"The cottage was so clean, really well presented and had everything you could ask for."
It was a home from home. With a fantastic enclosed garden, lovely hot tub and patio area.
The outside hot shower was an absolute bonus
"The Hot tub was amazing, the cottage was clean and bright and really felt like a home from home."
If you have a chance to go here on holiday - do so!!!
"An excellent holiday in a lovely bungalow, the hottub was a lovely bonus!"
"Lovely comfy, clean cottage with a great hot tub with outdoor shower."
Area could be better with not an awful lot to offer.
"This a a lovely bungalow with a great enclosed garden."
However, there is a front gate (which you can't see if you are sat outside or in the kitchen) which does open out on to Rectory road, which is very busy. Just something to be aware of.
It doesn't state in your description of the property that there is a charge to use the washing machine and tumble dryer. It's £1 for 30 mins. It's hard to judge how much money to put in to do a wash and it proved costly. There is no information on how long the washing cycles take; it would be handy for this information to be available (couldn't find any washing machine instructions ).
Tunstall beach is mentioned as good beach to take your dog for a walk. However, we went only to find the road to the beach closed due to coastal erosion. Having asked one of the locals, we were told that the only access to this beach is by the sea.
"Fabulous holiday, we had everything and more in the cottage."
Our dog was safe to run around the garden, the hot tub was an added bonus!! Highly recommend Sullivan’s in Hornsea for fish and chips and the martonian inn in Bridlington the food was fab!! We can’t wait to come back!
"Had a lovely time in this cottage."
Its home from home, everything you could ever want. Dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer all added bonuses. Hot tub in covered area was incredible. Outside towels and flip flops a great idea along with outside toilet and shower. The garden is huge and totally enclosed which was great for our 3 year old to run around in. Cottage was clean and the double bed was super comfy. Very peaceful area with lovely walks. The village is full of friendly people and we even treated ourselves to a massage at Pure therpay which was wonderful.
Highly recommended staying here - the photos do not do this place justice.
"This place is a gem!"
A lovely cottage, in a good location to visit the coast. Very clean, with everything you need for your stay, plus a few extra goodies. The hot tub is fantastic, and the outdoor warm shower and utility room is such a bonus. The garden is lovely and all enclosed, so perfect for our children and dog to explore safely. We would definitely recommend a visit here!
"Cottage was brilliant for the dog, totally secure and felt totally safe."
Lovely touches on arrival fresh flowers, fizz and biscuits and some basics available to use! Photos do not do the garden justice, hot tub was great too, it was lovely. would def stay again!
"A lovely house with big secure gardens so great for the dog to explore and the outside shower and sliders provided for use with the hot tub were a great touch."
Also, in the house the fresh flowers in every room and Prosecco in the fridge on arrival was a nice surprise. Finally the people in the Roos Arms pub in the village were very welcoming and suggested some walks. We would definitely stay here again
"A lovely cottage, very well equipped, clean and so peaceful."
The hot tub was fantastic and the outside shower and utility room were a bonus. Big garden with some resident squirrels that we saw hopping along the fence daily! We had a lovely walk on the beach at Withernsea and had some amazing pies from the butchers in Roos.
"We had a 3 night break at shepherd's cottage and it was fabulous."
The cottage is charming and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The hot tub is a bonus and towels and flip flops are provided for use - perfect. We will certainly be returning.
"Shepherds cottage was a lovely place to stay, we had a very relaxing week exploring the local area."
Roos is a friendly village with a fantastic butchers/bakers and local shop that meets basic needs. Our only negative would be that the farm across the road letting off the air cannon to frighten the birds starting at 7.30am, every morning and going on till early evening unfortunately terrified our poor staffy to the point that he escaped the garden and bolted through the village. We realise this is out of owners control but a heads up that there were loud noises that may upset your pets would have been good. He didn't enjoy his stay even though we were out all day and came back in the evening.
"It was our first ever stay in a cottage and we couldnt have picked better it ..."
It was our first ever stay in a cottage and we couldnt have picked better it exceeded our expectations it was brilliant the hot tub was an absolute bonus it had everything you needed the cottage was spotless and so homely the garden is really big and well looked after with a little patio set the log burner in the sitting room adds to cozy nights the village is rather quiet but the people are really friendly we would definitely reccomend
"The cottage was fantastic looked great in the photos but when you actually get there it’s even better."
The owner couldn’t do enough for us.
The only downside was you needed a car to get from a to b. And the holiday went far too quick.
Would definitely book again.
"Considering I like to read reviews before I book, it seemed only right that I write one!"
