  • "Absolutely lovely cottage with stunning views, very well equipped, would highly recommend."

Only one minor point was the lack of wardrobe and drawer space upstairs but the bedrooms are not really big enough to fit more in. Having said that it didn't spoil our holiday, as overall it is a beautiful quaint cottage. The owners also left a superb welcome basket which was very much appreciated. We would definitely like to return depending on the cost as we noticed the prices seem to have increased for next year.

  • "The only fault we found with the property was lack of space for clothes in the bedrooms."

There was only one bedroom with a small cupboard to hang clothes in, the others just had a rack with space for about 6 hangers, also there were no drawers at all for clothes. everything else was lovely, the owners left us a welcome pack including treats for the dog and a lovely vase of flowers.

  • "Lack of storage space in bedrooms was awkward."

Lived out of suitcases all week. However, the location of the house was exceptional. We are looking forward to another visit in the future.

  • "The garden was beautiful, the facilities were very good."

We loved the spacious lounge and large dining table which were used on the odd rainy day. A couple of pointers for improvement: we did have to spend time cleaning the property before moving in, things like dirty fridge, dirty barbecue. Some of the kitchen implements are in need of replacement. The viewing station with binoculars was a great hit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would seriously consider booking again.

The kitchen had everything you could ever need and everywhere was spotless. The views were amazing. Our two dogs loved exploring in the enclosed large garden. We would love to come back.

  • "Fantastic cottage, it had everything we needed and more."

The location is great and a lovely walk down into Staithes. The children spent hours looking out to sea following the ships. Spotless accommodation, beautiful garden, great facilities we really couldn't have asked for more. Hopefully we will be back soon.

  • "Beautifull cottage, lovely modern touches & so very clean."

With every thing we needed. We were so pleased on check in that we look straight on your website to book again for same time next year , only to be very disapointed with the price £973.00(we paid £390.00)for our stay!! Rising to over £2000.00in summer

Thank you for your lovely feedback. Unfortunately we are no longer able to offer the cottage for short breaks and have decided to just take weekly bookings,.this is why you have noted such a price difference. Should you be able to book a week we would love to welcome you back. Many thanks for your custom Property Owner

  • "A wonderful cottage in a beautiful spot right on the Cleveland Way."

Amazing views and perfect for walkers with Staithes only a mile away. The garden was amazing and really relaxing. Unfortunately, both fridges were in need of more cleaning and we found a dirty towel on the floor in the upstairs bathroom which was very disturbing especially during the pandemic when we hoped cleaning would be a priority.

  • "The cottage was very nice and had most things you need for a holiday."

We thought the lack of wardrobes was an issue especially if you had 8 occupants. The cottage is beautifully presented but not practical. 1) The roped staircase rail was a hazard and we had to repair it. Not suitable for older residents. 2) No cupboard space upstairs. 3) The vent in the on suite was very noisy especially when we had high winds. 4) Hook behind doors would be useful. The cottage was in a fantastic position so apart from these minor issues we had a fantastic stay.

  • "We had a lovely week in August at this cottage overlooking the sea."

It is set in a heavenly setting. We just couldn't get enought of looking out to sea, we saw dolphines on two days. The cottage is beautifully equipped inside making a comfortable stay. The gardens are beautiful and sitting on the terrace you can get view of the sea. We would definitely like to come back again. One day we walked to Staithes and also had a walk along the Cleveland Way. Definitely recommend a visit/stay.

About the location

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
