  • "We had a wonderful time at Pebble Cottage."

It’s perfectly situated, super clean and extremely well resourced with everything you need for a comfortable holiday. Milk, coffee, tea, even wine and chocs! The owner Glenis is lovely and communication with her was great. The Bay is a wonderful place to holiday, nice bars and pubs. We liked Brambles and the Laurel. Fish Box is good too. Right on the Cleveland Way for walks along the coast. Recommend Whitby, Saltburn and Staithes. We would book Pebble cottage again.

  • "The cottage was exceptionally clean and very well equipped in a way that was over and above many cottages I've stayed in before, and little added extra touches such as bath soap and bubble bath."

There were disposable roasting tins that made the New Years roast much more of a breeze. On arrival there was a really wonderful welcome package on the table that was incredibly gratefully received and milk in the fridge for a cuppa. The beds were very comfy, it was wonderful to have a soak in the roll top Bath after a day on the beach and the kids loved stopping in the quirky small room in the eaves. Location was perfect. About a third of the way down the main hill to the village, so great for getting down to the bay and equally not far from the carpark. The chippy was a stones throw away, which has great food and close to all the pubs and eateries of the village. The lady owner was kind enough to call and text prior to arrival to say she was on hand if we needed anything and a few tips to make the most of the weekend. Would 100% stay again and throughly recommend it to anyone.

A spacious sitting room and two outside areas were very welcome. Everything we needed was provided as efficiently as possible in an old cottage and I especially liked the simplicity of the appliances making them quick and easy to use. For part of the week we were at full capacity (four adults and two children) which meant the dining area was cramped partly due to the need for a high chair which won’t be necessary next year. The double bed downstairs creaked badly. All in all we loved our stay in pebble cottage and would book again if possible

It’s in a good spot ,halfway up the hill so not much walking in either direction with gardens to the front and back, beautifully decorated. I think you need to mention the steep stairs(10 of them) down to the sitting room I chose this cottage for the en-suite ground floor bedroom for my elderly mother which was great but was told there was only a few steps down to the sitting room. She found this difficult and therefore only used it once ,maybe another hand rail on the other side would help as they are also quite steep.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Pebble Cottage, we're glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay! We apologise for the scaffolding as we was not made aware of this, however when we had been informed we had offered a financial gesture off your booking. We do list that the property has steep stairs in the description. Property Owner

We were given a pass for the carpark which was an unexpected perk. We were given her phone number for direct contact if we needed it. She also left a selection of treats for us which were very welcomed. The kitchen is fitted out to a good standard, and the rest of the cottage is also decorated nicely. The weather didn't permit us to use the outside seating areas, but again these looked a well presented. I have stayed in similar sized cottages with very similar layouts, and they have not been to as high a standard as this one. I would highly recommend this cottage.

The owner had left some welcome treats and basics were also helpfully provided (loo roll, washing up liquid, soap and tea towels etc). It has a quirky layout, which adds to the charm, with great sea views from the bedrooms. Nice outdoor seating area to eat out when it's warm enough, which we managed once! Good chippy nearby for lazy nights in, main drawback being that it closes at 7.00pm during the week. The local grocery shop stocks basics and is just a short walk down the hill. We stayed for a week and largely based ourselves locally, enjoying exploring the area on foot and eating out nearby. Would certainly recommend this place for any couple or young family.

About the location

ROBIN HOOD’S BAY

Whitby 6 miles; Scarborough 17 miles.

Robin Hood's Bay, with its narrow cobbled streets and quaint cottages, is one of the most picturesque villages on the English coastline. Situated between Scarborough and Whitby, this charming old fishing village is to be found nestling at the edge of a wide sweeping bay backed by spectacular cliffs and dramatic moorland scenery, and was once home to author Leo Walmsley. All holidaymakers will love the beach and its cliff-top walks, whilst more serious walkers will enjoy the many long distance trails that pass through the Cleveland Way, the Lyke Wake Walk and the Coast to Coast walks which all take in Robin Hood’s Bay. The village amenities are superb, with charming alleyways to explore and plenty of places to rest, relax and take refreshment. A perfect base for enjoying the Yorkshire Coast.
