  • "The lodge is beautiful but the blinds were broken in the master bedroom so could not close properly or open to use window and ventilate room."

Very bright mornings and very hot. Also the en suite smells damp and of drains luckily the window opened in here. The water pressure in showers is very poor. We stayed last year and were disappointed that the decking furniture has been changed for much smaller ones and there are not enough seats. Otherwise a gorgeous lodge just would benefit from a few improvements to be more comfortable. Thank you.

  • "The lodge was beautiful, spacious and bright."

The layout worked well for our family and our daughter especially loved the bunks. Set in a peaceful setting, we enjoyed the quiet that it offered. However, the rattan furniture is not as per the picture, it’s a basic set which only seats 4 despite the lodge being able to sleep 7. A identical table and chairs were being used in the lodge opposite, I’m not sure if this was a coincidence. The bbq, despite being a Weber, was unusable due to the fact there was no handle on top of the bbq lid and inside was absolutely filthy and rusted in places due to the holes that the handle left. The oven wasn’t very good and we struggled to even cook oven chips properly. It only seemed to cook well on the right hand side of the cooker. The skirting boards were falling off in places, particularly next to the fridge where they were just resting against the wall. The main issue we had though was the blinds in the main bedroom. As per a previous review, they were completely broken which meant you couldn’t open the blinds nor close them properly. Unfortunately, the blinds flooded the room with light from 4am which woke our 1 year old. We had lovely weather during our stay but had to buy a fan as we couldn’t access the window in the bedroom and the room was really hot. The mattress in the bedroom was spring based and we found this really uncomfortable. The remaining blinds across the lodge were also a little broken too. Unfortunately we found there to be a lack of cutlery too. Some basics like salt and pepper would have been a good addition along with some hand soap. This along with the lack of children’s cutlery, for the price that we paid made us feel underwhelmed. Especially when we’ve been to other properties, paid less and got more for our money.

Cleaning products ie.anti bacterial spray and hand soap would be nice. Welcome pack was poor considering the price of the holiday.

  • "Greatly enjoyed our stay at the crab pot no."

    27. Very spacious, comfortable and well equipped but with definite feel that the owner is absent - a rather corporate experience! If of genuine interest, the aspects which were not quite 5/5 include: 1. The blinds don’t block the light streaming in from 5am so not the best sleep. The blind cords are rather frail and showing signs of wear and tear. I’ve had a similar experience with Blinds2go 2. The patio furniture is not as shown in the image being much lower quality and not at all comfortable. Hardly used during our visit. 3. The bbq top handle is missing so it’s unusable. 4. There are nettles growing in the grass all around the property so definitely no bare feet. 5. Water pressure in the shower is a trickle. I hope that’s helpful rather than cause for concern as the property is lovely and good value.

  • "Spectacular lodge."

We’ve stayed in quite a few different lodges and this was by far the best. Easy to self check in, clean and well presented throughout and everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Only very minor issue was the showers were very low pressure but other than that everything was great! Brilliant location and overall a stunning lodge that was a pleasure to stay in. Thanks very much!!

The decking is perfect for afternoon sun. The pubs within comfortable walking distance are both lovely. The beach is wonderful, dog walking, morning coffee, sand castle building and more. A few small things would make the accommodation perfect, hooks on the backs of doors, more storage in the main bedroom and mirrors. Overall lovely, thanks you!

Would recommend to anyone! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Few things in my opinion to think about Clothes rack so wet stuff can be dried and save electricity on tumble dryer! Mirrors on walls in bedrooms. Hooks on back of doors. More hangers. Shelves or drawers in wardrobe in children’s bedroom. A stick vacuum cleaner so guests could clean up! Maybe more cutlery to save using dishwasher as much! Looks a lot but honestly we loved the place and wish we had booked longer!

  • "Amazing lodge & we had the best weather ever."

It would have been nice to have leaflets of places to visit left in there. The shower water pressure is weak & both toilet seats require replacing. The lodge was well equipped (apart from a vacuum cleaner) and very comfortable. The south facing verandah was perfect for the hot weather we had all week. We visited many beautiful places and ate out every day. The Fox & Hounds & Ellerby inn being the best in our opinion.

Plenty of crockery, pans etc but would have appreciated more cutlery so we didn’t have to wash up between courses. Toaster only works on one side, perhaps it needs replacing.Curtains in lounge needed to be kept closed on a sunny day as the heat is unbearable otherwise, yes we had lovely weather, perhaps a fan could be available for guests. We would recommend especially to family’s with young children, our grandchildren loved the bunk beds with the port holes. Fantastic location.

