Great dog proof garden with lovely views. Well equipped, clean and comfortable home from home. Please be more generous with towels. One per person for a week isn’t enough. Please also provide a non slip shower mat. I had to buy one to help my elderly mum shower safely. Thank you

  • "The house was very spacious and accommodated 2 families of four very well."

The beds were comfortable and the house was very clean on arrival. It was a really nice touch to have a few basics on arrival. There is ample car parking and the view from the garden and the living room window is stunning. The house is in a very quiet street with a Tesco just a 15 minute walk up the road. We all have an enjoyable holiday in this house. Would definitely recommend it.

  • "This really is a wonderful bungalow."

Our stay was for a family get together. The property has a wonderful homely feel and the views from the lounge and kitchen are just stunning. We were very lucky to experience some beautiful sunsets. The standard of the accommodation is very high throughout. Beds are very comfy and the linen/towels are of an excellent quality. The area is very quiet and lots of amenities within a 15-20 minute walk. It was great to have the added bonus of safe parking for at least 3 cars. The enclosed garden was enjoyed by our family dog. On returning home we discovered that we had unfortunately left behind a small item. The property owner went over and above to help us with this for which I would like to express our upmost thanks and gratitude. We would highly recommend this property and will definitely be considering staying again.

Thank you. Your kind words are very much appreciated. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic. Absolutely stunning views, took our breath away."

The photos really don’t do it justice. Everything is within a few minutes drive. The property itself was spacious, clean and well equipped. If I have any criticisms it’s the downstairs shower room, the shower tends to spill out of the walk-in and flood the floor. Every one of us had problems with it. And, minor point, the toilet seat is cheap, flimsy and not fixed securely, spoiling the ship for a ha’porth o’tar springs to mind. It is only a minor thing though. Otherwise the standard is very high throughout. I’d recommend it to anyone. I’ll never forget those stunning views and the sunsets.

Thanks for your feedback. I will change the toilet seat and adjust the shower. Property Owner

A few cleanliness issues - cobwebs on light fitting, Dusty areas on bedroom floor Recliner sofas not plugged in and leads removed Cords on the Blinds in study very frayed but these were reported to owner

Thank you for your feedback. We do not supply a hairdryer so you need your own adapter...you must have left it at home. I removed the recliner sofa electrics because I don't want children jumping on them and breaking them. The Roman blinds were perfectly ok at the start of the week. Property Owner

  • "A few more cobwebs than last time."

There was lots of flies again - maybe a zapper in the kitchen would be helpful. Downstairs bathroom sink - the plug either stays in and is really hard to get out or it won't go in at all - it was the same in March. Other than that the cottage was lovely and the views and garden are amazing. We personally would like a reclining chair or a higher chair in the living room. The chairs are all a bit low and squishy for disabled hubby. Could do with some blackout blinds in the twin room - very bright in a morning. The layout is great and perfect for us. The Granddaughter loved the garden as did elderly parents. Good stay-ideal location with nothing more than a half hour walk away. It is a home from home and we will miss that amazing view when you open the curtains in the morning. As the saying goes we will be back!

  • "A really beautiful cottage and the large, contained garden with the view of the mere really made it really special."

There was a very thoughtful welcome pack and I was impressed by the Egyptian cotton towels, just like we use at home but we'd taken our own with us as most places don't have the same quality products as we do. There were even high end shower gels and shampoos provided but again, we'd taken our own as we didn't expect that. In that respect, we were blown away. The vacuum was a very good one too which I feel is important when cleaning up after dogs. The only negatives I would add was that we couldn't use our own frying pan on the hobs (I'm vegetarian so always take my own with me and Phil uses the other one) because the hob wouldn't work without the pan that was provided so, purely for this, 2 pans and 2 spatulas would have been handy and fly curtains would have really made our stay much more comfortable because it was so hot and we had the doors open for the dogs and being close to the water, flies were a nuisance. It was a long walk to the centre of Hornsea but this helped us to do more steps without particularly trying to so there was a silver lining to that little cloud. :) On the whole, we had an absolutely wonderful stay and we'd like to come back again, at least once a year. We love the house and the standard of everything and the dogs loved it too. We had to take Luna to the vets whilst in Hornsea and Peel Vets are a wonderful vet that helped us with her.

