  • "A beautiful cottage, perfectly located for a great family holiday in a beautiful part of Yorkshire."

The house was immaculate, excellent size kitchen and bathroom. Main bedrooms were a great size. Clean and comfortable in a perfect location. The owners left a welcome pack which was appreciated and enjoyed, the ensured we were comfortable with everything we needed. Informative about the local area. We used the park and ride to York, travelled easily to the coast and to Harrogate for days out. A great house would certainly recommend and look forward to returning soon.

  • "We had a fantastic pre Christmas stay at Crosslands."

The facilities seemed practically brand new and the property was the cleanest we have ever stayed in. Furthermore there were some really nice personal touches, with Christmas decorations up and some small gifts waiting for us which was a lovely surprise and one that the kids were delighted with. It was also really well located for our day trips into York. All in all a super stay.

  • "I can only repeat what a previous guest has written: Outstanding!"

A lovely house with all the comforts you need and more. Exemplary cleanliness with a nice garden sitting area surrounded by fields and very peaceful. Walking distance to the friendly pub The Fox. The location is ideal for visiting York, the coastal towns and the main attractions of North Yorkshire. The Coastliner bus takes you to York and the coast and stops at the end of the track. Perfect! We wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting again. Thank you Catherine and Geoff.

  • "Marvellous cottage set in open countryside yet convenient to York and the coastal towns of Whitby and Bridlington."

Also close to Castle Howard. Great hosts who ensure you are comfortable in this very cosy, well equipped, bright and very clean cottage. Would recommend without hesitation if you want all the comforts of home in a tastefully renovated cottage with sheep, rabbits, squirrels, horses, deer and wild birds in the nearby fields yet a few hundred yards from a lovely village. We would return in a heart beat. Many thanks to Catherine and Geoff.

Clean comfortable and cozy all facilities that you would need. I would say however if you had mobility issues the stairs would be a but challenging as they are a bit steep.

  • "Our original holiday fell through (they had water cut off) and so we booked this the night before our stay (thanks so much for saving our holiday)."

The house looks like is has been recently refurbed, new kitchen, carpets etc and was lovely, warm and comfy. Great to see it properly equipped as well - we have been to some places where there is a kitchen, but no sharp knives, or baking trays etc so yo can't actually cook, not here all good to go. The location was a little out of the village, so it would be tricky without your own transport. But with a car it was really easy to get into York and we had a great time exploring (and it's a v short drive to a retail park which was handy for getting food). All in all we had a great stay, highly recommended. (And thanks for the milk/goodies etc on arrival, a lovely touch...)

The entire Property was beautifully presented and very clean. The Kitchen is very well equipped for a Family of 6 Adults. Everyone loved the Bathroom. The Property is in a great location to access York City with the bus to York going from the end of Barr Lane. Although it is close to the busy A64, we never heard the noise of the traffic. Catherine and Geoff were very pleasant to talk with. We would love to return

Be greeted by off-road parking before entering the spacious kitchen/diner for a refreshment after your journey.

The contemporary space features cream units with an electric range cooker to prepare home-cooked meals and a dining area to catch-up on the day’s adventures at mealtimes.

The sitting room is the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring North Yorkshire, with a sofa and armchair to read or watch the Smart TV.

Patio doors lead out to the large lawn; here you can savour a glass of wine on balmy evenings and admire the peaceful setting.

As the day draws to night, retire inside and venture upstairs to find the family bathroom for a soak in the large bath or a rinse in the separate shower.

There are three pleasant bedrooms with countryside views, two doubles with Smart TVs and a bunk bedroom, ideal for younger ones.

Surrounded by open countryside, in the quiet village of Stockton on the Forest, less than 5 miles from York City Centre, 2 Crosslands is the ideal base from which to explore: The Medieval city of York, its winding streets and majestic Minster.

In addition there are a myriad of visitor attractions including The Jorvik Viking Centre, National Railway Museum, York Castle Museum, York’s Chocolate Story, Clifford’s Tower, Treasurer’s House, Fairfax House and much more.

You can also enjoy York’s many bars, restaurants, art galleries, theatres, ghost walks and bespoke shops including the Designer Outlet, and not forgetting a day at the races.

Also within easy reach of the cottage are the Yorkshire Wolds and North Yorkshire Moors, both a walkers’ paradise together with the Howardian Hills and the stunning Castle Howard house and estate.

You can also visit the nearby market towns of Malton and Pickering where you can catch the famous steam railway travelling across the moors to the East Coast with stops along the way in Heartbeat country.

In addition The Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, Eden Camp, a World War 2 experience, and Flamingo Land and Zoo are all short drives away.

Within easy reach you will find the stunning East Coast including the Fishing Town of Whitby, home to Dracula, its Abbey and cobbled streets.

Heading south, Robin Hood’s Bay and Smugglers’ Cove with its scenic houses and alleys, and the seaside towns of Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington which have something for every age.

Best of all, for those not wishing to take the car, The Coastliner bus leaves from the lane end every hour from Leeds to the East Coast and is noted as one of the most scenic rides in the country as it winds its way through beautiful countryside, dales, moors and an array of pretty villages; the return service can be used to access York City Centre and beyond.

2 Crosslands has an envious location providing something for everyone, from peace and tranquillity in its private garden to a city and a beach.
