  • "Very enjoyable holiday."

The flat was very comfortable and had everything you could need. A good position on the north bay near the castle.

  • "A lovely flat for one or two, close to the North Bay and Castle and just a few minutes' walk from the town centre."

Attractive, comfortable and very well equipped.

  • "When I enquired about the possibility of taking our family dog with us I was informed that I should find alternative arrangements for her as the property was not listed for dogs."

I accepted this and we proceeded with our holiday. When we arrived at the accommodation they welcome was lovely with a card to greet us and a list of instructions. I also read the visitors book that stated quite clearly that other people had taken dogs! There was also a paragraph that read.. If you find your dog back from the beach is sandy there are towels in the kitchen to use!! I was gutted I had left my dog at home. Please make it clear and check with the owner as I wouldn't like other owners to feel as I did. The owner may even loose revenue if ppl don't go with their pets. We even left a day early as I wanted to go home to my dog.

  • "A wonderful well equipped little property that is clean and comfortable."

The host was very helpful and always on hand to answer any questions. Their are lots of steps to the property and parking at peak season we found a bit tricky. Easy access to the North Bay beach with shops and cafes. Great place to stay for a couple.

  • "Coastal retreat is a nice property which has a well stocked kitchen , with every utensil that you will need on your stay."

The location is ideal for both the north & south bays, however being on the second floor could be problematic for anyone with mobility issues. Parking no problem at all and dealings with the owner was a delight. Well done Jenny you have a well looked after and spotlessly clean apartment. Would recommend

Plenty of kitchen utensils, cleaning goods and a few essentials to get you started. Tea, coffee, sugar etc. available too. Parking permits provided and no issues with getting parked. Enjoyed my stay and would happily return.

  • "Coastal Retreat is a well equipped small contained apartment."

Everything you need plus more is available. Very comfortable and warm. The super sea views are an added bonus. We stayed with our little pooch and she loved it . Although the weather wasn't good didn't stop us enjoying the lovely walks and visiting numerous doggy friendly places knowing that there was a lovely warm place to return to. Jenny the owner was very good at communicating quickly . The possible only downside was that you can hear the person in flat above walking about and our pooch thought that someone was in our flat and had to reassure her otherwise . We enjoyed so much that we re booked for September whilst we were there. Sykes are a very good company too would recommend all the cottages we have stayed in so far.

  • "The whole weekend was great, the steep hill was a bit of a trek going up from the prom if you don't know Scarborough, but not enough to spoil the break, first time our little dog has been worn out but he loved it all as well."

Friendly people every where we went. It's definitely a repeat visit for us. Many thanks.

  • "Although the apartment was in a fabulous location with seaviews it was very compact!"

The kitchen has everything you could think of, however, the lounge needs more comfortable sofas and the bathroom needs rethinking as we found this to be very small! Overall though it was ok for few nights in our favourite resort of Scarborough

  • "The apartment was very clean and everthing we needed."

The steps is something I had not realised about. The keypad my friend couldn't use so when she went out on her own she buzzed the intercom and I went down all the steps and back again to let her in and didn't find out till almost last day that I could have let her in by the intercom told by one of the other occupants. I feel there should be some instructions as the side of the intercom not being familiar with this type of entry.

  • "Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to cut my stay short."

I contacted Sykes Cottages and spoke to someone on-line to ask them to let the owner know I had had to leave early and the person I communicated with was extremely efficient as well as the process being simple and quick. I hope to re-book next year all being well as the flat was perfect for me in all respects. Karan Lickers

  • "It was a very nice clean flat."

The outside of the building was a bit rundown but there were many properties in the area being renovated. The problem with accommodation was lack of storage space ie there were no wardrobes. Hangers were hung behind the doors which was fine for a few days, we stayed four nights, but any longer and we would have been very short of space.

As it’s up at the top of the cliffs, don’t be surprised if your car gets covered in seagull droppings,so wait till the holiday is over to get it washed. The flat was very clean and smelt clean too. Kitchen well stocked with cooking utensils ,cutlery etc,and decent sized mugs.
