  • "Very conveniently situated."

Comfortable, clean and well equipped. It was ideal for the two of us, however lounge may be a little cramped for four? Perhaps less chunky furniture would help.We had a great week.

  • "We've stayed at Manor Heath many times including when it was a hotel and have never been disappointed."

The Duplex didn't really come up to the standards we've come to expect. The rooms were small, especially the bedrooms so not as comfy as the apartments we've stayed in. Also a few niggly problems - missing curtain hooks in twin room, missing bath plug chain, missing hairdryer adaptor/ plug. One of the teatowels had holes in it. This might sound like nitpicking but we've got used to a very high standard. Hopefully we'll be able to book our favourite apartment 2 next time we come to Scarborough.

  • "We very much enjoyed our stay at the duplex."

Would definitely return for another stay. We had beautiful weather which made our holiday. It had everything we needed for a self catering holiday. Very nice bathrooms, good television. Very good position for getting to the beach and the park. Only negatives I can make are: Bedrooms were on the small side, extractor fans were not working in two of the bathrooms, sofas were uncomfortable and the duplex is situated at the back of the house virtually in the car park which can be a little noisy at times. However we loved our stay at the duplex and will return.

Flat clean and comfortable with everything we needed for a two week stay. Very professional management of the property and care taken to make the most of a compact apartment - two lovely bathrooms and a downstairs loo in a two bed flat!

Only minor issue is space in general and size of rooms.

Have been to this property twice before and each time found it to be superbly maintained and very very comfortable. Even in these difficult times we could not fault its cleanliness and any of the facilities provided. We will certainly consider this property for future holidays.

  • "Nice, clean apartment that had everything we needed."

Excellent location. The double bedroom was extremely small. And it wasn’t mentioned that the view was of the car park at the rear of the building.

  • "Excellent service from Sykes team and good email communication."

The apartment was in an excellent location near to a beautiful park and the lovely sandy beach. Very clean and modern accommodation. A bottle of wine and milk was very much appreciated after our long journey.Thank you for that kind gesture. We will definitely recommend this accommodation as a great place to stay and will be booking through Sykes again. An outstanding company.

  • "The picture on the Sykes web page shows the front of a handsome building and from this it was easy to assume that the Duplex was one of the apartments in the picture."

However, this was a gross misrepresentation of the actual location which turned out to be an extension built into the carpark at the rear. To conceal the true identity even further, Sykes failed to give the apartment number on their confirmation which gave directions and location of key safe. We had to use the code number on all 6 key safes to find which apartment was ours. It was only then that we found we had been duped by Skyes marketing literature and found the actual location. Cars for the other apartments are parked right up against the Duplex lounge window. Also, the rear entrance which provides access for residents and pets to the other 5 apartments in the building is next to the Duplex. As you would expect then the Duplex lacks any privacy and is very noisy at times. We had the blinds closed all the time. The lack of privacy is further compounded by the bedroom windows of the Miners Convalescent building next door where bedroom windows look directly into the Duplex master bedroom. As a result we decided to use the other bedroom. The bedrooms were too small for the furniture in them, for example the wardrobe door in the master bedroom could only be partially opened restricting access to clothing in it. As you might agree, we were not very pleased with the apartment when we arrived, nor at the way Sykes had misrepresented the true nature the Duplex in their sales material, so rang them immediately to request alternative accommodation. The response was completely negative and we were told "we did not say the apartment had a view"! But then Sykes didn't say it was located in the car park either. Trading Standards might be interested in this one. Given the location, lack of privacy and cramped accommodation upstairs the apartment is grossly overpriced. I would not recommend the Duplex at anyone, and as this is the second holiday apartment we book through Sykes this year were they were unable to resolve problems, I would not recommend Sykes to anyone either.

  • "My partner and I had a lovely stay at The Duplex with our dog."

We've stayed in both Apartment 3 and The Penthouse in the past and all have been great. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and had everything that we needed. The welcome bottle of wine and milk was a nice touch. The apartment is ideally situated for Scarboroughs North Bay and South Bay attractions. Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Filey are all within easy reach and worth a visit. There are some lovely views at Flamborough cliffs. Only negatives, two light bulbs didn't work and we were only provided with 3 dishwasher tablets for a weeks stay. We would stay at the Manor Heath again and would recommend to others.

  • "Property is new, well equipped and well situated on the edge of Peasholm Park which is endless fun."

Within walking distance of some excellent restaurants which we enjoyed. We found the bedrooms to be cramped which wasn't a problem for us since there were only two of us but I think 4 adults and a dog would be getting on top of each other. The bathrooms are fine and the downstairs works quite well though. We did find other people's dogs to be rather a nuisance though, since they exit the other 5 apartments right outside the front door of this property and start their walks by having a good old bark. That happens about a dozen times a day and it adversely affects peace and privacy. Overall though, we had a great holiday despite the weather which was poor during our stay. Don't miss the nearby Pitch & Putt in the park, excellent.
