The accommodation was lovely, although some repair work was required and for this reason I am not sure the property should have a 5 star rating. The accommodation was lovely, although some repair work was required and for this reason I am not sure the property should have a 5 star rating. The patio doors to the kitchen did not work properly and we had difficulty in opening and closing them. The back gates were in need of repair works and they kept swinging open in the wind and couldn't be locked safely. The advertisement for the wood stove should indicate that the starter pack will only last one day and perhaps highlight this in the final email, as we could have brought some from home but had to go out and buy additional wood. Only one toilet roll per toilet was provided - 4 toilets, and with us booking for 17 adults you can guess this didn't last long. We then had to go out and buy a 16 pack for the weekend. No one could connect to the WIFI all weekend and we followed the instructions to use the password at the back of the hub but it did not work. Finally, the hassle I had trying to get in touch with the owners for the key code to the property was terrible. I would recommend that this is controlled by Sykes Cottages themselves as getting the key code on the day we are to commence our holiday, when most of our family members and friends had already set off from their homes, unknowing whether they would have somewhere to sleep that night is ridiculous!! The owner did eventually get in touch when we had already arrived and been given the key code from Sykes and kindly allowed us to stay until 5pm on our final day, however, the damage so to speak had already been done and completely put me off booking with Sykes Cottages again!!
