Visit the trout farm in walking distance of the cottage where you can delight in an idyllic day on the water, or follow the many bike paths leading from the town to explore the surrounding splendour of the area.

The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway is a must-see, taking you all the way to the coastal town of Whitby on 'The Optimist' whilst passing some of the most scenic landscapes it makes the perfect way to explore the area in a more relaxed way, or discover the locations used in the Harry Potter film The Philosopher's Stone, a wonderful experience for the film fanatic.

Whitby offers a traditional seaside experience which is sure to be a delight for all ages, home to a beautiful beach, historic wonders such as the Whitby Museum and the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, and the famed 199 Steps leading you up to the imposing Whitby Abbey with its spectacular scenery, it makes the perfect day trip at any time of the year.

This historic market town, with its full range of amenities and traditional shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, serves as the official gateway to the beautiful North York Moors National Park, home of the Heartbeat countryside. Enjoy a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, where Harry Potter fans can even explore some of the locations used in the filming of The Philosopher’s Stone! The Beck Isle Museum is also well worth a visit, with its unique collection of black and white photography and displays of rural life.
