  • "Wonderful place."

In the heart of Scarborough. Everything we needed. Secure Garden for the dog. Loved it

  • "Very well situated in the centre of the town."

Off street parking wasn’t a problem but it wasn’t high season. Spacious, comfortable & well presented property. The garden was very secure for my dog so that gave me peace of mind. Definitely be back.

  • "Overall the accommodation is bright and clean but there are places the cleaners have missed, cobwebs on the living room wall, the sofa had dust on the arms and the cooker hood needed cleaning also the freezer was a bit untidy ."

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry the cleaning was not as expected on this visit. I now have a new team cleaning so I am sure you will find it different on your next visit. Property Owner

  • "The property is listed as child friendly but we thought there could be more child safety features in place."

There was no safety gate at the top of the stairs, and no fire guard in the lounge. (although to be fair we did not have the fire on. ). Our toddler did keep touching the fire though as he doesn't have one in his house and thought the pebbles were real. A toddler step in the bathroom would have been a bonus and we never found the high chair. Maybe you had to ask for it. The cot only comes with the base but the owner did try to find us a thicker mattress but without success. Remember to bring your own thick cot mattress if you stay here. We improvised with a couple of sheets folded over and it was fine. After we had left ,the owner contacted us to say she had found a pair of toddler shoes , and was happy to post them on to us, which was really kind.

I was very surprised to get this feedback as you rang me a few days before your holiday, and we had a long conversation about the facilities at Freyja Cottage. I explained then that I do not have a stair gate in this cottage and gave my reasons, which you agreed with. You also asked about the travel cot, and I explained it was a standard travel cot with nothing additional. There is no highchair and I do not advertise that we have one, so the listing is accurate. When you arrived in the cottage you rang again to say you “had to have” more parking tokens as you had arrived in two cars. I came down to provide these straight away even though you had enough tokens for that night. You then said there was no additional mattress for the travel cot. You already knew this from our previous telephone conversation. I offered to see if I could find another property with an additional mattress I could borrow, but they also had the standard travel cot. In total I walked 4 miles for the parking cards and the mattress search. After you left, I found the shoes you had left and sent them to you at my expense. I am glad to note on your feedback that they did arrive. Property Owner

It's also perfectly located and handy for all attractions, would definitely stay again, Karen (the owner) is very helpful. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a fab place to stay when on holiday in Scarborough.

Thanks for your kind comments. I look forward to welcoming you in the future. Thanks for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy too! Property Owner

  • "Cottage is in a good location close to seafront and town."

Facilities at the cottage are good. We could not get the hob on the cooker to work. The rings only got warm and not hot. We appreciate that the settings had worn off the controls. The tin opener did not work so mid meal preparation we had to go in search of a tine of beans with a pull can lid. We also warmed these in dishes in the oven as there was no microwave cook wear in the cottage. Apart from these issues we had a good holiday and would recommend it.

I am glad you had a good time in the cottage and thank you for your kind words in the visitor book. I am sorry about the tin opener. It was brand new and did work when I had previously tried it. However, I have swapped it as there needs to be an opener that works all the time. The hob has now been replaced. Property Owner

  • "Cottage was very clean, comfortable and tidy and well situated for a short walk to the sea front (albeit a bit hilly)."

Parking permits were provided for the duration of the stay although it was pot luck to park close to the cottage. There is also a 24 hour car park close by. There were a couple of very minor points - a couple of dodgy floorboards upstairs and the toilet extractor seemed to run on for a long time (only noticed this during the night). Overall, our stay was delightful and we will book again - Recommended. Colin & Chris.

Glad you had a great time. Thanks for your feedback - floorboards now sorted! Property Owner

  • "Wonderful property."

Very clean and tidy. Located within a Quick 10 minute walk to Town and beach. The Whole place was immaculate. The Mattresses on the beds were slightly sunken and soft for us as we have harder sprung mattresses at home, but this was an individual preference. Would definitely book again.
