Hob and oven from a time long gone, I think it's time to spend some money and modernise including utensils and cutlery. Outside area could be so amazing but unfortunately, it's overgrown and neglected. It's definitely time to re-fresh and refurbish!

We were unable to use the bath as we couldn't get any hot water. Some attention is needed to the decking/fencing to the back of the property. All in all a very peaceful break

Thanks for your feedback, Linda, I usually advise guests to not turn the bath hot tsp on full but set it to flow hot by testing with hand, my apology as I must not have done so. Property Owner

  • "We had a very enjoyable and relaxing weekā€™s stay at Cooper cottage despite the weather being very mixed ."

The cottage was very comfortable, roomy and tastefully furnished and decorated . The only complaint we had was with the electric cooker which was a very old model and not particularly efficient ( a downer for us as we tend to cook in every evening ) . Keith , who showed us round when we first arrived was very personable and on hand if we required any information . The cottage was nicely situated , within easy reach of the coast and the Yorkshire Moors and some lovely market towns ( our favourite being Stokesley ) .For dog owners ,like ourselves , the open area outside the cottage was ideal for exercising your pet . Just a thought ā€¦ā€¦ perhaps a hand rail would be useful in the shower ( for the more elderly guests !!) .

  • "Lovely stay again thanks to Keith and Anji."

Cooper Cottage would benefit from a replacement fridge - current one has very little useable space due to freezer compartment (unnecessary, as there's a separate freezer) and batons in door pop out if anything of weight (ie milk / bottles) are stored in door storage. Appears the games room has been consigned to history, which is understandable if Pottofields Cottages don't get many young guests, but if you do get youngsters, it would enhance the holiday cottages if this was refreshed and updated. I noticed an EV charging point. We're still on petrol, sadly, but aspiring to an EV as soon as realistically possible. A real plus for holiday cottages in such a rural area where the nearest commercial charging points are probably quite a long way away. Fantastic to see commitment to carbon reduction. A lovely stay again! Keith is always very responsive and helpful. We'll probably be back :-)

  • "Excellent place to stay the location is fantastic peace and quite is the order of the day here."

The owner Keith is very welcoming and only to willing to help you out and engage in conversation.. My only suggestion would may the fitting of a fly screen on the entrance door as in the lovely weather if you leave the door open to sit on the decking you will get a lot of flies in the property. Apart from that it was great and we hope to go back soon

Unfortunately vehicle parking is at the rear of the property and there wasn't a ramp up to the rear door. Not really a problem but if it is raining it can be a little wet before getting around to the front door. Upon mentioning this to Keith, the owner of the property , he apologised and within five minutes he was outside the back door making an access ramp. Excellent customer care ! Had a really restful and relaxing stay at Pottofields farm and would recommend to anyone who wants to get away and leave the rat race behind for a while.

  • "My second stay at Cooper Cottage."

Keith was again very welcoming and helpful, and on hand to help with any queries. We had a really restorative stay. The kids enjoyed the quiet, rural location, and had great fun on the swings, including in the dark, where they enjoyed star gazing in the absence of light pollution. Being on the edge of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, Cooper Cottage is a great base from which to explore this beautiful area, with many lovely places to visit. I recommend a climb up Roseberry Topping on a clear day. We would also highly recommend the Blue Bell Inn at nearby Ingleby Cross for excellent pub food and an unspoiled country pub atmosphere. The staff were lovely, and the chef caters well for special dietary needs, in particular gluten free. Being a little "off grid" (no WiFi!) allowed us to enjoy some simple family pleasures, such as board games, in the evenings, where normally it might have been a struggle to prise my son away from his games console. The log burner added a lovely cosy element to the evenings. The facilities are lovely. Modern and clean, with all needs provided for, including dishwasher and washing machine. A minor point - ideally a fridge without a freezer compartment would be good, since the availability of a separate freezer (which is definitely a plus) negates any need for a freezer compartment in the fridge, and makes the actual fridge space rather small for a family. My only minor negative comment is (having come with my husband and children this time, as opposed to my mum and sister last time), the games room could do with a little TLC. There are no tips on the pool cues, so despite the presence of a pool table, you can't actually play. Could treat the room to a couple of new sets of darts, and a puck for the air hockey. None the less, we did make use of the games room, mainly the darts and the table football, and all enjoyed ourselves. I would definitely come again. Thanks Keith for a lovely stay.

My mum was born in Swainby and we have all visited Pottofields farm many years ago as the farm belonged to my mum's friend's family. Cooper Cottage was spacious, clean, comfortable and very good value for money. For constructive feedback we thought we would need a larger fridge if we were staying there as a family with children. We also struggled to get the water to come out of the shower at the right temperature. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and would be very happy to return. It really is a lovely location with views of the moors and is well set up for holidaymakers.

About the location

STOKESLEY

Great Ayton 3 miles; Saltburn-by-theā€“Sea 14 miles.

Stokesley is an attractive, elegant, historic market town which was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, with many interesting Georgian and Victorian buildings. The River Leven flows through the town and is crossed by the ancient Pack Horse Bridge. Levenside provides visitors with a peaceful riverside walk, well planted with trees, as a contrast to the bustle of the High Street. The town has a distinguished wide cobbled main street lined with Georgian and Regency buildings. It is well served with shops, banks, public houses and restaurants and the weekly Friday markets are held on the main square. Just off the market square is the Church of St Peter & St Paul which has woodwork carved by the Mouseman of Kilburn. Surrounded by the Cleveland Hills and close to the northern edge of the North York Moors, Stokesley provides an ideal base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales, the heather clad North Yorkshire Moors and the pretty market towns of Great Ayton, Northallerton and Thirsk. The seaside spa resort of Saltburn is 30 mins drive away whilst Whitby, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are within easy reach.
