“We were extremely impressed with the comfort, cleanness and careful thought that the owners have invested in this property.”

The only distraction was the busy road that is beside it.

The property

An immaculately-presented, detached stone period property, set back from the road, on the edge of the market town of Pickering, the gateway to the North York Moors National Park.

Beautifully furnished throughout, this outstanding dwelling provides a luxurious holiday home for families and friends wanting to explore this wonderful part of the country.

Offering quality accommodation, it retains beamed ceilings, while the comfortable sitting room has a cosy woodburning stove set in a stone fireplace, ideal to relax by on cooler evenings.

The well-equipped, spacious kitchen has a dining area to one side, with an alcove to one end providing a quiet garden room with a TV and a sofa.

With an elegant separate dining room with patio doors opening onto the garden, there is plenty of room to spread out.

Upstairs are three pretty bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room.

Outside, there is delightful, enclosed walled garden to the side; a sheltered sun trap complete with decking, a lawn and seating.

A few minutes’ walk brings you into the hustle and bustle of this popular town, complete with fishing ponds, a castle, museums and the famous steam railway terminal.

There is an excellent array of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and specialist shops, plus a weekly market along the main street.

The surrounding area is a walker's paradise, with numerous footpaths through the stunning scenery of the moors.

For golf enthusiasts, there are courses at both Kirkbymoorside and Malton, whilst nearby Flamingo Land offers fun for all the family.

There are a number of stately homes to be visited such as Castle Howard and Duncombe Park, as well as a selection of nearby equestrian centres.

With easy drives to the seaside resorts of Whitby and Scarborough and the magnificent city of York close by, this splendid property provides a wonderful base for a varied holiday.
