Love this cosy little cottage. Perfect for a holiday for all. Walks, cafes, restaurants, pubs, nearby. Lots of walking areas and lots of areas for the four legged friend too. Thank you to Emma and Darren for your hospitality again. This little cottage is clean and tidy, its perfect. I even used the log burner which made it extremely cosy. Thank you again.

  • "We loved our stay at Horseshoe cottage."

It was in a perfect location for exploring the beautiful countryside around it with our dog and South Cave had some great pubs, cafés and little shops to enjoy. It is in easy reach of York and Hull where there is plenty to do and see including shows and a Park Run in the country park under the Humber Bridge. The cottage itself was immaculate with very tasteful interior decor, cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub which was clean and always warm and only a hop skip and jump from the back door so no need to get cold! There was a very generous welcome pack with cake, wine, milk etc and tea/coffee plus biscuits for our dog! Emma checked in via text to make sure everything was ok which was a lovely touch. We with thoroughly recommend a stay at Horseshoe cottage to anyone thinking of booking.

  • "We loved this place, it’s small and cosy yet has all the mod cons like Hive heating, wi-fi, decent electric shower, smart TV’s and a hot tub with a roof!"

The beds were comfy, the house is well presented and well stocked. The oven/ cooker is top notch too making meal times easy. There is a well stocked shop ‘Budgens’ within a 2 minute walk, a cafe in 30 seconds walk and three pubs within 20mins walk. There is a good Chinese and pizza takeaway with a Londis nearby too. Hull is about 25mins away whilst York/ Leeds in about an hour drive. We found it a tad noisy in the mornings with the master bedroom being on the front and the toilet kept getting blocked (which is also downstairs at the back of the house - frustrating for those midnight pee runs). The fridge is fine but the freezer is a tiny compartment at the top of the fridge limiting frozen foods. A lot of the tourist leaflets were 2022 or older and the suggested walk on laminated paper is taken from a map in 2008 so is no longer accurate with road names and access routes due to renovation in the area but this is such a minor grievance… The owners left us a nice welcome gift including some milk and tea/coffee for when we arrived. Briefly spoke to the owner Darren before departing on the final day who seemed pleasant enough! Overall we would def recommend and look to revisit in the future! :-)

Thankyou so much for your lovely review. It's good to see not only guests comment on the property but on the local area itself. We are very fortunate to live in an area with so much to do along with excellent restaurants/tearooms (all dog friendly) we have noted your few negative comments and pleased to say all has been rectified. Thankyou for booking our much loved cottage. Property Owner

It is so cozy and comfortable that it was a challenge to leave it at all during the day. The cottage is spotless and everything you might need is provided for. The hottub was a very welcome sight at the end of the day of exploration and the wooden pergola meant it could be enjoyed no matter what the weather had in store for you. The temperature was perfect and we had full use until the end of our stay. Our host Emma made sure everything was to our liking and the welcome gifts were much appreciated. South Cave is a beautiful, friendly little village with everything you might need, but if you fancy a little expedition further afield do try to visit Beverley, a bustling market town with an array of independent shops. We couldn't fault our stay and we would highly recommend Horseshoe Cottage. Would we be back??? Absolutely!!! Thank you for making our holiday memorable for all the right reasons. • "The cottage is located in a lovely village with friendly people and a couple of dog friendly pubs."

Booked this property particularly for the hot tub. On arrival noted in the 'welcome pack' that the owners want to restrict use of the hot tub on the last evening for maintenance this isn't mentioned in the listing. While they offer the option to contact them they have left no contact details. Had to take time out of our break to contact Sykes to arrange use for full duration which is only reasonable given premium price of stay. On 2nd day while we were away from property someone raised the temperature of the tub making it uncomfortable to use. And on the last night the tub shut down at the specified time even though we requested use for the full time. Having complained about this and owners refused to acknowledge that we have not received use of facilities we paid for I would not recommend staying at this property if you wish to use the full facilities for duration of your stay. The restriction on use and the fact that owners would enter to change hot tub settings during stay should be clearly listed as had this been the case would not have booked in first place.

Firstly, thank you for choosing to stay at Horseshoe Cottage and for your kind words about our village. However I’m afraid I take umbrage with your comments as well as your decision to to denounce the cottage to future guests and I must refute some of your claims. On the second night of your stay, we received a call from Sykes regarding your request to use the hot tub for the full duration of your stay. This is a request we are happy to grant to our guests and there was no reason to do otherwise on this occasion. I’m very sorry that you were unable to contact me directly, ordinarily my contact number would have been given to you upon booking. When I asked Sykes why you did not have my number, they told me that it had not been sent you due to a clerical error. My first instinct was to call you to confirm that we would not turn off the hot tub on the last evening and to ask if you had any other requests, however, as per your request for strict privacy, I thought it prudent not to interrupt you. I can say with certainty that no one other than yourselves entered the property during your stay. There is no reason the temperature could have gone upon the hot tub whilst you were away, all I can suggest is that you were mistaken by the relative drop in air temperature between day and night, and the constant temperature of the water in the hot tub. This would not explain, however, the hot tub supposedly being turned off on the final night of your stay and it being piping hot the next morning when the cleaner checked it following your departure. • "An amazing visit!"

The cottage was a home away from home. Upon arrival I was expecting it to be good - but not that good (I’m not complaining though). From the moment we stepped in we were greeted by some lovely cookies and cake, milk in the fridge (just what we needed after the drive there) everything they could do to make us feel welcome was done. There were even doggy treats for Molly! The area is very friendly and the cafe just a few doors down made us feel welcome and told us about the area (it’s also dog friendly). We had trips to Scarborough, Hull, Hornsea and spent our final day in South Cave. The hot tub was fantastic too and my son made great use of it every day. I’ve already recommended this cottage to family and friends and we will be visiting again in the future. Thank you it’s just what we needed to unwind.

So pleased you all had a wonderful holiday, we thought very hard when renovating Horse shoe Cottage, the hot tub just added that final touch, since you've been we have added a lovely gazebo over the hot tub.
