  • "Just returned from a lovely stay at Upstairs Downstairs Cottage."

Everything was pretty perfect, very clean cosy warm and welcoming. Ideally situated for the moors and the coast. Great to have the paddock for our little dog. A lot of thought has gone into this beautiful cottage which makes for a comfortable stay. Thank you Dan we loved it and we will definitely be back.

Hi Tracy. Just a say noticed your great review of Snainton and the surrounding area. It’s always so nice to hear people have enjoyed their break away here and makes me feel so grateful to have such nice people come to stay and filled with pride that the work it takes to manage and run the holiday cottages is appreciated. Thank you for being such great guests. You’re welcome to come back anytime. From Dan and the 3 troublemakers Property Owner

A quiet location but ideal for getting out and about. It was impeccably clean and of a high standard both inside and outside. The owner was available and very helpful but as we had everything we needed, there was no need to contact him.

Hi Allison, so sorry I didn’t actually get to meet you all. Had a crazy old weekend and not a moment to spare. I’m really glad you all enjoyed your stay and I wanted to thank you for stripping the beds leaving the towels in the bath etc. I really appreciate that little bit of help from guests because it just makes it a little easier when I’m cleaning them ready for the next guests. Hopefully you might come again sometime and I might actually get to meet you. All the best and thank you again. Dan Property Owner

You were a lovely family. I also want to say a massive thank you for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy too. Dan is a thoughtful host and we fet at home from the moment we arrived. A great base from which to see the area. We are already planning our next visit. Thank you for a wonderful week.

It was lovely to have you come to stay in Snainton. Just sorry that I didn’t see much more of you (due to me and my wretched back). I really do hope that you come back for another visit next year during the summer when the sun is shining. Hopefully the young man might have shot up a few inches and he might be big enough for a ride around on the bike. He might even enjoy a trip to watch the motorbike racing at Oliver’s Mount which happens 4 times a year? That’s a good full day’s entertainment for a fairly reasonable price. Hope you all made it home safely. It was really good to meet you all. Take care and hopefully I’ll see you again (and perhaps the grandparents too) next year. The cottage was up there with the best, Every thing you need for a supper holiday. The little extras on arrival were vary much appreciated, ( and Dan the Bottle of red was great the girls only drink white guess who had the whole bottle) Amenities were spot on, good off road parking, out door laundry facility’s and a large paddock for Louie to chase his ball. Dan the owner, top man very pleasant, helpful and nothing was to much trouble. His knowledge of the area and where to eat was so helpful, Thanks Dan. I must mention the village of Snainton, great chippy less than a minute away from the cottage. The pheasant public house 300yrds approx up the road was 1st class reasonable and made us feel like locals, that included Louie, with his treat and bowl of water, and finally we found the village a very friendly place. Once again Dan thanks for making our holiday GREAT. Trev.Liz,Linda and Louie the Cockerpoo.

Add in a cooker hood canopy with glass hood perfectly at eye level, whilst cooking or preparing food I constantly banged my head or my eye! Then saucepans struggled to cook 2 veg and potatoes on a Sunday lunch. I cannot believe how clean it is! It's just great, so comfortable Dan has thought of everything. We loved it, the location was excellent, within striking distance of most everything - coast, forest, scenic drives, views, really good fish & chips (next door), local Shop (all of two minutes walk) which was excellent e.g. my favourite wine at £3 less than a supermarket I use at home. On our first day they actually put some out the back for me. And such friendly people both there and in the village. Bus stop about 1 minute away either direction and if you are lucky you will pick up en-route some fresh produce, raspberries, green beans and blackcurrants being sold outside a house but be quick, they go fast! The cottage backs onto paddocks and we were very lucky to attend the Stables open event on Sunday, great fun, and we enjoyed seeing the foal each morning. Lovely garden facility and again Dan has thoughtfully provided rustic tables and chairs for guests. Neither of us are particularly cat lovers but the two resident cats had me eating out of their paws, hello Spikey and Norman. And as for Dan, well he's one of life's characters! Thanks Dan - your cottage is lovely!

Not an ideal cottage for families with small children as stairs are quite steep and open to falls. Good for older ones but very low walls / extracted fan on oven - hit my head countless number of times. Gorgeous garden to rear of property though you need to keep checking for dog poo - had a few accidents in children’s footwear. Also falling piece of wood from Window which narrowly missed my daughters head. Apart from these few issues it was nice and comfy.
