  • "This was a really clean and comfortable cottage, perfect for the 2 of us."

The location was incredibly quiet given it was only a short walk to the centre of Pickering. We enjoyed a trip to Whitby on the steam train and the town and castle are interesting. A wall-mounted shower would be the only thing we would suggest as an improvement.

  • "The house was very clean and tastefully decorated with a very thoughtful welcome pack."

Very quiet are and no noise from neighbours. Only moved the car once all week which was nice (a trip to Leeds market and a wander around Malton on the way back). Perfectly situated for walking into the town where there are plenty of cafes, pubs, independent shops and charity shops and a couple of antique shops. Only an hour's bus journey into Whitby which is well worth a visit. The White swan was lovely for a drink in front of an open fire. Will definitely return.

  • "Charming little cottage with a warm welcome for all the guests, human or canine."

Everything we needed was there. For every 'I wonder if there's a ...' the answer was 'here it is'. Small but very pleasant secure back garden. In the afternoon a choice of bench in the sun or table and chairs in the shade. Only slight reservations: shower was a hand-held one and the bed was too soft for me but that's a very personal preference. Very handy location, just 5 minutes to the middle of Pickering. Pretty town, lovely castle and a very rare set of medieval wall paintings in the church. And the wider area also very entertaining. Thoroughly recommend.

Every little detail covered, can't think of a single thing that would improve things. Pickering is ideally positioned for coastal towns and N York moors. Has a nice couple of dog friendly pubs. Feast cafe great breakfast (dog friendly). Make sure you visit Timm butchers, best sausages ever tasted.

  • "The cottage was excellent."

Extremely clean and well equipped for us and the dog. A very generous welcome pack was provided. The bed was very comfortable. The garden was well maintained and very secure for our dog. The garden bench and patio table and chairs meant that we could have breakfast at one end of the garden and evening meal at the other. It is situated just off the busy road so quiet yet easy to walk into the main streets and steam railway station. The owner had provided a list of local dog walks as well as maps for much longer walks. Would stay here again without hesitation.

A respectable quiet area you would not believe you were so near to amenities. Welcoming host liveing near by gave helpful advise but was in no way intrusive. This is a very dig friendly cottage and from the visitors book it was obvious that some guests visited on a regular basis with their canine companions.
