• "We loved the cottage."

  It was warm, comfortable, practical, homely and was kitted out with just about every thing that you're ever likely to need. We enjoyed the stunning rural views gazing out across the farm and sprawling lands - ideal too for walking our two borders. And Debra the owner was friendly, helpful, chatty and very approachable. All in all probably the best-value cottage we've ever stayed at - and we've stayed at well over a dozen from Cornwall to Inverness!

• "We had a great week at The Granary."

  The property is clean, warm and comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The setting is perfect on a lovely busy working farm surrounded by gorgeous scenery and fabulous walks for the dogs and close to the beach and seaside amenities. The hosts are very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. I will definitely return sometime soon.

• "The cottage was perfect."

  Just the right location for us. Close to amenities but still nice and quiet. Very well equipped cottage. Beds very comfortable.The owners were welcoming. When we had a problem it was dealt with very quickly. We are definitely going to stay again. The welcome pack was also a lovely touch.

• "An absolute gem of a cottage."

  Mark and Debra (hosts) are lovely and welcoming. Cottage is warm, cosy and peaceful. It's fully equipped with everything you need for your stay including a welcome basket with biscuits, doggy treats and chocolate for the children, also milk for a cuppa. Visited twice and will definately return next year.

• "We had a great stay with our two dogs, the walking around the cottage is fantastic and you can go for miles, the dogs loved it."

  We we only 1.5 miles from the local pub ye old forge valley inn which is dog friendly and did a good meal. We also had a good day out at Scarborough. We only went for a long weekend but would definitely go back for longer next time. The owners are fantastic and even leant us some towels to dry our dogs off after they’d been swimming in the pond. I would highly recommend

• "The hot water was boiling a child could get burnt, I did report this to the owners."

  apart from that there was everything you need for a stay from washing and drying. a night in with a bottle even a board game tv with DVD player and a walk around a very clean farm with great views

• "The Granary is an excellent holiday experience on a beautiful , well kept working farm ."

  The cottage had everything we could possibly need , was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable . Debra, Mark , their children and family were friendly , helpful and lovely company ( but never intrusive ) . Trips out were great with villages , beaches and forest all an easy drive . We honestly cannot recommend the Granary highly enough ( although the temptation was to keep it a secret ) and have already rebooked for next year .

• "The granary was perfect in every way, very clean and so comfortable the best I’ve been to by far, we received a small hamper and doggy treats which was a lovely touch."

  We were welcomed by Debra and Mark who are so lovely and also Debra’s parents. The farm is beautiful I didn’t want to leave. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday or a seaside visit as you’re not far from Scarborough.

  The cottage is like home from home with everything you will need for your stay. can not fault anything .A dog walkers paradise with the Forge valley on your doorstep,2 very tired dogs by the end of the week. • "The Granary is an amazing property in a beautiful secluded area just outside Scarborough, a working farm with beautiful countryside views."

  The property had everything you could wish for, and was fully equipped with everything needed to be a home from home. The owners Deborah, Mark & Family were so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you to make your stay extra special. The welcome pack of milk, eggs, biscuits and dog treats were very much appreciated, especially by our dog who settled into farm life so well. An absolute gem of a place to stay, we will definitely return.

• "We had a totally relaxing stay, really cosy, comfortable accommodation with everything you could possibly need."

  Super comfy beds, great bathroom with a choice of walk in shower or bath. First time we’ve stayed on a farm and enjoyed it very much, the owners were extremely welcoming and warm and provided a lovely welcome pack. Perfect base for exploring the coastal towns and villages, we’d definitely stay here again, couldn’t fault it.

• "Lovely cottage."

  We have just spent Oct half term there as a family of Four. Great location, very peaceful but only a short drive away to Scarborough, and other coastal attractions for activities to do during the day . The kids loved seeing the cows each morning, and the owners Debra and Mark couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. The cottage was so cosy, with very comfortable beds and the most amazing power shower!! The cottage was so well stocked, it had everything you could possibly need. We will definitely be returning in the future. X

  Away from all the traffic. We were made very welcome by Debra and Mark. The gift of milk, eggs, dog treats and biscuits were lovely. The place was well located for getting out and about just about everywhere. If it is peace and quite you are looking for this is the place for you. • "Just had a lovely weeks stay at the granary cottage and it surpassed our expectations."

