  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our week in a very comfortable accommodation in pleasant surroundings and a very warm welcome and helpful suggestions from Phillipa and Paul who were always available if needed."

    The food and staff in their cafe was excellent .

  • "The property is one of the best I have been to but the owners just need to bite the bullet and invest in proper WiFi."

    The book in the cottage advised that you can access Netflix but using your own account, I would have loved to but the WiFi connection wasn’t up to the task. The cottage is advertised as having WiFi but for 95% of the time it was not working. Apart from that, the property is situated ideally for access to York. The cafe was really very good. The conservatory is great and we used it all of the time. A great property, the only issue is the WiFi.

  • "Lovely, restful Conservatory with great countryside views."

    Plenty of excellent accommodation. Close to 'Park & Ride' for York central and excellent shopping centre. For improvements: Pebble path to front door difficult to wheel cases over. Overall, would definitely use again.

  • "Amazing cottage!"

    The hosts, Paul and Philippa, didn't just provide "holiday let", they provided a home from home with all the little things that make it just that. There were loads of travel ideas and tips provided to help you and the cottage itself was just gorgeous. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay if you want to visit York and the surrounding area. Yes, it is on a very busy road, but you couldn't really hear it in the cottage and getting out onto the road wasn't that bad. It definitely would not put us off, in fact, we can't wait to go back!

  • "We loved our stay -the location is peaceful, Paul and Phillipa were welcoming and quick to help with everything we needed."

    The kitchen was well beyond our expectations - it had everything we needed to easily eat in. The location is also great as a home base for exploring everything in North Yorkshire!

  • "Couldn't fault."

    This property is exceptional and ideally located for visiting York, Whitby, Scarborough and the surrounding areas. There are many local village pubs to choose from serving food as well as the Highwayman Cafe onsite for breakfasts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very spacious, newly modernised property with a lovely conservatory. The owners are available and friendly but not obtrusive. Definitely recommend it!

  • "Absolutely beautiful place to stay."

    A home from home, all the extra little touches were amazing. The owners have gone above and beyond to make the Granary extra special. Exceptionally comfortable bed and the large walk-in shower is great. Lovely sitting in the conservatory looking over the peaceful fields at night. There is an information sheet which the owners have put together which lists local taxi firms (which we used), directions to two local retail parks (which we visited-fab) and lots of other little pieces of very useful information .The Highwayman Cafe (which is infront of the Granary) serves lovely food, its exceptionally clean and the staff are really lovely too, even making something for us to take over to the Granary. The Granary is an ideal location to visit the area-we went to York, Scarborough, Bridlington, Filey, Whitby and other little areas too. The pub in Stockton-on-the Forest served the most amazing homemade pies and they were very welcoming. We stayed a week and could have stayed longer. Highly recommended!! Rob & Julie Hilton

  • "The owners of this property are amazing they go above and beyond to make your visit one to remember."

    Amazing views and you might think been next to a major trunk road it would be noisy, far from it! We had the windows open our entire stay due to the one off amazing British weather and slept like baby’s so quite and peaceful and the bonus of a cooked breakfast less than 20 yards away. We will be definitely be returning. Thank you Phillipa and Paul for such an amazing time from all of us

About the location

YORK

Leeds 25 miles;

The city of York needs no recommendation, for it teems with interest for the holidaymaker: the Minster, its medieval walls, boat trips on the River Ouse, York Races, museums(including the famous National Railway Museum and the Castle Museum), and the internationally-renowned Jorvik Viking Centre and its "time trip" experience. Summer and winter, there is something to fascinate the whole family. Explore York’s quaint streets and hidden corners, or take an excursion further afield to the Dales, Moors or the coastal resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. Yorkshire is rich in stately homes, with Harewood House and Castle Howard just two of several within an hour’s drive.
