  • "Place smelt of dog sorry it changed to dog friendly."

Sadly I won't be booking again.

The lodge is dog friendly and this was stated on the advert when you booked. The lodge is thoroughly cleaned before each visit and recently had professional carpet and furnishing cleaners in. We do hope we can welcome you back another time. Property Owner

Very quiet site close to the beach and Whitby. Co op with 5 minutes if needed. Lovely little bakery on site entrance. Truly loved our stay and will book again. No issues at all with the lodge or site. One of the best holidays we have had in beautiful surroundings.

  • "High standard accommodation, very comfortable and cosy and very well equipped."

We had a little dog with us so the only thing I would suggest is to have a gate on the decking so the dogs can’t escape. We had a lovely relaxing holiday.

Many thanks for your positive feedback. We will take your comments on board. Hope we can welcome you back soon. Property Owner

  • "The accommodation was tucked away in a in a quiet area with pubs at a walking distance."

Nice food at the nearest pub to Willow Lodge even though we had to wait due to staff shortage but it was worth waiting for. Kitchen utensils were adequate but could do with proper kitchen knives as we self catered for half of our meals Nice gesture from the owners had goodies; snacks milk tea and coffee to start us off after such a long drive

  • "Very Clean and Comfortable."

Very peaceful, quiet and relaxing site only four lodges and a pod, lodge was clean and bed comfortable. We had good weather which helps. The addition close to the site of a new campsite may impact on noise. We enjoyed our weeks stay at Willow Lodge

  • "We had a lovely time and was great location so thank you!"

The only thing I would like to say for improvement was that there didn't seem to be any effort to recycle waste. I felt like I was being very bad for the planet by not recycling anything. Could this be improved to increase sustainability?

  • "Original booking was no pets but this was not the case."

Dogs allowed to wander around and being outside our lodge at 4.30am. Entrance to lodges very poor just a rough track. Noise from site expansion building work PAT testing out of date.

It was very clean, comfortable, private and the weather was kind to us. Lovely walk down to the beach, close to lots of good walks and beaches. We would definitely re-visit.

  • "Our second visit to Willow Lodge and the beautiful Runswick Bay."

Perfect destination for lots of walks and lovely beach. As per our previous visit, we found our accommodation to be exceptionally clean, and a relaxing, comfortable environment following a days walking. Will definitely return!

  • "The lodge is in an ldeal position."

The Pub is good and only a couple of minutes away. We would suggest the following for future guests. A milk jug, A sharp knife suitable for cutting vegetables,a saled bowl. There appears to be a leak on the radiator in the main bathroom. Idealy the large tree in front of the decking could do with trimming in order for people to sit and enjoy the evening sun!

About the location

Staithes 2 miles; Whitby 9 miles; Saltburn-by-the-Sea 10 miles.

The historic fishing village of Runswick Bay is without doubt one of the true gems of the Yorkshire Coast, if not the whole of the UK. This picturesque SE-facing village situated 9 miles from Whitby sits in a beautiful sheltered sandy-beached bay backed by spectacular cliffs and moorland scenery. Relatively un-commercialised and with vehicular traffic restricted, the village provides the perfect setting in which to relax and unwind. Relish in taking long walks on either the sandy beach or along the Cleveland Way on the clifftop above. There is much to do in the local area, whether it's visiting Whitby with its famous Abbey, Staithes with its pretty shops, cafes and superb art gallery, or touring the dramatic North York Moors. The lower village houses a local inn serving food along with a spectacularly situated cafe, whilst nearby Hinderwell provides 2 inns, a fish and chip shop, a local butchers and a garage/petrol station. A Co-op is situated at Staithes 2 miles away.
