“We had a lovely little break at Halloween, the owner is so lovely she made sure we knew how to use the log burner which was so cozy.”

Every where was spotless clean. I particularly liked the pink velour bedding and beds were so comfy. It's a great location we had lovely walk down to runswick bay and went to whitby. Thank you for being a lovely host .

The property

Situated just paces away from the glorious coast of the North York Moors National Park and hidden away in the village of Runswick Bay is this semi-detached property.

Coach House Cottage is the ideal base for families to come together to celebrate a special occasion or to explore this majestic part of the coastline, the National Park and beyond.

After an action-packed day, look forward to coming back to this real home from home, where you can unwind and prepare for a new day.

Enter the kitchen, which is certain to entice a spot of home-cooking with the provided utilities and plenty of preparation space, as well as a washing machine so that you can wash away the sand from your clothes from that day’s beach trip.

Settle down for dinner with all your loved ones around you at the formal dining table, making a great social space for planning the days ahead or whiling away a couple of hours playing a board game brought from home.

Afterwards, venture into the sitting room and light up the fire, before snuggling up on the plush seating arrangement and flicking on the TV.

Once the evening draws to a close, head upstairs to find three bedrooms and a family bathroom with a bath and a walk-in shower.

Here, you will find two well-presented king-size bedrooms with superb countryside views and a single bedroom.

During the summer months, take your dining experience outdoors to the alfresco dining table, which is situated within the open garden, perfect for letting your pet roam the lawn.

Immerse yourself in your local surroundings further by taking a stroll into Runswick Bay, home to one of the most picturesque beaches and a family favourite for rock pooling, fossil hunting and coastal walks.

Look forward to investigating the beach’s Hob Holes, which are small caves in the cliffs where hobgoblins supposedly once lived.

Here, you will find a number of quaint pubs and tearooms; however, a larger selection can be found a short distance away in Staithes, where a shop and more pubs accompany its higgledy-piggledy cottages and winding streets.

Learn about the village’s history by visiting the Captain Cook & Staithes Heritage Centre or soak up the dramatic views further and walk along the Cleveland Way.

Alternatively, head further afield to the town of Whitby, home to the ruined Gothic Whitby Abbey, Captain Cook Memorial Museum and the famous 199 steps up to the Church of St. Mary.

With all the wonder of the North Yorkshire Moors at your doorstep, Coach House Cottage promises to be a wonderful getaway.

About the location

Staithes 2 miles; Whitby 9 miles; Saltburn-by-the-Sea 10 miles.

The historic fishing village of Runswick Bay is without doubt one of the true gems of the Yorkshire Coast, if not the whole of the UK. This picturesque SE-facing village situated 9 miles from Whitby sits in a beautiful sheltered sandy-beached bay backed by spectacular cliffs and moorland scenery. Relatively un-commercialised and with vehicular traffic restricted, the village provides the perfect setting in which to relax and unwind. Relish in taking long walks on either the sandy beach or along the Cleveland Way on the clifftop above. There is much to do in the local area, whether it's visiting Whitby with its famous Abbey, Staithes with its pretty shops, cafes and superb art gallery, or touring the dramatic North York Moors. The lower village houses a local inn serving food along with a spectacularly situated cafe, whilst nearby Hinderwell provides 2 inns, a fish and chip shop, a local butchers and a garage/petrol station. A Co-op is situated at Staithes 2 miles away.
