“A lovely cottage, spotlessly clean and very well appointed.”

Everything was of high quality. Sally has created a very comfortable holiday home. We had a perfect week end but wished we could have stayed longer.

The property

This superb mid-terrace characterful cottage was originally the Post Office in the heart of the pretty village of Rosedale Abbey.

Surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the North York Moors, there are wonderful walking opportunities from the doorstep, yet within easy reach of the bustling market towns of Kirkbymoorside, Helmsley and Pickering.

The property has been beautifully converted to the highest of standards and boasts a 4 star Gold Award for its attention to detail and wonderful ambiance.

With a tasteful Post Office theme running through it, there is a bright and cheerful sitting room, with an electric woodburner-effect stove set in a feature stone fireplace.

With two brick pillars dividing this very spacious room, comfortable seating is dotted around, allowing for plenty of privacy and quiet corners to sit and relax.

For television lovers, the 48" Smart TV, with facility for Netflix, will be a big hit!

The well-equipped modern kitchen has an electric range cooker, ideal for preparing tasty family meals, while the main dining table is set in the sitting room.

The bedrooms are mainly on the first floor, two with the added advantage of an en-suite and all with quality bedding and beds, ensuring a good night's sleep.

Outside the cottage, there is access down a private path which leads to a sunny patio area, perfect for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine, whilst the local pubs and shop are just a minute's walk.

With an enviable network of public footpaths, the stunning countryside is a walker's paradise, whilst the historic market towns offer excellent restaurants, independent shops, quaint tea rooms and regular market days.

Visit the abbeys at Rievaulx and Byland and take a trip on the North York Moors Steam Railway at nearby Pickering.

Castle Howard and the historic City of York are well worth a day’s outing and the seaside resorts of Whitby, Filey and Scarborough are all within easy reach.

A superb Yorkshire country cottage for a memorable holiday at any time of the year.

About the location

Kirkbymoorside 8 miles; Pickering 10 miles; Whitby 16 miles.

Situated in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and handily placed for touring both the Moors and the Coast, the picturesque village of Rosedale Abbey is set within Rosedale, a beautiful valley of sweeping hillsides and breathtaking views. Rosedale is surrounded by wonderful moorland countryside with footpaths and bridleways radiating out in every direction. Today, a stone pillar, staircase and sundial are all that is left of the 12th century Cistercian Priory that gave the village its unusual name. Charming stone built cottages cluster around the village green alongside the village shops, tea rooms, glass studio and three old country pubs/restaurants. For entertainment visit Rosedale Abbey's very own pitch-and-putt golf course and riding stables. Follow this with a visit to Ryedale Folk Museum in the pretty village of Hutton-le-Hole. Alternatively, embrace the outdoors and "Go Ape" in Dalby forest for a truly memorable and adventurous family fun day out. Visit Rievaulx and Byland Abbeys and take a trip on the North York Moors Steam Railway at nearby Pickering. Golfers will enjoy a round on the picturesque course at Kirkbymoorside and anglers can try their luck trout fishing at Pickering. Enjoy a trip to Helmsley Castle and Gardens and take a dip in the open air swimming pool. The coastal towns and fishing villages of the Yorkshire Coast are within easy driving distance. Special events occur annually throughout the year and include Rosedale Annual Show, Pickering War weekend, Whitby Folk and Whitby Goth weekends.
