  • "This a a lovely bungalow with a great enclosed garden."

However, there is a front gate (which you can't see if you are sat outside or in the kitchen) which does open out on to Rectory road, which is very busy. Just something to be aware of. It doesn't state in your description of the property that there is a charge to use the washing machine and tumble dryer. It's £1 for 30 mins. It's hard to judge how much money to put in to do a wash and it proved costly. There is no information on how long the washing cycles take; it would be handy for this information to be available (couldn't find any washing machine instructions ). Tunstall beach is mentioned as good beach to take your dog for a walk. However, we went only to find the road to the beach closed due to coastal erosion. Having asked one of the locals, we were told that the only access to this beach is by the sea.

Its home from home, everything you could ever want. Dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer all added bonuses. Hot tub in covered area was incredible. Outside towels and flip flops a great idea along with outside toilet and shower. The garden is huge and totally enclosed which was great for our 3 year old to run around in. Cottage was clean and the double bed was super comfy. Very peaceful area with lovely walks. The village is full of friendly people and we even treated ourselves to a massage at Pure therpay which was wonderful. Highly recommended staying here - the photos do not do this place justice.

The hot tub is fantastic, and the outdoor warm shower and utility room is such a bonus. The garden is lovely and all enclosed, so perfect for our children and dog to explore safely. We would definitely recommend a visit here!

Also, in the house the fresh flowers in every room and Prosecco in the fridge on arrival was a nice surprise. Finally the people in the Roos Arms pub in the village were very welcoming and suggested some walks. We would definitely stay here again

  • "Shepherds cottage was a lovely place to stay, we had a very relaxing week exploring the local area."

Roos is a friendly village with a fantastic butchers/bakers and local shop that meets basic needs. Our only negative would be that the farm across the road letting off the air cannon to frighten the birds starting at 7.30am, every morning and going on till early evening unfortunately terrified our poor staffy to the point that he escaped the garden and bolted through the village. We realise this is out of owners control but a heads up that there were loud noises that may upset your pets would have been good. He didn't enjoy his stay even though we were out all day and came back in the evening.

This cottage is just lovely! And Sykes photos don’t cover the outside well enough, the garden is huge and enclosed with the most fantastic hot tub coverd by a wooden gazebo structure, you then have a lovely outside warm shower, attached to a small building housing a toilet, washing and drying facilities! What more do you need, with a large kitchen and very comfy beds we will definitely be back.

  • "We had a fabulous week in this lovely, spacious, well-equipped and well-appointed cottage."

The photos don't do it justice! It's lovely and comfortable with an enormous, private, wrap-around garden, which Bertie the elderly Staffy loved running round and round in. The weather which had been wet and grey for a few weeks decided to be kind to us and we enjoyed sitting outside, where there's a hot tub (we don't do hot tubs, but many people would enjoy it) and a barbecue (we don't do those either!) as well as a great table and chairs plus parasol. We appreciated the bottle of cava and savoury snacks left for us very much. Roos is a very nice village with more amenities than its size would usually warrant - there's a shop/post office, a great butcher and baker, two pubs (one of which does food) and even a bespoke bridal wear shop for all your wedding needs! In fact, we loved it so much we booked to stay again the day after we returned so that we can enjoy the lovely cosy lounge with its wood-burning stove in the winter.

The large garden is very dog friendly, so you can let your four legged friend out knowing he or she is safe. The Roos Arms near by is a fantastic place to go to for a meal, excellent food and very friendly staff. While your there take a trip over the Humber Bridge, it's a marvel of engineering, and while your in Hull, try a Hull Pattie with chips. We loved staying at Shepherds Cottage and we think you will love it to. Highly recomended.

  • "Lovely cottage, in wrong place."

The town is dead for most of the week (except the butchers) . The hot tub was cold when we arrived so could not use it on first night. There is a lack of instructions to help work equipment, and no where to store food ,except the fridge freezer. It would help if bin collection days were listed. Finally, the pictures on line are old and do not show the housing development built surrounding and overlooking the cottage. The information on line also does not mention the fast noisy road outside the cottage, and the bird scarer going off every couple of minutes through the day from the farm opposite.

We left a day early...because the neighbour at the property was flagging and from 08.30 in the morning all you could hear was a grinder and banging...dust coming over the fence when we were trying to chill in the jacuzzi. • "You must make dog owners booking this cottage aware that the garden is not completely enclosed and therefore not dog friendly."

There are 2 sides complete with fencing but the other two are hedges and ranch fencing with gaps galore. Also, the road immediately outside has lots of traffic ( from 5 am until at least 9 pm) including large farm vehicles. The drivers are going faster than expected or stated in village. This would be a factor for families with young children to consider. These 2 problems were quoted in the guest book in the property. Those people should have made sure that their rental companies were made aware of the situation too. Hopefully you will take note of my information and either advise future renters of this situation or get the owners to rectify things. We couldn't go back without the reassurance of a completely fenced space for our dog.