  Debra and Mark and the whole family were very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area, advising us on the best walks and places to visit. It was ideal for walks with our 2 dogs Flora and Skye from just outside the front door, and they had a fantastic time too! Was lovely to see the baby calves in the field directly across from the cottage. No need to drive anywhere if you didn't want to. The welcome basket and flowers were a lovely touch....Flora and Skye loved the dog treats!! Every finishing touch thought of. A very enjoyable and relaxing stay....and we will be back next year. • "Wow, what a wonderful place this is."

  Absolutely everything you need in a holiday cottage. Lots of things we didn’t expect, fresh eggs and milk, local biscuits were waiting for us when we arrived and a lovely vase of flowers. A truly idyllic location on a working farm, would be a lovely place for a family with children. So nice to wake in the morning to just the sounds of the countryside with no traffic. Lots of lovely places to visit nearby with places to eat and of course Scarborough if you want the beach and more entertainment. Marc and Debra the owners are always around with advice on where to go. It also truly dog friendly. We can’t recommend this place highly enough.

• "We had a wet, cold and windy week in North York's so it was great to return to a warm, cosy cottage after our outings."

  The Granary is a wonderful base from which to explore the area and we can't praise the cottage and the locality enough. The owner made us feel very welcome on our arrival and it was lovely to see the cottage decorated for Christmas. The cottage is relaxing, well equipped, the beds are comfy and it felt truly dog friendly as our two collies settled down straight away. Would definitely book The Granary again but maybe at a more hospitable time of year.

  Excellent location, peace and quiet, lovely views and lots of good dog walks from your door. Friendly and helpful host and farm staff. Handy for Bridlington, Scarborough, Whitby and Flamborough Head. Warm and cosy cottage with everything provided that you could possibly need. Great chippy locally, didn't try any of the local pubs so can't comment. Highlights were Whitby Goth weekend, the seals at Flamborough Head-at least 50 hauled up on the beach and a visit to the Stained Glass Centre. We are planning our return same time next year. Thank you for a faultless break.

  The welcome pack for humans and dog was great! There were more and better facilities than are mentioned on the Sykes website, particularly the washing machine and tumble dryer, the downstairs toilet, the extremely well stocked kitchen, and the fact that you can step out of the farmyard and into the forge valley nature reserve!

  Very spacious for a two bedroom property. Some good walks along the Forge Valley accessed from the farm. Ye Olde Valley Forge Inn does a really nice Sunday roast including a gluten free version, good value too. Overall, a nice place to stay within easy reach of some lovely towns and beaches.

• "We have just returned from our Easter weekend stay at Granary Cottage."

  We had a very friendly welcome from both Debra & Mark. A welcome basket of Chocolate Eggs, Biscuits and an Easter card with a handwritten message awaited us, there was a pint of milk in the fridge and a vase of daffodils on the coffee table. The cottage is tastefully and comfortably furnished in keeping with its character. It was very clean and there was everything there that we needed. Mark happily helped out with some WD40 when we had a slight issue with the lock and quickly came to our rescue when ‘someone’ accIdentally switched off the hot water instead of the heating on the control box. We had hot water again in minutes. ‘Someone’ also managed to leave their phone charger and Debra sent us a text to let us know and had offered to send it on to us. The cottage is so peaceful despite being on a working farm and there was no movement of tractors and other farm vehicles before 8am. The location was ideal for us as we were visiting elderly parents in nearby Scarborough and it gave us a restful comfortable break away from the Easter Holiday crowds. The villages of West & East Ayton are just 1.5 miles down the road with a Spar supermarket, couple of pubs serving food , petrol station, and a lovely Fish Restaurant. From Ayton you can easily access Scarborough and the other coastal towns of Filey, Bridlington & Whitby in one direction and Pickering , Mallon, York , Helmsley in the other direction. The cottage is an ideal base for walkers or cyclists , there are the ruins of Ayton Castle and the very pretty Forge Valley Woods Natural Nature Reserve which takes you along a quieter route into Scarborough. We can highly recommend Granary Cottage and will certainly return.

• "This is probably the best holiday home we have ever stayed in."

  it was delight to drive the long tree lined driveway to the cottage. Set in the farm, this cottage has the comfort and views of the stunning North Yorkshire dales. The owners made us welcome and we were left alone in the peace and tranquil surrounding to enjoy our week there. The cottage was very comfortable, with all the facilities you would need, its a real home from home and our dog Poppy, loved it too. Highly recommend this cottage for a real relaxing holiday, with plenty of places to visit with in a short drive. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you.

  The location is fabulous, a real home from home and perfectly situated to explore the area. Our fur babies loved the freedom. We enjoyed it so much we have rebooked for October.
