“Cottage was a lovely escape although I knew no Wi-fi was surprised by no 4g or phone signal atall whilst away.”

.. nice escape for me but not met with delight from children!

.. nice escape for me but not met with delight from children! Everything needed was in cottage including washing up liq, condiments, games, tissue, tea towels... open fire and location was all that was required for my new year escape

The cottage

An attractive, terraced cottage overlooking the village green in the quiet coastal village of Skipsea.

Traditionally furnished and decorated, this small Skipsea cottage provides an excellent base for small families wishing to explore the east coast of Yorkshire and the popular seaside towns of nearby Hornsea and Bridlington.

Homely, cosy and comfortable, this Skipsea cottage offers a compact modern kitchen with dining area, and a sitting room with a warming open fire, perfect for a cosy night in after a busy day exploring this diverse area.

Cottage stairs in this Skipsea cottage lead up to the two pretty bedrooms, one with a pleasant outlook over distant fields.

To the rear of this Skipsea cottage is an enclosed garden with a sunny courtyard and lawns beyond - a lovely spot for alfresco dining, and for the dog or children to play safely in the evening sun.

Both the local shop and pub are a couple of minutes’ walk away, whilst a ten-minute drive brings you to the long, sandy beach, great for fun-filled days with the family, or a romantic stroll hand-in-hand as the sun sets.

The surrounding area is ideal for cyclists and walkers, with numerous nearby footpaths, whilst Hornsea and Bridlington are a short drive away.

There are many attractions in the area, including the RSPB reserve at Bempton, a must for summer visitors for its puffins and gannets, Hornsea Mere watersports and stately homes such as Sledmere House and Burton Constable Hall.

A well placed Skipsea cottage for an enjoyable holiday.

About the location

Hornsea 6 miles; Bridlington 9 miles; Driffield 11 miles; Beverley 15 miles.

The village of Skipsea is situated in the Yorkshire Wolds, in a typically rural setting surrounded by rich, agricultural land, yet Skipsea also sits within one mile of the beach and is close to the cliffs of the North Sea. The village has its own Post Office and general store, a hairdresser’s and a pub. Many of the houses in the village, both old and new, use cobbles from the sea shore in the building. Just outside the village are the remains of Skipsea Castle. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking and cycling, whilst the nearby seaside towns of Bridlington and Filey boast long sandy beaches and numerous resort attractions. The Deep Submarium at Hull, Sledmere House and Burton Constable Hall are within 20 miles, whilst the shops, cathedral and museum of historic York, the resort town of Scarborough and the North Yorks Moors Steam Railway at Pickering are within an hour’s drive, and Whitby is just a little further, making Skipsea a superb base for a relaxing holiday.

Note: cottage is better suited to 2 adults and 2 children.