This cottage is just lovely! And Sykes photos don’t cover the outside well enough, the garden is huge and enclosed with the most fantastic hot tub coverd by a wooden gazebo structure, you then have a lovely outside warm shower, attached to a small building housing a toilet, washing and drying facilities! What more do you need, with a large kitchen and very comfy beds we will definitely be back.
"Beautiful cottage with a lovely garden."
Everything we needed plus more. The owners were friendly and very helpful and accommodating.
It just felt like home. Hope we can return
"We had a fabulous week in this lovely, spacious, well-equipped and well-appointed cottage."
The photos don't do it justice! It's lovely and comfortable with an enormous, private, wrap-around garden, which Bertie the elderly Staffy loved running round and round in. The weather which had been wet and grey for a few weeks decided to be kind to us and we enjoyed sitting outside, where there's a hot tub (we don't do hot tubs, but many people would enjoy it) and a barbecue (we don't do those either!) as well as a great table and chairs plus parasol. We appreciated the bottle of cava and savoury snacks left for us very much.
Roos is a very nice village with more amenities than its size would usually warrant - there's a shop/post office, a great butcher and baker, two pubs (one of which does food) and even a bespoke bridal wear shop for all your wedding needs!
In fact, we loved it so much we booked to stay again the day after we returned so that we can enjoy the lovely cosy lounge with its wood-burning stove in the winter.
"Lovely cosy cottage very clean and well looked after"
"Accommodating owners, nothing was too much for them."
Accommodation was in a nice relaxing area where you could slip on your walking boots and enjoy a leisurely walk to then upon your return to enjoy a relaxing soak in the Hot Tub. The garden was a great area for our four legged member of the family to run around and enjoy in a secure environment. We will visit again in the future.
"We enjoyed everything about the holiday the cottage was fab , cosy and spotless clean ."
The hot tub was amazing . The village was lovely and with two lovely pubs that were both dog friendly . The butchers in the village make georgeous home made pies . The villagers were all friendly too . Everything was spot on.
"Hot tub great,garden was a great size n beautiful,the pictures don't do it ..."
Hot tub great, garden was a great size n beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice, the cottage was very cosy,it had everything we could need
"Shepherds Cottage was above our expectations, it had everything you needed and more, the garden was fantastic for the dog to wander without worrying he would get out, the hot tub was amazing."
The attention to detail was brilliant. The beds was so.comfy, I could just keep going on about the cottage - we will definitely be back
"The cottage is perfect."
Really homely and everything we needed for our stay. The hot tub is an added bonus. The garden is fantastic, really secure, even our tiny dog couldn't find a way out. Roos is a lovely village, the two pubs are both good and very welcoming, both dog friendly. The butchers/bakers and the village shop have a great choice. Great location, easy to get to Hornsea, Bridlington, Withernsea and Spurn.
"Absolutely loved our week in Shepherds Cottage."
It was immaculately clean, well equipped and we felt right at home. Lots of nice touches (board games, books, smart TV, BBQ etc). Lovely location. Spacious, secure garden for the dog. Perfectly clean / maintained hot tub. Already booked another stay. Thank you very much.
"Great cottage everything we needed, sleeps five, Garden well kept with hot tub."
seating with BQ, off road parking, we would recommend to anyone local shops,2 pubs that do meals post office, butchers, plus 4 miles to sea, especially older people because it is a place to relax, we will certainly book again sometime
Mr & Mrs C Doncaster.
"Shepherds cottage is the perfect place to relax after a long day out, shopping and site seeing."
Chill out in the Jacuzzi, or just sit out on the large patio with a glass of wine.
Well fitted out, comfortable beds, nice and cosy with everything you need. The large garden is very dog friendly, so you can let your four legged friend out knowing he or she is safe.
The Roos Arms near by is a fantastic place to go to for a meal, excellent food and very friendly staff.
While your there take a trip over the Humber Bridge, it's a marvel of engineering, and while your in Hull, try a Hull Pattie with chips.
We loved staying at Shepherds Cottage and we think you will love it to.
"Lovely cottage, in wrong place."
The town is dead for most of the week (except the butchers) . The hot tub was cold when we arrived so could not use it on first night. There is a lack of instructions to help work equipment, and no where to store food ,except the fridge freezer. It would help if bin collection days were listed.
Finally, the pictures on line are old and do not show the housing development built surrounding and overlooking the cottage. The information on line also does not mention the fast noisy road outside the cottage, and the bird scarer going off every couple of minutes through the day from the farm opposite.
"The little touches like hand cream, tissues in every room, sweet jar , flip flops and towels for the hot tub were really thoughtful and much appreciated."
Only one thing we would have liked would be a clock outside by the hot tub, as you can easily loose track of time.
