon as possible. In terms of no lift, I'm sorry if you didn't notice that on the accommodation details when you booked but hope the stairs didn't spoil your stay. Best wishes. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful, warm and cosy apartment in the perfect city location."

Couldn’t fault the accommodation at all. However, we saw no mention on the Sykes website that this third-floor apartment has no lift, a fundamental piece of information that we think should be on the property details. Sadly, for us, this is a deal breaker for a second visit.

Hello Janet. Thank you so much for taking the time to do a review of my apartment. I'm pleased you found it warm and cosy. As you'll know, Sykes manages the listing so having read your review I checked and was appalled to find that reference to lack of lift seems to have been removed. I have no idea why and it certainly was not on my instructions. There were other small inaccuracies in the listing and I have this morning asked them to rectify their errors a.s.a.p. Once again apologies that you weren't forewarned. Property Owner

  • "Excellent location for exploring York."

OK apartment. Comfortable bed. Whole apartment shakes when bus goes past. Toilet seat very unstable. Fridge so noisy it affected our sleep.

I'm very sorry to hear of the issues you experienced in my apartment but I'm pleased that you enjoyed the location and the comfortable bed. I will get the toilet seat looked at. I suspect that a previous guest has turned the fridge up a little high. Skeldergate is not on a major bus route but yes, buses do pass by the building, though they do not start too early or finish too late. Property Owner

  • "Lovely stay away in the flat!"

Perfect location for getting into town, to the station and into the countryside. Great walk along the river - closer than it looks from the photos. Sainsburys local just round the corner and a well - stocked flat. Would definitely stay again!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review the apartment. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay and found the apartment well stocked and in a good location. Your comments are very much appreciated. Property Owner

  • "Excellent location to explore the city of York."

Clean, comfortable and welcoming with supply of tea/coffee etc that lasted the duration of our break. Lots of steps so not for those with mobility issues - but perfect for sitting on one of the two balconies to enjoy views over the city and a tiny bit of the river. Would definitely recommend.

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at the Woodsmill Quay."

The location was excellent. Just a short walk to all attractions, shops and restaurants. The bed & pillows were very comfortable. Slept very well. Great facilities, but please include iron, ironing board and hairdryer on website so others don't have to pack them. Would recommend.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do a review. I recently replaced pillows and duvet so I'm glad those worked. A really good point about iron and hairdryer. I'll ask Sykes to include. Property Owner

Kitchen hob was very poor and needs to be looked at. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Very central. Well appointed apartment

Well placed to walk anywhere in York. We enjoyed our week there. Difficult to find the entrance to drop off point for luggage as all signage high above entrance but got there eventually

  • "The only issue we had was the pillows in the bedroom were far to flat (could do with new thicker ones) and from the picture we thought we would be able to see the river from the balcony but could only see it from the bedroom."

Thank you so much for your feedback. Although sadly too late for your stay, new pillows and duvet are now in place. Property Owner

  • "Small but comfortable flat in the middle of York, very close to the river."

On the third floor with no lift so plenty of exercise going up and down! No parking but it was possible to unload the car at the door - we used a secure NCP car park about a fifteen minute walk away.

  • "Lovely apartment, perfect location."

It was however difficult and expensive to park anywhere (we eventually found a 24hr car park which cost £13/day; residents parking zones are not at all clearly marked and it is easy to get a surprise ticket.) There was no information at all about this with the apartment.
