  • "This is a lovely property situated in a quiet residential area."

It is tastefully decorated, well equipped and ideally positioned for visiting this part of North Yorkshire. The visitors book indicates that guests have stayed here on multiple occasions and I can see why - I'd certainly choose this property again. The owner went the extra mile to ensure that everything was in order and also provided a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits.

What a lovely review, thank you. We'd love it if you became one of our returning cusromers. Property Owner

  • "The cottage it self was lovely and very comfortable but the garden was not enclosed as stated which I always look for."

The neighbours dog runs freely in the garden and my mum is scared of dogs so this meant we couldn't sit in the garden. Also the garden furniture was wrapped up and when I open it it was filthy so I had to wash it. I feel this should be done before you arrive.

Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you liked the house and found it comfortable. I agree, the garden furniture should have been uncovered before your arrival, this was an oversight on our part and I appologise for that. The back garden is currently not enclosed as it provides an extra parking space should it be needed. Property Owner

Everything we needed was provided for us. There was no dedicated parking but we arrived with 3 cars and there was plenty of room in the street for us all. We would definitely recommend staying at Sunnymede.

Each decision was well made and thought out in this unit. We enjoyed a great location for our needs with a quiet property that allowed us to host a small family dinner. We enjoyed being with family in a homelike environment and would honestly consider renting here again and trying more hiking trails.

  • "We would highly recommend staying in this cottage."

We found it very clean, comfortable, and well equipped (everything we needed to cook in the Kitchen and a hairdryer). The decor is lovely. Unlike one of the previous reviews we found the bed and pillows very comfortable. The cottage is situated in a good location for sightseeing (Bronte Parsonage Museum, Skipton Castle etc). As a previous review stated all the rooms are spacious.

Thank you for your kind review. From reading your comments in the visitors book you certainly found plenty to do and lovely places to visit. Property Owner

  • "Everything was superb beside the bed, the owner is really a nice person with a very clean house."

But after all we only wanted the house to stay over the night and that was why it was important for us to have a comfortable bed. Unfortunately the Mattress was the worst I ever slept on. We slept on the bed for the 1st night but my partner and I both had a very bad night and trouble sleeping and back pain in the morning and we decided to sleep on the floor for the 2nd night.

  • "Wonderful cottage."

Immaculately decorated and equipped. The rooms are all spacious and we felt totally at home there. The host, Michelle, is very approachable, and the "goodies" waiting for us on the kitchen table were most appreciated. Silsden is a small quiet town but has everything a visitor needs, pubs, eateries, a good sized supermarket. It is perfectly situated for exploring both the Yorkshire Dales and the Pennines. I would definitely recommend this cottage.

The property

Tucked away in a peaceful residential area of the small picturesque town of Silsden is the delightful mid-terrace holiday home, Sunnymede.

The property was fully refurbished for 2022 and is conveniently positioned on the fringes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, offering an excellent base for outdoor activities and relaxing alike.

Step over the threshold into the handy panelled hallway before moving through into the cosy sitting room to put your feet up.

A well designed kitchen/diner adjoins this space, beautifully appointed with a pastel green and cream interior and equipped with all of the essential amenities to help you feel at home and rustle up a range of delicious meals.

Moving through the property to the first floor, you’ll find two well-presented, good sized bedrooms, kings or twins, with a stylish shower room across the way, providing the perfect sleeping quarters for both friends and families sharing.

A short walk from your doorstep will bring you into the heart of Silsden where you’ll find all the local amenities; fuel a day of excursions with a hearty breakfast at one of the many independent cafes, or end an action packed day with a well deserved beverage at the hostilary of your choice.

Be sure to pack your clubs and spend a peaceful afternoon testing your swing on one of several golf courses in the area or at the handy local driving range, or follow the footpath alongside the glistening waters of the Leeds and Liverpool canal to the nearby market town of Skipton or in the opposite direction through Bingley Five-Rise Locks and onto the UNESCO world heritage site of Saltaire.

If walking seems a bit too energetic there’s always the option to charter a barge.

If history is your thing then Skipton castle, Bolton Abbey or the 17th Century National Trust property of East Riddlesden Hall are all just a stone’s throw away.

The more energetic walkers might like to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge or would you prefer to cycle the Yorkshire stage of the 2014 Tour de France?

The Pennine way is also on the doorstep - the options for outdoor activities are endless.

For those looking for a more relaxing visit be sure to take a trip to the nearby spa towns of Ilkley and Harrogate with their cafes, gardens and shops, or hop on the direct train to Leeds for a spot of city life.

A trip on the Worth Valley steam railway will take you up to the famous cobbles and historical Brontë Country of Haworth, a lovely way to spend a day.

However you plan to spend your time in Yorkshire, be sure to choose Sunnymede as your base.

About the location

SILSDEN

Bolton Abbey 8.5 miles; Ilkley 8.5 miles; Skipton 9 miles.

The pretty town of Silsden, set on the edge of the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park, commands sweeping views of the River Aire and its valley, and has a thriving community with local amenities. Although Silsden was originally an agricultural town, the construction of the nearby Leeds and Liverpool Canal meant that it later became an important centre for the mill industry, however the local economy is now largely supported by tourism, and it has become a perfect place to stay and explore the local area. Down the Aire Valley lies historic Skipton, known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, a quaint market town boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2008, the Academy of Urbanism voted the high street as the best shopping spot in Britain. In the next valley lies Addingham, a thriving, small community with several good pubs serving fine ale and excellent food, a scattering of small shops and a delightful golf course surrounded by breathtaking countryside. Nearby Bolton Abbey is one of the region's most scenic areas and the walk along the river to the Strid is a must. The Victorian Spa town of Ilkley is also worth a visit, with its wide streets, world-famous Box Tree Restaurant and Bettys Tea Rooms, while Ilkley Moor is the subject of Yorkshire's unofficial anthem “On Ilkla Moor Baht at”. With steam railways offering regular excursions through stunning scenery, canal day trips, castles and pretty market towns all available nearby, Silsden is a wonderful base for touring the Bronte Country and North and West Yorkshire.
