  • “Superb location in the centre of ...”
Superb location in the centre of the thriving heart of a lovely fishing village on the very attractive coast of north east Yorkshire. The apartment has only recently been created for holiday lets. The apartment is full of character. It is spacious - there is plenty of room to move around in. Good, well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Could do with more storage space for clothes and more lighting.

The property

Set over two floors, this lovely apartment is situated above a sweet shop in heart of the vibrant fishing village of Staithes.

Perfect for a family or a group of friends, this delightful property will be the perfect base from which to explore all North Yorkshire has to offer.

On the second floor you’ll find four tastefully furnished bedrooms overlooking the higgledy-piggledy rooftops of the village.

The first bedroom on the landing boasts a fabulous super king-size four poster bed.

There is also a family bathroom with a stylish white suite including a bath with shower attachment and underfloor heating giving it a lovely cosy feel in winter.

Head down the stairs and on the first floor you will find a well-equipped kitchen with four ring electric hob, oven and butler sink, together with an integrated fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

A separate dining room provides a perfect place for enjoying a celebratory meal with family.

After dinner you can either retreat into the spacious cosy sitting room, complete with a warming open fire, or enjoy a game of pool in the games room.

Just a short stroll from this lovely apartment is the picturesque harbour, where you can follow in the footsteps of the young explorer James Cook as you gaze out to sea and watch the ships pass by.

Wandering the ancient ginnels and alleyways of this splendid village is also great fun and brings to mind days gone by during which Staithes was home to a community of 19th century artists.

Indeed, the artistic traditions of old have continued in the form of the annual Staithes Festival of Art and Heritage, well worth a visit if you’re holidaying in September.

Just a short drive down the coast is Whitby, ones of Britain’s best-loved coastal towns.

Boasting a multitude of excellent cafes and shops, this special town is also home to the ruins of a dramatic Benedictine abbey, inspiration for Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula and hosts the world-famous Whitby Goth Weekend twice a year.

Should you wish to venture inland you will be rewarded by the deep and verdant valleys of the heather-clad North York Moors National Park, home to an abundance of wildlife, delightful flora and fauna and the excellent Yorkshire Moors Railway.

A great base for all the family, Victoria House is the perfect accommodation for a truly memorable holiday.

About the location

STAITHES

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
