  • "Spacious cottage close to village centre."

Excellent local pubs & village shop. Great location for walkers. Enclosed rear garden great for dogs. On street parking. No doubt busy in summer months.

  • "Had a really nice stay at the cottage."

Great location for everything in the villages, local walks, Lady Chapel etc. Communication before going to the cottage from the owners was really good and very accommodating. There were only 4 of us that stayed and does say sleeps 6 but I would say we would have been a bit pushed for comfy seating in the lounge if were more of us. Otherwise everything was lovely and enjoyed our stay.

  • "I found it an ideal base as a walking holiday."

I found the room cold so was pleased with the heater and blanket. To put the heating up made the bedroom too hot. The thermostat was broken so couldn't turn it down. I didn't want to mess with open fire which no doubt would have made room warmer. I like free view but reception was very poor so wasn't a lot I could watch. Pub food and fish shop serve good food. Shop sold all I needed and the sisters are lovely people.

  • "Jenny’s Cottage was ideal for us and the owner very helpful when we couldn’t work the heating!"

Our lack of expertise, not his! A lovely house in a beautiful setting of Osmotherley. Well recommended.

Glad you enjoyed your stay in Jenny's Cottage. We've just had a new boiler fitted so the thermostat needed a bit of explanation for those not familiar with that type but all working well. The village is always very scenic and as we approach autumn the changing colours of the leaves on the trees makes it even more attractive. We hope you get chance to revisit to see it sometime. • "Had a very comfortable stay."

The property was perfect for a holiday with our two dogs and has plenty of roo. for four adults. The village was quiet and friendly. Lots of great walks on the doorstep. Parking was not always available outside but we didn't have any problems finding space close by. The pubs in the village served excellent food and the local shop was well stocked and friendly. Will be revisiting...

So pleased you enjoyed your holiday in Jenny's Cottage and that you had the opportunity to explore the local countryside while walking your dogs. As you say, the food served in the three pubs is excellent and very good value, especially their Sunday roast and the local shop is well stocked with everyday needs and the staff there are very friendly and will answer any questions about the village and local area. Hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "A plain but nice cottage."

We had a comfortable and pleasant stay. Beautiful area with all that you need only a short walk away. I found that the kitchen could have been better equipped with a larger array of cooking equipment, if we hadn't taken our own pressure cooker, frying pan and wok I feel that we would have struggled to cook the kinds of food that we prefer to eat - spaghetti bolognaise, stew and curries etc. -- for our family of four never mind a family of six. We couldn't get the tin opener to work so struggled to open cans. There also wasn't a useable potato peeler so we struggled to peel vegetables (which wasn't ideal as I struggle with hand disabilities) we did though mention this to Kristen when she came to do changeover cleaning so perhaps this will now be addressed for future users. We also mentioned to the property maintenance manager about the light over the back door which he said no-one had mentioned before -- we struggled to see our young dogs when taking them out for "toilet" at night, our dogs don't like torches either and the lights from the kitchen and bathroom weren't bright enough either (maybe consider a movement sensor light on the outer bathroom wall?) -- and he said that he would advise to get that changed. Kristen did mention that no-one had ever given them feedback like this before so I suppose this would be why these things haven't ever been resolved. One other thing we struggled with was parking as visitors' cars seemed to being parked anywhere they could find a space leaving holidaying people with nowhere to park. Has it ever been considered to remove the grassed areas in front of the cottages to provide off road parking for guests or would this be a planning permission issue? All in all a lovely week away for us and our two young spaniels

Thank you for your comments which we will certainly address for the future. We're so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday in Osmotherley and rated the cottage so highly on Comfort and Cleanliness. With regard to your suggestion of paving the area in front of the cottage, I'm afraid that is not possible as the cottage is within the North Yorkshire National Park in an area of Outstanding National Beauty so planning permission would not be granted. Parking is normally available directly in front of the cottage although the village can be busy on weekends when we recommend parking on Back Lane (only 50 yards away) until the visitors go home in the evening. We hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "A lovely comfortable cottage with a pleasant enclosed garden, ideal for us with 2 dogs."

The cottage is well situated in this beautiful village within the North York Moors National Park. There are excellent walks for any level straight from the door. The beds are really comfortable. There are plenty of places to eat in the village and there is shop just a few yards away. There are lots of places to visit in the North York Moors area including the coast. The Yorkshire Dales are also easily accessible. Nearby Northallerton has a market and some excellent Food shops. We look forward to our next visit.

Thanks for your endorsement of the cottage and pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Osmotherley. Certainly it's a great place to stay for people with dogs who like walking on the moors as there are plenty of walks you can do straight from the doorstep. And the pubs and cafe serve really good food, which you obviously enjoyed. Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "The washing line was dreadful."

It was left in a heep under a tree in the dirt. We had to string it from trees across the garden. No clothes props and few clothes pegs. Could do better. Garden could have been lovely but it was full of weeds and had a large patch of nettles which wen wet drooped across the path. I pushed them back. The kitchen is small so I can’t see how you could fit a dishwasher but it would have been a advantage. Their is nothing you can do about the parking outside the cottage but it was a nightmare. We were in the position that we worried we couldn’t get near the cottage and cut activity’s short to get parked. We had to what till the pubs and restaurants closed to get parked. During the day’s walkers park hear too. If we had known we would not have booked.

We’re pleased that you found the cottage so clean and comfortable in your ratings. In response to your comments, we don’t leave the washing line set up permanently as most guests don’t use it. Parking immediately outside the cottage can be difficult at weekends but is normally OK during the week and there are always spaces on Back Lane just 50 yards up the road, as described in the Visitors Book. The beautiful local scenery and the popularity of the village for walkers and cyclists are the major reasons why so many people want to holiday in that area so I hope you had the opportunity to experience them too. • "Fabulous holiday home."

The village is absolutely gorgeous. 3 great little pubs. Best beer garden in the queens head defo. The house was very well equipped and almost had everything. We just found the kitchen lacked some equipment for using the oven. Trays for cooking would have been really helpful. Other than that it was great!!!

  • "We had such a lovely stay at Jenny's cottage."

Osmotherley is such a gem of a village, it is very friendly and there are amazing walks to be found as soon as you step out of the door, perfect for us with our pooch. The cottage was really welcoming and we felt a part of the village life. It was lovey to be able to come back from a walk and enjoy a sit in the sun in the garden.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay in Jenny's Cottage and could enjoy the sunshine both on your walks and then resting in the garden. Osmotherley and the moors have so much to offer - we hope you have chance to sample them again. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was a perfect getaway."

The village of Osmotherley has great amenities and we really enjoyed walking our dog on the footpaths around it and visiting all the dog (and child) friendly pubs. The play area a short walk away was a lifesaver for lazy afternoons. Many beautiful historic places under national trust were within a short drive away as well as the lovely villages of Northallerton and Thirsk. The cottage itself is simple and clean and the beds and sofa were so comfortable. We had everything we needed. The back garden was well enclosed for our dog. The only criticism I have is that I wish there was a clothes horse to hang up some washing. There is a makeshift washing line outside but it rained/snowed for the majority of our visit. With two young kids and lots of muddy clothes we really needed to get a few loads done and somewhere to hang it.

Glad you enjoyed your stay in Jenny's Cottage and the opportunity to explore the village and surrounding area. Despite the inclement weather, there is certainly plenty to see and do - hopefully you can come back again when the sun shines and you can see the moors in all their glory. Property Owner
