  • "Our second visit."

Wonderful cosy cottage, everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Great views over the bay and we would love a summer visit to make use of the garden and seating area. Owner is very helpful. Parking outside the cottage makes a huge difference. We would definitely recommend.

  • "We've stayed a few times at Heather Croft before and are always glad to return."

The cottage is beautifully clean on arrival with fresh flowers to greet you, and a welcome pack of biscuits! There have been some nice new additions this year ... with cosy cushions & throws to add to the already comfortable sofas downstairs and the new decking & outdoor furniture is perfect. The beds were lovely & fresh & comfy as usual and the kitchen & bathrooms spotless, with a nice powerful shower in the upstairs bathroom. Not having to bring your own towels is a bonus too, as all are provided for you. A lovely, comfy, well looked after cottage in a perfect location with just a short walk to Robin Hoods Bay. See you next year !

  • "Second stay at Heather Croft."

Three years after our first holiday there. Still a lovely cottage, well maintained, clean and well equipped. With a nice view from the lounge and kitchen French windows looking down towards the bay. A couple of minutes walk down to the central shop, coastal path and pub. Just away from the crowds, but close enough to join them.

  • "Lovely location with the view over the bay and within short walk of the nearest pub/hotel and Cleveland way."

Great accommodation in terms of quality and facilities. Decking was used extensively throughout our stay and a reasonable amount of wildlife could be seen without leaving the house including nightly visits from bats.. If the owner was looking to improve, a small balcony could be added to the first floor twin room via a door where the window currently is giving an even better view over Robin Hoods Bay. That said, could not fault the property or stay and hope to return to the same property in the future.

  • "Such a great holiday house."

Had everything we needed, everything worked and was super clean. Room for two cars in the drive and easy to find with the sign outside. The garden is amazing. Great sea view when sitting at the outside table on the decking area, and lovely grass to run around on. Doors can be kept open, really fresh. Location is excellent. Up the hill so you have great views, but we easily walked down to the bay everyday for rock pooling with our 2.5 and 4.5 year old. Really easy to drive to Whitby for day trips and the falling foss waterfall and tea room was fantastic. Robin Hood's Bay is so nice! Only a couple days into our holiday, I was planning our return trip. I'd definitely stay at this house again. Thank you so much

New decking at the back and garden furniture looks very inviting for the sunny months! The new bed in the main bedroom is very comfy. Brilliant position for visiting everything in the area with short walks to the pub and shops. Kitchen has everything you need and all the furniture is very comfy throughout the rooms.

  • "We found it impossible to contact the owner on the two numbers given to obtain the code for the key safe which we tried the day before our holiday and on arriving at the property."

We left voice mail messages which were not answered which we thought very rude and the messages inside the property saying ring if you need any further information would have been a waste of time using. We sat out side the property on our arrival at 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon and rang Sykes cottages who thankfully answered and managed to find the code so we could start our holiday. This would stop us using that property again or recommending it .

It's very warm n homely and a view that's just breathtaking. My only issue was the steep inclines down to the beach n then back to the cottage but then I'm from the south n we don't have these! You'd get quite fit. The surrounding locations are all lovely. You have the best of both worlds with coastline n moors. Just a fab location. I best mention they do great fish n chips!!

! The cottage has been done up since the photos - a new kitchen with a dishwasher! The kitchen has loads of facilities and is open plan with the living room so it’s great for the whole family. There is a big garden, gorgeous decking area and a summer house for the kids. It is very clean and well kept - much better than expected. The cottage is round the corner from 2 pubs - one with an amazing beer garden with views over the bay. The centre of the bay is a 10 min walk, there is a post office/ shop with good supplies a 2 min walk away. We were blessed with amazing weather for April and really loved our stay at Heather Croft - we would highly recommend it and hope to come back

three bedrooms one down stairs two up stairs with shower/toilet room up and bath/toilet room down so ideal for families. Some jigsaw puzzles and games for children and adults to play and some good books to read if the weather is nasty however it was beautiful while we were there . Small but ample garden at rear for kids to play in plus decking area for nice weather and play shed as well. Be prepared for a difficult walk down to the harbour and back as the way is very steep ok if you take your time , exhausting if you try to rush. It would be a profitable idea if someone local had some kind of transport for taking people up and down the hill to the harbour/village for a small fee I think it would be very popular. All in all a great place i would recommend it.

  • "The cottage was good value for money and the main strength was the wonderful view from the living room and kitchen."

We even sat on the decking once! It is spacious in terms of living accommodation and reasonably well equipped. The upstairs shower room is small and there is nowhere to put toiletries ( a shelf would help). There is more room in the downstairs bathroom , but a second shower over the bath would be a real bonus! The beds are fine and there is plenty of storage. The cooker is old and would benefit from an upgrade. Unfortunately the kitchen wasn't very clean when we arrived, but the owner was very quick to offer to remedy that. More tea towels would be nice. This is a beautiful area with excellent pubs and restaurants.

About the location

ROBIN HOOD’S BAY

Whitby 6 miles; Scarborough 17 miles.

Robin Hood's Bay, with its narrow cobbled streets and quaint cottages, is one of the most picturesque villages on the English coastline. Situated between Scarborough and Whitby, this charming old fishing village is to be found nestling at the edge of a wide sweeping bay backed by spectacular cliffs and dramatic moorland scenery, and was once home to author Leo Walmsley. All holidaymakers will love the beach and its cliff-top walks, whilst more serious walkers will enjoy the many long distance trails that pass through the Cleveland Way, the Lyke Wake Walk and the Coast to Coast walks which all take in Robin Hood’s Bay. The village amenities are superb, with charming alleyways to explore and plenty of places to rest, relax and take refreshment. A perfect base for enjoying the Yorkshire Coast.
