Do try Botham's bakery and cafe and the Cedar Barn farm shop and cafe ( serves excellent local produce) .Looking forward to our next visit .

I would recommend a new TV remote (the Catch Up remote is OK but) the TV remote is well worn and one cannot read the words on the buttons to tell which is the volume etc on it.

  • "Having obtained this booking at short notice for what seemed a very reasonable price and read some previous reviews, we approached our stay with a certain amount of caution."

We need not have feared though, as Station View turned out to be a cracking base for a great week. The only serious downside was the wi-fi based TV system which simply doesn’t do the job for much of the time.

  • "Unfortunately we were disappointed with station view, whilst the property was clean and in a good location it was let down seriously by cheap mattresses, one of which had collapsed in the middle making it unusable."

Add to this that the internet tv (Freeview signal now theoretically restored after the fire but aerial obviously not good enough for normal tv) was plagued by buffering after 10 minutes of watching anything, and eventually timing out meant the property was not fit for purpose. Also other minor niggles such as broken or faulty light bulbs. Went home early after one night.

  • "We regularly stay at Station View, at least once a year for a few years now, and find it comfortable, clean and welcoming."

Lovely view for people watching from the living room window. Only problem is the steps up to the apartment - they seem to get steeper and more of them as I get older!!!!! Just a small point, a couple of Pirex dishes would be handy for heating things in the microwave.

  • "Firstly let me say we had a lovely week at Station View."

It was really everything it was described to be. The location was great with a brilliant view up the main street. Perfect for people watching. Also very convenient for picking up a fresh coffee, or local shopping. Access to railway station (one of the main reasons we chose this property) was perfect. There was nothing really that we were short of. BUT, would we stay there again????? Maybe not. Too many niggly shortcomings that were really unnecessary and which spoiled what would have been a brilliant stay. Firstly a constant dripping tap in the kitchen, like Chinese water torture. A mirror in the bedroom that anyone under 5.5 can't see into. A smoke alarm which went off if the oven door was opened (unless it was covered in cling film as it was when we arrived.) A tiny tv, and no terrestrial coverage, only online apps. No shower caddy, so had to put soap down on the floor tray!!! No hook on the bathroom door, so clothes had to go on the loo, or on the floor. The cheapest of cheap 2 slice toasters and a leaky kettle. As I say, all only minor in the grand scheme of things, but so easily put right and which would have made a world of difference.

The flat has everything you need and is a terrific spot from which to people-watch. It's extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. My only problem is managing the stairs up to the flat but I won't let them put me off and I'm sure to be back.

  • "This was our second visit to Station View and although some of the furnishings are looking a little tired, once again enjoyed our stay."

Just a couple of points to note. The TV currently is internet based and we were plagued with it buffering despite the owners kind help in trying to resolve it. Also we feel the signage for the car parking area could be improved to avoid confusion.

  • "Cannot fault the apartment re cleanliness, facilities or comfort at all."

The only downside was that the tv had to run off internet (due to a fault at the mast which we understand is out of owners control) however the tv buffered quite a lot and really disrupted any programmes. We believe an upgrade to the internet would solve this until the mast is repaired. We also struggled finding the correct parking space so had to use the one for the other apartment as that was fortunately unoccupied during our stay. Otherwise excellent.

We took a Ford Fiesta and managed to fit / turn it in the allocated space OK. Had we taken a larger car we would have struggled. Location in Pickering is excellent for the NYM Railway. (you can see the buffer stops from the windows) We go to the Moors fairly regularly. This accommodation will be the first one on our list to look at for availability next time.

  • "Apartment as described, very comfortable, spacious."

and clean and well equiped. However, can be very noisy due to traffic which comes to life around 5.30am, as apartment is situated in a busy street. There is a pub directly next door and this too can be extremely noisy in the evenings. Having said that it does quieten down around 10.30pm. The sitting room window looks straight onto the main street, interesting watching people and life! Please note that there are 2 sets of internal stairs to climb to get to the door of apartment. Although there is a parking space, it can be awkward to get in, as it is a small area for 6 cars.

The weather was wet and cold for much of the time but the apartment was always cosy and warm. We liked the location and the parking right outside. We had everything we needed and it was spotlessly clean. There are 2 flights of stairs (not steep) which were fine for us. Also in all self catering now it is worth noting that you will need to take with you salt and vinegar, tea and coffee, tea towels and dishcloths etc. We are looking forward to going back next year.

  • "We only was expecting 1step of stairs 2 was a bit too much for older people with a few issues."

It was going up with our luggage the main problem . No laminated information we usually get in a Sykes accommodation to let us know where things are and how they work . We did have issues and was difficult to get hold of anybody to sort out . The shop sadly due to the virus was only open a few hours and no one ever answered the out of hours phone . We did eventually solve things ourselves. The View from window is very nice makes a change for us to see the human life as we are used to seeing cows and sheep . We didn’t think the property was as well as equipped as other properties we have been in . Sorry I had to give a low mark for cleaning but when the sun shone on kitchen units they where really marked up with finger marks and the bottle opener felt really dirty . I may sound a bit picky but for years I was a caretaker cleaner and housemaid and my partner ran a 9 bedroom BxB so know what we are saying would loved to have cleaned them but if I had you wouldn’t have believed me . Will say this didn’t spoil our holiday as we are the age of make do and mend and we are only here for a week so make the most of it . Sorry I’ve been to many Sykes holidays over the years and this is the first time I’ve had to say things like this . If it wasn’t for the stairs we would probably go back to Station View again .

The only way to wash my hair was by turning it on & off while using shampoo & conditioner. The light in the hallway & one of the kitchen lights didn’t work. However, the shower needed some maintenance as it did not drain water effectively. And when my husband went to iron his shirt, the iron only had a 3amp fuse in it, which meant it didn't work. These are only minor issues, and overall we found it a comfortable and smart place to stay with lovely views down the high street.

We have holidayed a few times with you and also with this property (Spires View twice and now Station View) all in Pickering. The flat was comfortable and perfectly located for everything. Our only grump was their wasn't any basic things like washing up liquid, very little toilet roll and toilet soap. The kitchen sink was blocked which was partially fixed, it blocked later again and the bed collapsed which we fixed but it does need better attention and an allen key to repair it properly. Minor problems but otherwise a perfect flat. We will use it again though as we enjoyed our stay.

On most nights the noise and language from there lasted way past closing time with gangs of people shouting and laughing drunken banter until the early hours. Friday night began with extra loud youngster music and did not end until 12 - 12.30am.