  • "We were blown away with this property and felt the price offered value for money."

We had previously stayed on the site and loved it so much we returned. The first property was good but this was so much better. I was slightly concerned after reading reviews about the tv not working but we didn’t have any problems. We could access normal tv plus Netflix, Disney and others. We received a lovely welcome pack and the apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped with everything you would need. Each bed had two pillows and the towels provided were good quality. The bunk bed set up with the port holes was so magical for the children and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I’d recommend the hours walk to Staithes on the cliff top especially in a sunny day. Sadly the local pub was closed out of season during the week but we found a lovely welcoming pub with sn extensive menu a short drive (30 min walk) in Ellerby and when we couldn’t get a taxi, the owner even offered us a lift.We will definitely be back.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, we have taken on board previous feedback, to make this a lovely holiday lodge for all. The positive feedback is very much appreciated. Hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

  • "Same comments as everyone else!"

Sent an email to Skye's cottages 2? Weeks ago but still waiting on that reply. Amazing lodge but some easy to fix issues that really need doing especially at that price!!... Arrived as it had just got dark and maybe 2 of the 12 lodges are numbered. Had to walk around in the dark with a torch - got very rudely shouted at by the neighbour because his dogs barked at us (interesting point of view!). Kids pretty upset. Eventually decided just to try out one of the lodges and we got lucky. Please put a number on the lodge! It was an unpleasant start to the holiday. We helped out 3 other lost people that week... Really needs a gate. We had to use the BBQ and garden furniture to try to block the garden exit. Also really lucky that we'd packed a dark blanket for the master bedroom. I'd only return if those things are fixed.

  • "The lodge itself is amazing everything you could want and very comfortable for a family of 6 but what it let down is having 4 tv's but no one of them worked due to no WiFi so not good when you have 2 children."

It could be easy enough to get a freeview box and wifi for the cost you pay for a week. Also being dog friendly and not having gate on the balcony again something that the owners should have thought of as per all the other lodges. So sorry to say its a great lodge but would look for one with the above included.

The location is excellent for visiting a number of beaches in less than 20 minutes. The only two issues we had were the televisions which were fairly useless and luckily in the good weather were not really needed and a couple of blinds needed repair. To us they were minor issues and I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

? TV only worked in main room & not in bedroom, not a major issue but a nice to have if there is a group of you. No gate on the decking, which if its dog friendly I think it needs to be especially with the amount of dogs on the site? Shower not very powerful but still useable. These are minor points on what is a fantastic lodge and in a great location.

  • "The property is beautifully furnished, clean and comfortable, with all kitchen and patio amenities for a really relaxing and enjoyable stay."

A couple of small things detracted, which would ideally be addressed. The gate code to the holiday park is not provided with the entry and key collection details, which after a long journey is potentially a big problem, particularly if you were to arrive late in the evening. Luckily a resident spotted us and allowed us in. The blinds in the main ensuite bedroom don't close, so we had very light sleep despite otherwise very comfortable rooms. The tvs in the bedrooms don't work, which wasn't an issue for us as such but neither did the tv in the living room reliably- it seemed to work for short periods only before transmission broke up so there was no point in trying. I reported both the blinds and the tv issue to the owner but received no response. I didn't notice that WiFi is not available when I booked, but it's so uncommon now that I think the lack of WiFi should be made clear. All in all a beautiful property and an enjoyable stay but you had a sense of being left to your own devices once payment had been made.

  • "Clearly a brand new lodge and it looked like we were the first to stay."

Very comfortable, clean and modern. Comfortable beds and furniture was all in excellent condition. There are 4 things that we think the owner should consider to improve the holiday experience: 1. The main gate access code was not in the email but was in the welcome pack in the lodge. We were lucky that the gate was open from the car in front of us when we arrived. Put the code in the welcome email. 2. TVs in all rooms however only one was connected to the main aerial. A lot of expensive equipment that we could not use at all apart from the lounge TV. 3. In todays world a holiday described as family friendly needs to have Wi-Fi. Not only were we unable to use our own devices but we could not stream to the tv’s either. 4. For the lodge to be considered dog friendly a gate on the decking would help secure the area to prevent “escapes”.

About the location

STAITHES

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
