  • "Very nice and clean throughout."

Nice garden area for the dogs.my only concern for myself and brother was the steep stairs (old age) but it is an old cottage. Apart from a noisy road it was lovely

  • "We really enjoyed our week's stay at Ducky's."

Being January, it was pretty cold outside, but the heating was quick and efficient and the cottage warmed up quickly. Secure, off-road parking was an absolute godsend for this type of property and the garden a bonus for our dog. Everything you might need seemed to have been thought of: plenty of kitchen equipment for cooking and torches for nocturnal wanderings. Town within an easy walk, lots of dog friendly pubs and cafe's and nearby places to visit. Highly recommended.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at this lovely cosy cottage - Ducky’s is in a really good location - short walk to Pickering centre and short drive to Whitby & Scarborough."

There are a lot of personal touches around the cottage which makes it even more cosy & homely Just one concern re the back 3rd bedroom - it is extremely cold and also damp - we managed to make it more comfortable by leaving heating on and the bedroom door open. Other than that - we had a perfect stay and would recommend Ducky’s and would not hesitate to stay again !

Thank you for your positive feedback, i am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Regarding the coldness of the back bedroom, being at the back of the house it is north facing and more exposed so somewhat colder than the other rooms and consequently is more prone to condensation. I will be staying there myself shortly so I will sleep in that room and will see what I can do to improve it, probably upgrading the duvet and putting in additional blankets initially. • "Really enjoyed our stay at Ducky’s."

The cottage was lovely and warm even with freezing temperatures outside. A lot of extras are provided such as cling film, cooking oil, salt and pepper and plenty of cleaning products and hand soap at both sinks. The bed was lovely and comfortable and there is plenty of storage. The location is excellent, about ten minutes from the town and the garden space excellent for the dogs. The welcome basket was great, wine and biscuits for us and chews for the dogs. Thank you Jim

  • "Exactly as described."

We had a problem with the boiler but the owner arranged for a plumber to arrive first thing next morning to fix it minimising any inconvenience. It’s handy also having the parking space at the back. About a 10 min walk to the town so handy for all shops.

  • "We had a lovely stay and the property was very comfortable."

We were 4 adults and 2 dogs. Only aspects that could be improved - highlight better in details that garden is separate, across a shared driveway, as very important to know that you can't just let dogs out. Also, suggest to provide better blankets as the small back bedroom was a bit chilly so we had to give up fleece throw from another bedroom.

  • "Ducky's is a lovely cottage, well situated for the town centre."

Couldn't fault the facilities and perfect for dogs, having the separate garden. My only niggle, it is supposed to take 5 people however found the living room very small for this amount.

Thank you for your feedback, i am really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Ducky's. Regarding the number of guests for the size of the property I would like to make it clear that I have always insisted that that the maximum number of guests is 4 and this should be clear in the property details. I have checked the details on Sykes listing and this is the case though it is possible that some third party booking agents have not been 100% accurate. I will be checking other booking sites and will attempt to rectify this should I find any discrepancies. Property Owner

Yes, there is a little road noise but it’s to be expected for such a great position. Night lights are fab! Fab treats left for us in the kitchen. Great host, thanks Jim.

We enjoyed our week there. The only minor negative, for us, was that the mattress in the main bedroom was extremely hard, but we fully understand that this is so that the mattress will last for a long time. Our compliments to the owner for providing a lovely place to stay in. Tony Ratcliffe

Beautifully furnished and maintained with thoughtful extras. In a great situation in Pickering, a cosy place to return to after a busy day out. Little sunny courtyard and large grassed space for the dog. Good real ale pub 5 minutes walk away; friendly neighbours and a very helpful owner, Jim. Would thoroughly recommend it.

  • "Cottage was clean and adequately equipped."

Unfortunately the sink in the bathroom is very small and the plug does not seal, so losing water, The cottage is right on the A170 and the traffic is non stop, impossible to get a decent night sleep due to the number of lorries passing through all night

Thank you for your feedback and for flagging up the washbasin plug not sealing properly, I will get it fixed asap. Unfortunately I cannot do much about the noise of the traffic, it seems to bother some people more than others, I guess this depends on whether or not they are light sleepers and what they are used to where they live.
