But. I have a disabled person with us. It was hard to get the in and out off the car and I when I but the heat on it whent off I do not now why. The parky. Is not good for a disability person at all.

I’m sorry to hear you had difficulties. If we’d been informed about the disabled visitor prior to your visit we could have directed you to alternative parking. The heating is set to default to16 degrees overnight (11pm - 6am) - that is the only reason we can think of that would cause it to go off. It was working fine for us the weekend following your stay. • "We were disappointed upon arrival that the wood burning stove was awaiting a part and was therefore not available to us."

This was one of the main reasons we picked Lobster Pot. In addition the boiler had been repaired the day before and left turned off so the beach hut was very cold and took a long time to get up to a comfortable temperature. This was after calling the owners for assistance. One of the lights in the dining area didn’t work, also wall sockets in the bedrooms and the heated towel rails in both bathrooms were not working. Apart from that the accomodation itself was good and we still enjoyed our stay at the Bay were we have stayed many times.

Had a great time Only downside was it’s quite a steep hill to the beach and wouldn’t be suitable for anyone who couldn’t walk very far There was a large field to walk any dogs which was great Other disappointment was no shop on the site but we drove to Filey for our supplies The pub on site (John Paul Jones) gets bad reviews but we thoroughly enjoyed the food and thought it was good value Would definitely recommend this holiday

The hosts definitely make sure that you have everything to hand both with regard to their home and also places to visit and a detailed pack on arrival - even accommodating guests who bring a dog with them and having bowls and lead available. For the children (and us adults) a variety of board games and DVDs for those rainy days or just pure fun in the evenings! We will definitely be returning with our new dog in the not too distant future and our girls loved the Beach Hut. Having the leisure centre on site was an additional plus and we booked both archery and tennis through them without any problems. Even booked a pamper session with Vanessa the Beautician who was very good. Everything went very smoothly from the booking to the day of arrival and Sykes Holiday Cottages informed us of the setup and when we would be contacted by the hosts. Couldn't fault this holiday at all - even the weather was brilliant!

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