One of, if not the best, holiday cottages we have stayed in, and we’ve had many! We enjoyed it so much that whilst there we have booked again for another week… If you are looking for a family friendly, dog friendly house (totally secure garden for the dogs), very well equipped and extremely comfortable, in a great location with great views of the mere, a short drive/walk to the beach and with the delights of East Yorkshire on your doorstep, this is the place for you! Views are amazing., Beds were very comfy and a good height.ideal for disabled hubby. It felt very comfy and homely. We were a bit disappointed that the sofas didnt recline, they were recliners but had no power to them. The plug in the downstairs sink wouldnt stay in so we ended up using a bowl. Also toilet seat was a bit wobbly.Front step was quite high but we always carry a small step with us so it didnt matter. We loved our holiday and would definitely return. The location was excellent and it was sooo quiet. The birds were everywhere! Its only a short walk to the mere, tesco is at the bottom of the road and the seafront is about half an hour walk. Hornsea freeport has an excellent soft play for the kids and numerous shops.A great property for a family break or as a group of friends as there are various sleeping options. It would benefit families if upstairs bath also had a shower over, but we coped. (There were 4 adults & 4 children in our family). Nice steady walk along the trans pennine way to reach Hornsea beach (30mins). Lovely fish n chips from Sullivans. • "There was a problem with a TV not working and no iron."

We contacted the owner via text on the phone number we had been supplied with and he quickly replied, was friendly and helpful and quickly worked to remedy our issues over the next couple of days, with no inconvenience to ourselves . The house was very clean and tidy, we did store a lounge rug in the garage for our stay as we felt it had a strong unpleasant dog smell, we don't have dogs, but the details of the house did say it was dog friendly and we took a chance on booking. This may put us off booking place listed as a dog friendly place in future though. The property had good facilities overall, and was comfortable inside with a nice garden and garden furniture. To make it an ideal holiday home for me it would benefit from providing a hairdryer for guests to use, extra cutlery, oven gloves and dish cloths, a full sized ironing board rather than the table top one provided. In a previous seaside house we stayed in there were buckets and spades and garden toys for guests to borrow which we appreciated and so the owner may consider putting some in this property. The beds would benefit from the addition of some thick mattress toppers to add to their comfort and a full size mirror inside the walk in wardrobe would be useful. The house is in a good location, great view of the Mere, walking distance to a supermarket, the beach, the town and shops and pubs. Hornsea is a nice seaside town with a good clean beach with lifeguards when we were there patrolling a part of the beach allocated to swimmers. Hornsea welcomes tourists and I would recommend it for a seaside holiday. Good parking at the property. We had a very happy and comfortable stay at 8 Mere View Avenue and I would give it high scores in all areas. If the sun had come out more and we could have spent more time on the beach and in the sea it would have been a perfect family holiday destination.

The arrival pack was very welcome. A few things missing in the kitchen like tongs and large serving spoons, could do with a large bowl, we bought some extra pegs as after going to the beach there were not enough to hang wet things on the line.

The view of the mere from the front room was so picturesque. The fire was all set up and ready to light on our first cool night, and there was lots of extra logs and kindling for the next few days. The house looks recently refurbished and was extremely clean. The welcome pack was very appreciated and the additional info left. We would definitely recommend and go again. It is well set up for those bringing a dog and those who are not, with closable baby gates to the bedrooms. Great walks round the Mere 2 minutes away and a big Tesco about a 10 minute walk. Lovely beach and Floral Cafe definitely worth a visit for brunch.
