  • "This was a self catering holiday, but unfortunately there was no cupboard space available for groceries."

The fridge had only one shelf which made it difficult to store perishables. The kitchen utensils were crammed in two drawers along with the knives, something I thought was rather dangerous. We took the time to organise the drawers a bit more safely. There was actually four sets of kitchen utensils if you included a wooden set as well as three gas lighters which was strange as the cooker was electric. The lack of privacy was an issue as well, the blinds were of the roller style which meant if you didn't want people looking in on you, you had to lower them which then cut out your light. This was just not in the living but in the bedroom which had blackout curtains on the doors.

All as advertised on the site. Warm, quiet and comfortable. Milk in the fridge, Yorkshire Tea in the caddy, dishwasher and laundry tablets provided too. Made use of the leisure pass, and it's well situated for exploring the area.Would definitely recommend.

  • "Beautifully presented property."

Very well equipped, very clean and in a perfect location. Being more mature and less agile, we would have appreciated a hand rail to get into the shower and a bath mat to prevent slipping. Also, a king size bed would be nice. We really enjoyed our time at The Krusty Krab and would definitely stay there again.

Many thanks for staying with us and thank you for your kind comments. We try to make sure our guests have everything they need in the kitchen area (washing machine, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, scales, mixer, pans, crockery etc.) for their stay with us. All these items take up space but are items our guests have always insisted on having. However, we have recently moved things around to try and free up more room in the cupboards for groceries. Hopefully this will make a difference if you stay with us again. Property Owner

There had been a very minor problem before we arrived with the bath draining but the owner messaged us and by the time we had returned from our first walk to Filey Bay the plumbers had fixed it. Cannot recommend this property too highly.

  • "Thanks for a nice stay."

The sofa wasn’t particularly comfortable. Everything seemed to be designed for giants ! Maybe provide a little stool to stand on to get to the top cupboards rather than a short person wobble on the seats! Could do with door hooks on the back of the bathroom and bedrooms? Would have been good to know it was within The Bay complex. Otherwise a nice little property with everything you need, however, felt a little bit miffed that I seem to have paid £200 over the odds booking through Sykes. Normally there is a good deal, but will be wary in the future!

  • "The apartment was well appointed, however we found the sofas less comfortable, likewise the dining chairs (not as per outdated website photos)."

The kitchen had good facilities however the wall cupboards were too high and completely out of reach for my 5'3" tall wife. Also there was no spare cupboard space for our foodstuffs, a particular problem. The bathroom was fine (again not as per outdated web photo) with a good shower. Bedroom was comfortable with adequate storage. Parking could be a problem as bays were not marked and some people parked inconsiderately. Overall an adequate apartment.

  • "This is a superb apartment and should be a 5 star property if presented properly, but only a 3 star for our week i'm afraid."

Something had been tipped into the cutlery draw, so all the cutlery was sticking together, which send alarms, so we had to check/wash all the kitchen wear, 1 cup had mildew in it, so we left that there so you could see for yourself. The white towels were good quality but looked grubby, the other problem with this property is the main and interior doors rattle any time the foyer door is opened or its windy outside to the extent you think someone is coming in, we had to put a chair against the outer door and put cardboard in the inner doors to stop them rattling. Sort these little things out and it's back to a definite 5 star.

The apartment was clean , comfortable ( especially the bed ) and quite surprisingly spacious . We have a small dog and there was plenty of room for him to roam about and play . Kitchen is small if you intend on staying in and cooking , then probably not for you . But who wants to cook on holiday ?, definitely not us . There were several menus in a draw from various takeaways and we made use of them had some lovely meals . We’re already thinking of booking again for next year . Very happy

  • "Although a newish property it was shabby and needs maintenance."

The door latches didn’t work. It had not been cleaned properly before we arrived. The floor was sticky and the bathroom was very unclean. There was food. left behind in the kitchen waste. The skirtings were covered in thick dust especially behind the bed and the bedside lights. The bedroom lampshade is falling apart. I have never complained about a property before and if something was not quite right, have just put up with it. However, after our stay at Krusty Krab, I feel that I must bring this to your attention so that someone else’s hard earned holiday is not spoilt by a shabby apartment. It did spoil an otherwise pleasant break in a lovely area.

I'm sorry to hear that you felt the apartment was shabby. I've never received feedback suggesting this before but will raise your concerns with my cleaner. I believe guests not only have my phone number but also the number of the cleaner is in the property so I'm a little disappointed neither of us were contacted to resolve your issues. Property Owner

Modern and clean. There was everything we needed. The cushions on the sofa were a bit hard, could do with being a bit softer. When the weather was very windy the doors moved when they were shut, so made a noise and the living room door catch didn’t come out, so the door wouldn’t stay shut. Apart from that it is a lovely apartment and we enjoyed our stay.

It looked freshly decorated as well. The facilities in the cottage was pleasantly abundant. The location was ideal to go exploring and we made the most of this. A couple of negatives though, no recycling (but there did not seem to be any on the bay at all). The bedroom needs better curtains as it was too light at night (partly due to the light on the road outside). I also had need to contact the owner to report an issue but after texting and calling i received no reply. I would though happily rebook this cottage.

I was a little concerned that Mr Sawyer had failed to get hold of me as I always either answer my calls and text messages or return them as soon as I possibly can. Having spoken with him, he realised that unfortunately he had dialled my number incorrectly. The issue in question resolved itself which is why Mr Sawyer didn't need to try me again Property Owner

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
