“Lovely wee cottage in the heart of Pickering with shops, restaurants and takeaways within easy reach.”

The cottage is well appointed but I would not recommend for disabled, infirm or young children as the bedrooms are at the top of a flight of narrow steep stairs and the bathroom is on the ground floor. There is a dishwasher which we never used, prefer to do them by hand as, in my experience, dishwashers do not do the job properly. A washing machine would have been of more use. Parking has to be on the street as there appears to be another vehicle constantly parked in front of the garden gates ...

Parking has to be on the street as there appears to be another vehicle constantly parked in front of the garden gates. This resulted in my car being treated as a public convenience for, what by the amount of poo, appeared to be every bird within 50 miles. However despite the one or two small inconveniences we had a nice break but left a day early because of the forecast bad weather.

Thank you for your feedback. Just to address a few of the issues that were brought up in the review. Our listing doesn't state that we have a washing machine as we do not supply one, it does say we have a dishwasher. The listing states that the bathroom is on the ground floor. The staircase is brand new and meets building regulations. I'm also sorry that there was poo on your car from the birds but unfortunately this is beyond our control. You should also have received an email from Sykes stating that private parking was no longer available and given an option to cancel, parking is available on the road outside the property. Apologies that there were a few inconveniences during your stay, but I'm glad you had a nice time anyway. - Sykes owner relations
