  • "It was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay."

  • "A clean and well maintained property ideal for a mixed family gathering."

The large lounge comfortably sat twelve people, as did the large dining table. The kitchen was generally well equipped with plenty of crockery, glasses cutlery etc. We were missing a fish slice and the tin opener was impossible to use. It would also have been useful to have some spare bin liners.

  • "We have just returned from our second stay at The Shop, 3 families with children from 3 - 10 years old."

We all had a great time in this well equipped house which is in a great spot to explore Scarborough by foot. We went to Tikka Tikka just down the road on new years day for a meal and the food and service were great so would recommend a trip there too.

  • "There were 3 families with children ranging from 1 to 8."

We all had a fabulous time. The house is within walking distance of all of Scarborough's attractions so no need to drive once you are there. The house itself was great, so much room for everyone and well equip for all our needs including baby gates, cots and high chairs. There was a slight bit of damage when we arrived that we notified the owner about and there were straight round to sort it. Would highly recommend.

Perfect for a large group with great showers, comfy beds and a good location for the town and the beach. Would definitely recommend it.

  • "The property itself was lovely but the location of this property was not as expected."

In a very rough area of Scarborough - busy street with takeaways/taxi rank/Public houses which were never quiet. Not the relaxing holiday we expected.

  • "Splendid accommodation."

Received clan and tidy. There are no shelves in the bathrooms for items such as toothbrush, shaving gear etc There should be a towel rail in the toilet washing areas. Only one tea towel was provided; inadequate for a large group who do not always need to use the dishwasher. A soft sweeping brush would have helped in tidying up prior to departure.

  • "The Shop was a very well fitted out house, all new and clean and well decorated."

The owners had gone to a lot of trouble to put in decent equipment in the kitchen and other rooms including televisions- v important when raining and a mixed age party! There are plenty of places for groups to gather to socialise- in the down stairs kitchen area and the upstairs lounge. The bathrooms are enough for the house and well fitted out. The beds were comfy and the house is very warm. The location is pretty central and you can walk in to Scarborough in about 15 minutes or drive to Whitby, Filey etc. We had a comfortable stay and an enjoyable holiday. There are a couple of drawbacks: Parking is on the street but is all disc zone parking and you have to have cards from the council to display - we struggled because we did not have enough cards for the cars as we were a large party of adults and lots of cars. This should be made clear in the description on booking - it just says street parking, but this is limited. The WiFi is shared with the next door house and is insufficient. If you can get on it is intermittent and the signal strength is poor and keeps dropping out. Some days we couldn’t get on at all and a few of us had work to do which we couldn’t access. This is a big drawback nowadays and needs fixing. When we arrived the owner was unhelpful and unwelcoming over picking up the key when first contacted, it took several phone calls for her to give us instructions and get us in, not what you want after a long journey in heavy traffic with an 11 week old baby. We had a nice holiday , the owners have gone to a lot of trouble to create a comfortable, well equipped holiday house. The Shop is a great holiday house for a large mixed party.
