  • "Lovely house, perfectly positioned to explore Thirsk."

This was our second visit to this property after 2 years and it didn’t disappoint. The house is cosy and has a very well equipped kitchen. It feels very much like a home unlike some properties we rent. The garden looks a little sad but then again it is winter. Parking was no problem and the dogs enjoyed lovely walks straight from the door. The owners are very welcoming.

  • "All in all a very relaxed and comfortable week in this warm and cozy cottage."

Beds were very comfortable, and easy to operate hall thermostat on colder evenings, also the television and remote were straightforward without any problems. Very well equipped kitchen with excellent double gas oven. if I would pick out one very small moan it would have been nice to have found a pint of milk in the fridge so as not to have had to go straight out again before having a hot drink on arrival. However as the supermarket was a mere three minute walk and we had to do a food shop anyway it was'nt a problem, also we were able to purchase some kindling and firelighters so as to get a fire going. Overall a superb week and in a cottage I would thoroughly recommend... Mick and Janet.

  • "The property was ideal for us."

It was situated near the Thirsk main square a 5 minute walk away. We had 2 dogs with us and found an amazing walking area for them which followed the river. The property was very well equipped with everything that one would need. The area around Thirsk has lots of lovely small towns worth visiting. I would recommend a train trip to York only 20 minutes away. I would recommend this property.

Accommodation was lovely and everything we needed was supplied (only missing a fish slice in the kitchen and the double bedroom would benefit with a clothes railto hang up shirts etc... Would defintely stay here again.

We had a great stay and would love to return to explore the area further. Very well-equipped, although the only (minor issue) that we had - we couldn't find a bottle opener!

The bottle opener is missing?!? That will be rectified immediately! Thanks for letting us know. Property Owner

  • "Parking is an absolute nightmare."

Had to park second car at families address that we were visiting as no where to park at number 15. Our car was damaged by neighbours as parking is so tight and difficult. At least they were kind enough to knock on door and inform us. Listing makes out parking to be relatively simple and easy ….. it’s not !! Other than that, property is relatively nice and has everything you could need. Nice period features and very homely. Advertised as dog friendly, but not really. Signs on wall saying no dogs upstairs when you arrive. No dogs on bed or furniture I can understand, but upstairs!!! They need to decide one way or the other if they want dogs. Unless they do we won’t be making a return visit, which is a shame as property location was perfect for us visiting family down the road.

  • "Fantastic holiday cottage."

Its deceptively bigger than it looks from the outside. It was really close to the market square only 5 min walk. Loads of dog walking routes around as well. Parking wasn't an issue with parking at the back and front. The bedrooms were spacious. Tiny upstairs bathroom was a good edition. Loads of cupboards in the kitchen for all our stuff. It was well equipped in the kitchen. Loved the decorations everywhere it made it homey without being fussy. Loads of books everywhere was appreciated as well. Only a couple of thing i can think of to improve would be a new dining set as the bowls are really scratched and some of the plates are chipped. Also i would add a small sofa in front of the window to add more comfy places to sit. Underfloor heating in kitchen and downstairs bathroom would be nice as well since it was a bit chilly in these rooms underfoot. Overall we had a really good stay and everyone enjoyed it.

  • "Excellent. It was the thoughtful touches such as the warm outside tap to wash the dog before entering the cottage."

It really felt like home. Well Done. We have stayed in many cottages and this has to be one of our favourites.

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at no."

15 . The house contains everything you need for an enjoyable holiday . The kitchen was very well equipped with a very good and easy to use oven . Particularly useful for us was the drying room as you come in from the back door , it made it easy to dry our dog Holly after getting caught in the rain on a couple of days. We would certainly book again for this property and would recommend it to anyone wanting to holiday in this lovely part of North Yorkshire.

  • "No 15 is a lovely homely property, very spacious and comfortable."

It is a very short walk into Thirsk town centre where there are plenty of options for eating out. However, the kitchen was so well equipped that we cooked on several occasions. The little shower room upstairs was lovely and was the bathroom we used most but for those who like to soak in the bath there is another bathroom downstairs. The owners are lovely people who have obviously put a lot of thought and care into making the house welcoming and comfortable. They also quickly sorted out a minor problem we had on arrival. We would definitely like to return to this property and bring a friend also, there is certainly plenty of room. We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting a holiday in lovely north Yorkshire where there is so much to do a week just wasn't long enough. We will be back.

  • "We had a nice stay but would recommend some of the following."

there was no pizza tray which would have been helpful. No colour coded chopping boards, would have helped to have a bread board. The dining room is rather dark and unappealing to sit in. Found the TV too small in the living room. Bathroom upstairs the water would not regulate in shower so too hot to use so had to use bathroom downstairs. The upstairs bathroom was also too small. Some attention to tidying up garden would be nice as it is a lovely spot to sit in. Everything else was great. Fantastic location, close to all amenities.

  • "Unexpectedly spacious accommodation near to the town centre which has many shops and cafés around the town square."

There is an open space where you can exercise your dog(s) beside the recreation centre which is only 5 minutes drive from number 15. Parking is free for 3 hours but you must get a ticket. Alternatively you can walk there in about 12 minutes if the dog is not desperate! The property has everything you need for a self catering holiday and WiFi and smart TV for the evenings. The upstairs shower room is a bit small, so mind your backside on the towel rail when you get out!

  • "The house was beautiful and had everything we could possibly need."

We were so comfortable and able to relax in peace and quiet and style. We enjoyed the warm back garden space when the sun came out and being snuggled up on the sofas as a family watching tv/films in the evenings. Thirsk and the surrounding areas provided some lovely day outs - outdoor swimming in Helmsley and a visit to the gorgeous walled garden and a train trip to York for shopping. There were loads more we could have done and the owners left great suggestions for visitors. Supermarket just on your doorstep made it super convenient. And as a driver of an electric car I was impressed with how easy it was to find a charging point in town and where we visited too which took the stress of keeping fully charged. If you are looking for somewhere to relax and feel like you are home from home I would definitely recommend this place!

Good information folder. The only thing we would have liked was a couple of fans as we were there for the UK's 2021 summer heat wave week!
