  • "This is a wonderful part of the world and Ellerby was a great place from which to explore it."

We (a 3-generational family celebrating a Special Birthday) found The Old Dairy to be just perfect for us. The kitchen is a great size for all to gather in during the day, likewise the lounge in the evening. It was extremely, clean, comfortable and full of everything one could wish for - great kitchen equipment, lovely books and toys for the children to use and the Welcome Hamper and flowers were much appreciated. It was obvious that great attention to detail had been paid to the property. The garden was also a bonus with beautiful far reaching views to the sea. As well as doing a couple of good walks, we also explored Runswick Bay, Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby. The Magpie Cafe in Whitby didn't accept dogs but Abbey Wharfe (on the other side of the river) did and the food was great. The neighbours were particularly friendly and we really enjoyed our visits to the Ellerby Inn where the food was great and we were made to feel very welcome. All in all we had a perfect week (even the weather was pretty good for February!). Thank you Sarah, Richard and family.

Thank you so much for your feedback and recommendations. We are delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay at The Old Dairy and visits to the local area. Property Owner

Location excellent with lovely other villages to visit just 10 minutes drive away or less. The staff in the Ellerby Hotel just a 1 minute walk away were also fantastic.

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and visit to the village and local area. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Happy New Year! Sarah Property Owner

  • "The cottage was absolutely lovely with everything you could possibly want / need."

We go to lots of self catering cottages and have never been to one where so much was provided. It was immaculately clean and the beds were all very comfortable and I would imagine that children would absolutely LOVE the room with all of the toys, books and the "special" steps - our youngest did and they're 22!!!!! The room is also great for adults too though - we were a group of 8 adults and there was plenty of room throughout the cottage for all of us. The living room is lovely but we spent most of our time sitting around the lovely big table in the kitchen. Sarah was really helpful and friendly when we had a couple of queries

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at The Old Dairy. Thank you for your feedback and recommendations, it is very much appreciated, Best wishes Sarah :) Property Owner

  • "Great accomodation in a lovely area and within an easy drive (or even walk) to some of the best spots on the North Yorkshire coast."

Only slight negative was that the cottage didn't have enough hand towels so those sharing a bathroom had to use the same one. Also no rubbish bins in some bedrooms. Had a problem with flush in one of the toilets which was reported & looked at but unable to be fixed before we left.

Thank you for your feedback and recommendations. Best wishes Sarah Property Owner

  • "Thanks for a wonderful stay, there were a few issues which although did not cause any major upset we feel they might help future guests have an even better time."

Bedroom (with toy cupboard and own bathroom) toilet did not flush well. Bedroom (largest) bulbs in bedside tables very bright (clinically so) which meant difficult to sleep if they were turned on. Would also be lovely to have shaving point in the bathroom. Could do with larger fridge did not really suit the size of kitchen. Things that were good - great setting, fantastic lounge, all good size bedrooms. Kitchen was a great social space. Dog friendly (my dog rated it 5/5). Thanks for the lovely welcome hamper. Would definitely book again!

A lovely welcome hamper nice surprise . Good parking . We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Dairy . Never been asked to strip beds before , and fold bedding up neatly before we have left a holiday accommodation !! , that was the only thing that was very odd when you have paid a good amount of money to stay for a few days.

Thank you for your feedback, we’re delighted you enjoyed your stay. We kindly ask guests to strip all used beds on departure. This helps our amazing cleaners who work very hard to get the property ready for the arrival of our new guests. Thank you for your support and understanding with this. Property Owner

We all enjoyed the Ellerby Inn, Black Bull and Badger & Hounds pubs. Badger & Hounds have superb chips! Recommend walking from Whitby to Sandsend and getting the bus back. Visted Ormsby, Saltburn by the Sea, Dalby Forest, Scarborough + Robin Hoods Bay. Great walk from Robin Hoods Bay to Boggle Hole! (Many Steps!) Magpie Cafe in Whitby a must for fish and chip fans. Get there early i.e. 1130 onwards for lunch! Had a great week!

  • "The Old Dairy was ideal for our stay."

Perfectly located with large bedrooms, plenty of space, and with a large kitchen/dining area for people to congregate. The property is well equipped and had a welcoming arrival pack. Just one thing to note, the ground floor en-suite bedroom is a little cramped and has a step to the bathroom, so may not be the best option for the mobility impaired. Overall we had a wonderful stay, and would not hesitate to recommend it.

  • "My Word..."

such a well appointed holiday home in a tranquil setting, we have enjoyed every single minute. Loved exploring around Runswick Bay, it hasn't changed much in 70 years (although we have!) Sansdend beach is fabulous and taking the hydraulic cliff lift down to the pier in Saltburn was certainly worth the journey. Boating on the river in Ruswarp and riding the toy train indelighted my 2 year old granddaughter Skye. We drove over the purple heather around the North York Moors to the Mallyan Spout Waterfall in Goathland, certainly worth the trectourous descent over large boulders to see the spectacular gushing waterfall. Being Food Conscious, the Home Stead Kitchen close to the Mallyan Spout was excellent (you need to book)as was a very small restaurant called No. 20 in a village house in port Mulgrave, both with talented chefs. Robin Hoods Bay remains the same and the Falling Foss Tea Garden at Midge Hall was a lovely discovery. A Happy Holiday At The Old Dairy Thank you

It was so quiet and peaceful and the garden at the bottom was lovely. It sits in a central spot between Saltburn and Whitby great to get around. We really enjoyed our stay and will be looking for next year to book again. The house was very spacious and clean. One thing I will say to improve is darken blinds are required on the bedrooms, the natural light is lovely however when you’re trying to sleep in after a long day this really doesn’t help. That is the only thing I would say needs to change here, other than that it was perfect.
