We found the lodge comfortable and a perfect place for you to relax and unwind very peaceful We would just like to point out some minor improvements ,a new carpet in the lounge ,the shower doors need attention in master en-suite freezer in need of defrosting and possibly mend draws or renew, more instructions with regards to appliances Unable to put fire on in lounge as couldn’t workout how too would have been nice especially when the snow arrived although the lodge was lovely and warm but the fire would have given it that cosy feel

  • "We stayed for 2 nights and absolutely loved it."

We brought a dog with us and it was very cosy and clean. There aren’t many walks straight off the property however there is a big woods 5 minutes drive away. Hot tub was clean, set up and ready for us to get straight in. Our dog is also very fussy and will only go to the toilet on grass so it was useful having grass on the side of the property as well as a gorgeous decking area. We will definitely be returning for another little holiday.

  • "When we arrived at the lodge, there was a power cut."

I rang the owners and they made sure that an electrician was onsite as soon as possible. We had about two hours sat in darkness but they kept in touch with us throughout and when it was sorted, they couldn’t apologise enough. Instead of leaving at 10am on our last day, they offered us the full day as an apology. They didn’t have to do this as the power cut wasn’t their fault but thought it was a nice touch. The lodge itself was lovely. There were a few burns on the living room carpets and the bathrooms could definitely do with modernising but overall, I couldn’t fault it. It was warm and clean and made for a great base to celebrate our Christmas away. If you do go with a dog at this time of year like we did, there isn’t many places to walk them without having them come back full of mud but that would be the only downside to our break. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all but it was nice being off grid for a while (although I’m not sure the kids would agree with that!) Very quiet setting and handy for getting into York. Hot tub was lovely but it was definitely a squeeze for 6 people. Would definitely visit again though. Thank you for a great stay!

  • "When j booked this property I noticed the Sykes 5 star reviews."

It was Only after booking I saw the very low customer rating so I was very worried. But the lodge was much better than I expected. It was clean and the hot tub was clean. There are lots of extras in the storage room such as a travel cot, pushchair, games, high chair. Some of the duvets had stains on but the sheets and mattresses were very clean. The bathrooms definitely need a little TLC. If the lodge was given a little bit of a spruce up and a little extra care this would be a lovely place to stay

  • "Any issues we had were resolved by the contact within a suitable time scale which was great however the park itself was very noisy due to road surfacing works and other bits and pieces going on, The actual ground works were far more than we expected in respect of what actually was being done and undoubtedly will improve the site but until completion, i wouldn't be booking again."

The unfinished site does take a little shine off the stay but as i say, once complete it is minutes into the village where the local pub is lovely.

  • "On arriving at the lodge the first impressions were ok, the lodge is a little dated but was clean."

However, we set out to use the hot tub around 5:30 to find this was less than half full. I immediately phoned to try and get this issue rectified and failed as they assured me the maintenance man had been out in the morning, I continued to contact to try and get this issue resolved and no-one did anything to assist. We filled it ourselves and after arriving on Friday managed to use the hot tub on two occasions later in the week as the temperature would not get high enough for us to use, extremely disappointing as you pay extra for the hot tub and not being able to use this over the weekend spoilt our holiday. After numerous requests about discussing and resolving this issue I am still no further forward and this is a month later. We paid a lot of money and this was disregard as they had been paid and have said they would get back to is but I am still waiting for this issue to be resolved:-(

  • "Building work - didn’t inform us before hand."

. Decking all loose, tiles by front door loose and dangerous, leaking roof in living room, mouldy cheese left in the cupboard, disgustingly vile smelling rag left in washing machine, rubbish left under beds, rubbish shoved behind radiator, boiler had 10 faults on - no heating for a full week, hot tub smelt like a sewer ( but was cleaned prior like the rest of the lodge) dishes were dirty being the understatement and believe it or not there is actually a dishwasher there.. mind baffling! Cracked glasses in the cupboard etc the list goes on, save yourself the hassle and don’t book
