  • "Where do I start ."

? The wooden floors were an mis match of boards painted grey and were cracked in a lot of places in every room there were nails and carpet tacks sticking up all over the floors very dangerous. The place was very dirty I didn’t come on holiday to start cleaning. At least 7 dead flies on the windows I had to bleach the bath before we could even take a shower. The kitchen was dirty we could not cook anything all week there was no iron the outside furniture was so dirty we could not sit outside even if you wanted too. The freezer was dirty we could not use that my list is endless. We actually left the property early as our planned holiday was not what we expected. I was very disappointed. I suggest the place needs an inspection as soon as possible. We will not be booking with Sykes again if this is the standard of property. We paid a lot of money for a nice break and all we got was not as was advertised. I did contact Skye cottages their response I did not somebody in to clean the house why should I, we are on holiday the cleaning team are going into the property twice a week would that be necessary if the property was of a required standard ? I could go on but won’t I have never booked with Skye cottages before very upsetting

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that you felt the property was not to the standard you were expecting. With regards to the floors, these will be checked as a matter of importance, as the issues you have reported were not present during the initial inspection by Sykes, and any areas in need of attention will be rectified. Your comments relating to cleanliness will be fed back to the cleaning team for future reference. Of course, had we been given the opportunity to rectify any areas of concern for you during your stay, we certainly would have as we care very much for our guests' experiences. Thank you once again for your review. Property Owner

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at 11 Trafalgar Terrace."

The place was furnished nicely with some quirky artwork which also made it feel quite cosy. It's well situated for both North Beach, Peasholme Park and the main street and South beach attractions. I will most likely book a stay there again.

That’s great thank you for your positive feedback, I’m glad you had a nice time. Property Owner

  • "We arrived at the property 11 Trafalgar Terrace and struggled to find somewhere to park the car and looked at the outside of the property and thought omg this is a bit run down but looks can be deceiving."

Mmmmmmm not this time. Walked through the front door and wondered what I'd booked. On the website it looked a bit quirky but not unkempt like this. Where do I start? Skirting boards dirty. Paint off doors. Bare floorboards with nails sticking out ( couldn't walk bare footed or if you had a toddler they couldn't crawl etc ) This is a HEALTH AND SAFETY issue and needs addressing ASAP. Dirty work surfaces. Hole in the floor in the kitchen Handle hanging off dresser. Dining Table all stained and marked. Grill pan in the kitchen was dirty also the cutlery draws too. The pots and pans needed to be thrown out as they were not fit for purpose. White clock on wall faded, dusty and broken. Moving Upstairs Lampshades looked as if they had never been dusted, where I put my hand on it you could see a mark. Master bedroom was ok except for the window not opening. It was 24 degrees and you can't open a window. We never checked the bed as didn't get that far. Bathroom- where do I start..... Pubic hair in bath Stains in Bath Again no carpet Shower head dirty. Again like the rest of the property very tired looking. Single bedroom - smelt sweaty. Handles wonky on dresser which looked like it had just been picked up from the recycling center and just placed in the room. The whole place was shabby, not homely and certainly not worth the money we paid . The furniture looked as if it had been just picked up from a recycling centre. Hubby and son refused to stay saying it was in habitable. Skykes member of staff I didn't feel was helpful telling me she understood when she had no clue as to how I was feeling. Ended up leaving not even unpacking the car after being told by Sykes that we would only be entitled to a part refund as it was only the owner who kindly released us from contract. They never offered alternative accommodation. We were 5 hours away from home and nowhere to stay. What makes matters worse is the day before we left I phoned Sykes as had read the previous review and was assured that everything had been sorted.

Thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry that you were disappointed with your stay as we do try to ensure the comfort of all our guests. Your comments in respect of the cleanliness have been taken on board to be shared with our cleaners who we have always known to clean areas thoroughly, including more specific areas like the cutlery drawers and shower head. The floor boards were never an issue prior to the property going live with Sykes, as these had been inspected, however we will be revisiting the property to rectify any areas of concern. Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments. Property Owner

  • "Instructions given for everything were easy to follow."

Kitchen and cleaning facilities to hand were excellent. Also, cottage layout was easy to keep clean. Only ten minutes away from town centre and beaches. Lots of cupboard space - bonus! Parking discs and permits provided on dresser which was a huge relief! Cottage had central heating as well as cosy wood burners. Excellent for the Arctic weather we have just experienced. Cottage was also much larger than expected! Would definitely book again. Thank you.

so happy you enjoyed your stay. Thank you Property Owner
