Sawdon has a pub, The Anvil, and nearby Brompton-in Sawdon is home to quaint tea rooms and small shops selling local produce.
The surrounding open countryside is a walkers paradise, with a good network of public footpaths and trails, whilst nearby the moors offer spectacular views and idyllic touring opportunities.
A twenty minute drive brings you into the heart of popular Scarborough, a wonderful traditional seaside town, with fine beaches, colourful ornamental gardens and wide array of restaurants and pubs, and culture lovers will savour a special treat to the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round.
There are many historic market towns in the vicinity of this cottage, including Pickering, with its steam railway and castle, as well as Malton and Helmsley.

The small village of Sawdon is situated on the edge of the stunning North York Moors National Park, close to both Scarborough and Pickering. Sawdon has a pub called The Anvil (open Wednesday to Sunday), which is well known in the area for its excellent meals, and walks can be enjoyed from the village. Close by is Brompton-by-Sawdon, which is a delightful country village on the edge of the Forge Valley, an area of outstanding countryside. This wonderfully scenic location, with its stone-built cottages and village butcher, is ideally placed for discovering the countryside, and the surrounding area is somewhat of a walker’s heaven. You may also wish to enjoy the nearby lake or visit the traditional tea rooms for some light refreshment!
