    Had a great week here! Started on arrival what a lovely couple could not be more welcoming and helpful on arrival helping with bags etc. and showing the lay out and facilities. Cream Tea all ready on a tray for as a welcome a really nice touch. Cottage well appointed everything you likely to need provided. Clean Tidy well decorated and in perfect setting right in the heart of the valley surrounded by trees hills and farmland all you can hear is the stream and birds! Loved it great base to explore the area! Drive down to cottage great fun as long as your not a nervous driver narrow windy steep and a couple of fords to cross.

Just two miles away is the popular village of Sleights, which offers an excellent butcher's, local bakery, a pub and village shop and Post Office.

Close to the North York Moors, and ideally situated for visiting the ancient fishing town of Whitby, this Sleights cottage is also within easy reach of coastal villages such as Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, the steam railway at Grosmont and much more.

Sleights is ideal for both a coastal and country holiday. Just 4 miles from the picturesque Yorkshire coastline, it is also on the edge of the dramatic North Yorkshire moors country, littered with attractive villages and scenery, which is very popular with walkers and cyclists. Though quiet, Sleights boasts a pub, a fish and chip shop, an antique shop (with cafe), a butcher's, a bakery, a hairdressers, a cafe and a Post Office within a Spar shop. The North Yorkshire Steam Railway terminus is a few minutes’ drive, together with regular public transport to and from the nearby port of Whitby. Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire. It is an atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and, of course, the abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.
