  • “No freezer or freezer compartment in fridge so could not use our ice packs for use in cold box so missed out on the good food in the farm shops.”

    - Mrs Jewison, June 2019

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review. We're pleased you were still able to utilise your cold box during your holiday and enjoyed some excellent meals at the local farm shops. The cottage offers a simple larder fridge as per the property description and this was highlighted to you before the start of your holiday. kind regards - Sykes owner relations

The property

A most charming detached stone cottage, situated in a secluded courtyard setting in Rosedale Abbey village, in the heart of the North York Moors.

It provides a lovely romantic hideaway for couples wanting to get away from it all, with excellent walking and cycling opportunities from the doorstep.

Thoughtfully furnished and decorated to a high standard, there is a warm and inviting generous-sized open plan living area, with comfortable seating, a well-equipped modern kitchen and a dining area.

The high vaulted ceiling and picture windows give a spacious feel, yet the cottage still retains its cosy ambience.

The double bedroom leads off from the sitting room and is complemented by quality bedding and a bright contemporary en-suite.

Outside, there is private parking and a patio area where you can sit with a morning coffee.

With stunning scenery and an enviable network of public footpaths, this area is a walker's paradise.

Pickering and Kirkbymoorside offer a good selection of amenities including restaurants, independent shops and tearooms.

Rosedale Abbey's glass studio is also very close by which has recently been featured in an episode of Countryfile in April 2019.

Castle Howard and the ancient city of York are well worth a day’s outing and the seaside resorts of Whitby, Filey and Scarborough are all accessible by car.

A wonderful area to explore, from a delightful cottage.

About the location

ROSEDALE ABBEY

Kirkbymoorside 8 miles; Pickering 10 miles; Whitby 16 miles.

Situated in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and handily placed for touring both the Moors and the Coast, the picturesque village of Rosedale Abbey is set within Rosedale, a beautiful valley of sweeping hillsides and breathtaking views. Rosedale is surrounded by wonderful moorland countryside with footpaths and bridleways radiating out in every direction. Today, a stone pillar, staircase and sundial are all that is left of the 12th century Cistercian Priory that gave the village its unusual name. Charming stone built cottages cluster around the village green alongside the village shops, tea rooms, glass studio and three old country pubs/restaurants. For entertainment visit Rosedale Abbey's very own pitch-and-putt golf course and riding stables. Follow this with a visit to Ryedale Folk Museum in the pretty village of Hutton-le-Hole. Alternatively, embrace the outdoors and "Go Ape" in Dalby forest for a truly memorable and adventurous family fun day out. Visit Rievaulx and Byland Abbeys and take a trip on the North York Moors Steam Railway at nearby Pickering. Golfers will enjoy a round on the picturesque course at Kirkbymoorside and anglers can try their luck trout fishing at Pickering. Enjoy a trip to Helmsley Castle and Gardens and take a dip in the open air swimming pool. The coastal towns and fishing villages of the Yorkshire Coast are within easy driving distance. Special events occur annually throughout the year and include Rosedale Annual Show, Pickering War weekend, Whitby Folk and Whitby Goth weekends.
