We were a bit disappointed with the property very tired looking needs a lot of tlc, the pictures on the internet show the property to look lovely they must be old photos, skirting boards coming off the wall, damp, cracks in the walls not the cleanest property

WOW everything we could have needed enclosed garden so the dog is safe , very comfy furniture and beds very nice equipped kitchen down stairs toilet and shower room a godsend all in all a very nice cottage ( only downside Mathew no milk or free bottle of wine )

  • "Overall it’s a lovely cottage, great location, and perfect for us with dogs and the enclosed garden!"

Arrived to milk, bottle of wine and there was tea/coffee etc, it was very cold when we got there and took a while to heat up, definitely recommend taking blankets for going in colder weather! The furniture differs from the pictures so could do with updating to more recent ones, not an issue though. It could do with a bit more tlc with cleanliness and attention to detail but wouldn’t put us off staying again.

  • "A well-equipped cottage."

Spotlessly clean. The location was perfect; opposite the railway station and just yards from the market square with its shops, pubs and restaurants. We took two dogs with us and the garden was fully enclosed, so they could wander around without us worrying about them. A good selection of books and games for our use. Really good WiFi. We will definitely be back.

  • "Matt was so helpful with info about places to eat and where they would happily accept dogs along with walks etc."

His info was spot on and we had a great time. Cottage was gorgeous, clean, well equipped and comfortable, possibly too comfortable as we spent a couple of days just chilling and using the lovely kitchen facilities. Should my holiday dates change to the open season for most of the places to visit in North Yorkshire I will most definitely book this cottage again as locational wise it’s perfect.

The cottage was the perfect location for everything we wanted to do. The cottage was very comfortable with everything we needed. We ate out every night as there is so many different places on the doorstep. All issues were dealt with promptly by the owner who was very helpful with all my questions prior to our stay.

  • "The property is in a great location, you couldn't get closer to the NYMR train station if you tried!"

We arrived at the property to milk, biscuits and wine which was a lovely touch. The property listing was accurate in terms of furnishings and was comfortable. The only real let down for the property was cleanliness but it was quite the let down. The downstairs shower had visible mould which resulted in a very strong damp smell in the bathroom and into the kitchen if you didn't leave the bathroom door closed. The kettle had not been cleaned in some time and was fully coated in limescale so we ended up not using it. The oven only had one shelf which fit which made cooking dinner rather difficult but there are an abundance of takeaways close by to help with this. The hard floors were dirty and we found dead bugs on several surfaces. The level of cleanliness was generally poor which was a real shame as it was a lovely property with a beautiful garden. The potential to be a great holiday stay is there, it just needs a deep clean and some minor maintenance. Overall, a nice property but needs a higher standard of cleanliness for an enjoyable stay.

This was the first time we have rented a cottage and would think twice before doing it again

  • "The cottage was clean and comfortable although the furniture differs from the photographs."

The kitchen was well equipped and the bed extremely comfortable. A very pretty garden. The cottage is very well situated for exploring Pickering with lots of pubs and takeaways on the doorstep. The Chinese 4 doors away was excellent as was the Indian and the Fish and Chips. I would suggest that a mirror in the main bedroom would be useful as would a shelf in the shower. Parking is just a few minutes walk away and it is easy to stop outside the cottage to load/unload.

Pickering is a great place with lots to do and friendly people. The down side to Pickering was it's very active traffic wardens. I collected three tickets in three days. Parking is highly restricted so it's important to look carefully for the time limits.

The cottage was comfortable and the owner very kindly left us a welcome pack of biscuits and milk. I have to agree with other holiday makers that the cottage would benefit from some TLC. We have stayed a number of times in the owners other cottage which has always been immaculately presented. I wouldn’t be put off staying again in the future.

Very clean and welcoming with everything we needed for our family break. We loved the garden and I made the most of sitting in it as we had the best sunny weather in April. The cottage is in the perfect situation with plenty of shops near by. We used the bakers shop 3 door's away which had delicious bakes and friendly staff. We took our little dog with us and enjoyed some of the local walks especially up by the castle. We loved everything about our stay & would definitely stay again.

  • "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at this cottage."

It is extremely well located for access to the centre of Pickering, a market town which has a lot to offer in terms of shopping and places to eat. It is also easy to catch a bus from Pickering to various places in North Yorkshire. We visited Whitby, Helmsley and York in this way. The cottage itself is very comfortable and is particularly warm which was welcome during what turned out to be quite a cold week in late April/early May. The cottage itself is well equipped, with comfortable beds and easy chairs, and a very pleasant kitchen/dining room, again well equipped. All in all, I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone who would like to stay in this area.

  • "Arrived and the cottage was really cold and smelt damp , no handbook anywhere so had to find things out like the heating ourselves ."

Needs attention to detail like as a previous visitor mentioned , numerous lightbulbs out , no battery replaced in clock , very tired around the edges and the cleanliness for us was the worst . Black mould in areas , bathrooms look like they had ,had a wipe but not a full clean , things felt grimy , grease running down front of dishwasher unit . Dog mess left in garden that previous people did not pick up . We did not eat in the cottage and maybe it is us that like things looking perfect but the pictures can’t be recent as it is looking tired now . Shame but wouldn’t stay there again . All is needed is bleach spray ,we bought a fragrance candle to remove the smell of damp . On a positive note the area is lovely and cottage in a good spot ,parking is easy enough and within walking distance .
