“We were generally happy with the accommodation but felt it was just in need of a bit of TLC.”
Some attention to relatively minor aspects over the winter months could transform this cottage. It would benefit from a simple coat of paint throughout. New blinds to the kitchen window and main door would help with a good clean of the windows inside and out. Some attention to relatively minor aspects over the winter months could transform this cottage. It would benefit from a simple coat of paint throughout. New blinds to the kitchen window and main door would help with a good clean of the windows inside and out. There was only an old yard brush and small dust pan for cleaning so a better provision would be useful eg a vacuum cleaner and small dust pan and brush, especially for cleaning the open fire area, a feature which is very welcome and adds to the rustic charm of the cottage. That's the criticism now for its good points! There was a constant supply of very hot water and the central heating system is very effective in keeping the cottage warm and cosy. This cottage is not high gloss with ultra-modern facilities! If that's what people are looking for then book a Premier Inn! This cottage is not 'Premier Inn' neither should it aspire to be so - it is an old Yorkshire farm house with all the characteristics you would expect. It is in a very quiet location within easy access of coastal resorts, coastal walks and the Moors. A previous occupier mentioned that the wooden stairs were not dog-friendly. Whilst we respect the views of others, we did not find this a problem in the least as, out of courtesy to the owner and future occupiers, our dog slept quite happily on her bed downstairs!
To summarise, this is a cottage with plenty of potential and attention to the relatively minor criticisms we have made should ensure its attractiveness into the next season.
