Further afield, the ever-popular seaside town of Whitby lives up to its name with a wealth of attractions, pubs, restaurants, cafes and historical sites to discover; spend a day at the beach with ice cream or fish and chips, wander the grounds of Whitby Abbey for the afternoon, or test yourself with the 199 Steps and be rewarded with yet more magnificent views.