"The cottage is beautiful with a lovely big secure garden."
We left a day early...because the neighbour at the property was flagging and from 08.30 in the morning all you could hear was a grinder and banging...dust coming over the fence when we were trying to chill in the jacuzzi.
However the cottage itself was lovely, would swap the dishwasher for a washing machine. All amenities were great and plenty of nice walks in the area.
"Wonderful cottage, a home from home."
Beautiful throughout the entire property, excellent location in a lovely private garden.
"A lovely exceptionally clean cottage set in a small attractive village served by two pubs, baker, butcher and village shop."
Hot tub provides a great source of relaxation. Easy access to coastal towns and beaches and inland Beverly, Hull and York within an hour. Only downsides , beds rather uncomfortable and no washing machine.
"This cottage has all the amenities you could wish for - a little gem - close enough to the coast but set in a quiet village."
"The Shepard’s cottage was absolutely fantastic the village of Roos was perfect ..."
The Shepard’s cottage was absolutely fantastic the village of Roos was perfect for a few days retreat
but within a mile of 2 lovely pubs highly recommended
"Fantastic break away with the girls, gorgeous cottage although a little difficult to find in the dark evening but once settled was absolutely beautiful."
Would definitely recommend
"The cottage was just amazing!"
Perfect quiet location but accessable to local beaches and seaside towns. Excellent facilities. Dog friendly & secure garden for both children & pets. It had a lovely hot tub set in beautiful big gardens. Most importantly it has everything a family could need and it was very clean too.
"A beautiful cosy cottage with everything you need ."
Enclosed garden for the dog and lots of places to walk with him even the local pubs were dog friendly.
Only negative was it says in the manual hot tub would be checked every day and it wasn’t so by the end of the week it was dirty .
Check out was 10 o’clock and the cleaners literally arrived at 10 to 10 which ment us rushing to vacate the cottage which wasn’t ideal.
"Pictures on the internet don’t do it justice, clean relaxing comfortable well equipped cottage, good location would definitely book again."
"Absolutely lovely accommodation."
would definitely go again but too far for us to travel. 61/2 hrs to get there.
"Gorgeous cottage and location!"
Hot tub was fab and we loved the massive (and secure) garden for our little dog. The local butchers was great, and the pubs were very welcoming. Fab meal at the Nancy Inn :) Thoroughly enjoyed our week here and already looking at a return visit next year! Thank you!
"Lovely cottage, very spacious and huge garden."
Issue with the fence mentioned on previous feedback has been fixed, all secure now so dog was safe in the garden.
"Really enjoyed our stay at Shepherds Cottage."
The cottage was lovely and the garden was great. The village of Roos was also really nice and enjoyed a day trip to Fraisthorpe Beach which was fantastic and dog friendly. Would recommend the property!
"The hot tub was an unexpected extra and perfect for the weather we enjoyed all week."
The cottage was very peaceful and comfortable with almost all you could wish for. I would suggest supplying an iron, ironing board and a washing line, essential for drying the towels etc after getting out of the hot tub.
"Cottage was lovely better than we thought."
Booking was easy and simple.
"You must make dog owners booking this cottage aware that the garden is not completely enclosed and therefore not dog friendly."
There are 2 sides complete with fencing but the other two are hedges and ranch fencing with gaps galore.
Also, the road immediately outside has lots of traffic ( from 5 am until at least 9 pm) including large farm vehicles. The drivers are going faster than expected or stated in village. This would be a factor for families with young children to consider.
These 2 problems were quoted in the guest book in the property. Those people should have made sure that their rental companies were made aware of the situation too.
Hopefully you will take note of my information and either advise future renters of this situation or get the owners to rectify things. We couldn't go back without the reassurance of a completely fenced space for our dog.
"Lovely cottage in a lovely village of Roos, we had a brilliant week with ..."
Lovely cottage in a lovely village of Roos, we had a brilliant week with fantastic weather, beautiful garden, and had a soak in the hot tub, the local pub the Roos Arms did a fantastic Sunday lunch, would recommend this cottage
"Fabulous cottage with a great hot tub"
"We had a fab week at shepherds cottage, the cottage was beautiful, we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and exploring surrounding areas and beaches."
The cottage has a beautiful garden, ideal for summer months to enjoy a BBQ. Owners were brilliant. Neighbours were also very friendly. We would definitely recommend this property and would love to return in the summer
"We had a great stay, the cottage would benefit from a washer/dryer."
But all else was exceptional. Thank you for the treats and bubbly.
"Beautiful cottage, every comfort catered for."
Garden full of wildlife. Wonderful village and surroundings. Easy to book, staff very friendly and knowledgeable.
