Everything has been thought about. The village is stunning. Lots to do in the surrounding areas. One being an amazing reservoir minutes drive away. Good pubs and restaurants a sort walk from cottage. A village with a good community spirit. A small cottage but internally designed well to fit all mod cons, like a dish washer. Looking through the visitor book many visitors rebook, says it all.

There was a handy file with all the info we needed, logs for the wood burner and all little things thought of - a hamper, wireless speaker, bubbles in the fridge! It was lovely to be able to stay somewhere traditional, rural and sensitively decorated but also with modern luxuries thought of and a sense of style! Our children (9 and 2) loved feeding the friendly horses from the back garden every morning and afternoon (as did we). Ivy Cottage is just a couple of minutes walk to the village shop, fish and chip shop and 3 pubs which serve great food. We tried 2 of them - Sunday lunch in The Queen Catherine was delicious and the food in The Golden Lion is probably the best we've ever had! The cottage is finished to a very high standard, it had everything we needed (and more) and we actually enjoyed our time there so much that less than a week after leaving, we've booked to go back! We were here to walk in the Yorkshire Moors and the house was perfectly placed for that, with information about various walks in the cottage. There is the smallest of areas at the back which is a lovely sun trap for when you get back from a walk and fancy a beer. Parking on the street was fine. It really is a great place to stay. The only very slight criticism is that the living room is rather dimly lit, although there was a plentiful supply of tea lights to create ambience. We also had the warmest of welcomes from David. The property has everything you could wish for, and much more that you couldn't even have imagined you would want or need, but were delightful nonetheless. It is in a beautiful location. Osmotherley is a truly picture perfect village. Although you are right next to the road it is not noisy or intrusive. We had horses in the field behind who were so friendly and really added something extra for our boys during their stay, as did all the doors and gadgets hiding something extra - they thought they were in a spy house!
