  • "Another lovely stay at Cliff Top cottage, the position of the cottage is perfect in every way and the photos don’t do it justice at all."

We were very lucky with the weather (again) and enjoyed our morning cuppa sitting out looking over the beach views before taking the dog down for a run. The garden is beautiful, next time we visit I would bring a couple of deckchairs for sitting out here (there are fold away chairs provided though). We would definitely stay again!

  • "We had a lovely holiday the views were amazing, very unique quaint place The building work going on next door can’t be helped but can understand why the previous renter complained if they had building work going on every day."

Fortunately we only had it Saturday morning but it does sound like they are knocking loudly on the front door. It was a shame there was no internet as I have a teenage daughter and there was also no DVD player at the property as listed fortunately as you mentioned there was no internet luckily I did take a a Blu ray player and DVDs Also you should update the double bedroom photo as walls are now a nice white colour and not purple Thank you for your help when dealing with enquiries. I would stay there again

Thank you for your kind comments, the building work has finished next door now and we have switched the broadband to BT and its working perfect.Again thank you for your understanding and we would welcome you back anytime Property Owner

  • "The advertised Wifi was offline and had been for weeks, with the owner having no inclination to repair it (just blame TalkTalk)."

Building work taking place on the roof above bedrooms and our chimney throughout our stay which is still ongoing. Photographs have been sent to customer relations (Case number BX34E-21-EN) but all they appear to have done is given us a case number and sent the photographs to the owner, who like the Wifi hasn't got back to us in this regard.. As somebody on a working holiday (Landscape Photographer) who returned to the property everyday to work, and take a nap the property was totally unsuitable for our needs, which was not helped by the attitude of the owner. We are waiting to see if Sykes compensate us, for a totally ruined trip.

  • "Lovely little cottage, everything there to provide a great little holiday."

The only thing is the road leading to the cottage from the main road is nearly unpassable because of huge potholes, a four wheel drive vehicle or jeep is really needed to manoeuvre the road. We have a new VW golf and was scared the road would cause us damage, we had to crawl along it

  • "We had a wonderful weekend away at Cliff Top Cottage."

Luckily, the weather was on our side and we spent most of our time on the beach and mooching around Saltburn which is a lovely little resort. The cottage was absolutely spotless and really cosy, warm and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. The separate freezer was an added bonus as we would plan to come again for a week in the future The position of the cottage is superb, just 10 mins (if that) down the hill to the beach with a lovely old pub and a great coffee bar nearby. The garden for the cottage is gorgeous and well maintained with stunning panoramic views. We loved it and will be back! x

Lovely break with smashing weather for October, love the coast and will continue exploring new destinations with Sykes cottages.

  • "Cottage was in an ideal spot for any one interested in walking."

The track to access is as described, an unsurfaced farm track and the way down to the beach is steep steps or a rough path. Perfect for us with our dogs. We had great weather and explored the Cleveland way and surrounding areas, can recommend a visit to Roseberry Topping and Guisborough forest and woodland walks.

  • "An absolutely marvellous cottage."

Perfectly situated to have a whole holiday without needing to drive, as the cottage goes straight onto the coastal path and is within walking distance of the coastal town and beach. Incredibly stunning views out to sea. Cottage is well equipped and cosy. Facilities all work well. Lovely garden to sit and listen to beautiful birdsong or watch for newts in the pond.

  • "This row of cottages are fairly remote which we find is very nice, quiet and peaceful."

This is the third time we have stayed at this cottage but we were rather disappointed that there was still no WiFi connection. I suppose some people are not bothered by this but in this day and age many people would prefer it to be available. This is a shame because for this reason only it will prevent us from staying here again, which is a shame as it is a perfectly nice little cottage.

  • "We really had a great holiday at this brilliantly located cosy cottage."

The beds were very comfortable and the heating excellent . We hardly had to use our car due to everything being in easy reach. The walking straight from the cottage was superb and the garden was sheltered and perfect for a peaceful relax in the sun. The only thing we felt needed attention to improve our time at the cottage were the windows ( two of them could not be opened and the the lovely views were obscured by the glazing being wet inside the units ). Would love to return sometime

  • "The cottage is in a good location however it did feel a little unloved."

The door handle was wrapped up in tape, the furniture in the lounge is past it’s best and the blind in the master bedroom was simply a bit of cloth hung over a rod. You advertise the availability of the use of a summerhouse but to be honest the summer house didn’t look safe, for a start one of the glass panes is hanging out and the floor didn’t look safe enough to walk on. The garden is listed as being a wildlife garden which roughly translated means an overgrown mess. Disappointed with the cottage and we were glad we were only staying for 3 nights. This cottage definitely needs some time and money spending on it.

  • "Lovely, warm and inviting holiday cottage, very cosy with amazing views."

The drive down to the cottage is not for the faint hearted if you you don’t like single track remote driving but the reward are the views. The mattress in the smaller bedroom is quite lumpy/springy and needs replacing and the steep stairs are not suitable for anybody with a mobility issue. Other than that it’s a great, cosy and inviting cottage.

Although the weather was far from brilliant, we still found plenty to do. We intend to try and go back again next year and hope for a heat wave! A good place to take your dog as well, with good walks straight from the door step.

It was superb, top of a cliff with gorgeous views all round including of the sea. Up a lane and nice and secluded. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and a lovely private garden. Short (albeit steep) trek into town and the beach. Can't wait to go back and if you have a dog they'll think their in heaven.

  • "Clifftop Cottage is in a wonderful location."

It has direct access to the Cleveland Way over the cliff path. The views of the sunset (on the East coast!) over the Tees Estuary were magical. If you are reasonably fit, it is easy to holiday here without a car. public transport is good and there is no shortage of places to eat, but it is a hilly walk for provisions! I know the area well, but still didn't have time to cover all the places to I'd like to walk and visit. I will come again. The house was comfortable and homely and had everything required except a hairdryer and I'd like to have found milk in the fridge on arrival. The open fire and wood provided looked enticing and would have been very cosy, but due to good weather, we didn't get to try it! The cottage owner was very helpful regarding a temporary problem with the acces road.
