  • "Due to a personal circumstance we needed to book somewhere for the same day for several nights."

I found the cottage on Sykes and placed the enquiry. Within minutes somebody had contacted me from Sykes saying they had made the request with the owner and would get straight back once they had gained approval. The whole process was very quick and the customer service from Sykes was first class. The owner (Carl) was also brilliant, when I explained the situation he wanted to help in any way he could, he even offered us an extra night which was an amazing gesture and greatly appreciated. Thanks to you all, you made a difficult situation a whole lot better. The cottage was perfect and Stokesley was a beautiful market town. On one of the evenings I walked up Roseberry Topping (about 10min drive) which gave amazing views of the surrounding area. I would highly recommend the cottage, town and area as a whole.

  • "This really is a very beautiful cottage."

Tastefully furnished with everything you could possibly need. One of the best holiday cottages I have had the pleasure to stay in and I have stayed in a lot! Carl the owner was so helpful and friendly and the welcome wine and biscuits were a lovely extra as were the lovely fresh flowers that were in the house. The location is fantastic with lots of great cafes and restaurants right on the doorstep. Do not hesitate to book this place it really is fabulous. I will definitely be planning another stay. Thankyou Carl

  • "Stokesley provided a great base, shops and restaurants were varied."

. Comfortable bed and good shower. Stairs may be a problem for guests with less mobility. Very close to the market square, stalls set up early on market days.(Friday & Saturday). We always found a parking space close to the cottage on college square.

  • "A real gem in a perfect setting."

Beautiful home in the centre of Stokesley. Very close to a variety of shops from bakeries, butchers and pharmacy to access to a variety of wonderful places to eat out. Host Carl provided lots of information on local places to go. Beds comfy, internet available and one tv in main room. Parking was not a problem. A great escape from the rat race and technology. The Friday market was so quaint with wonderful food for all diets. The only down side was we didn’t book for longer!!! Thanks to Carl and his sister …will definitely be back.

  • "Just returned from a lovely stay, beautiful clean cottage with everything you need."

We loved the quirky decor and touches such as fresh flowers around the house. The “top” room is lovely for sitting with a glass of wine or a coffee people watching ! We used as a base to travel but Stokesley is lovely, some nice bars/bistro/delis and nice local dog walks. We arrived early and had the pleasure of meeting the owner who invited us on for a glass of chilled wine. Definitely recommended.

Spotlessly clean and attention to detail was apparent. A central location in short walking distance from all shops, bars, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Stockesley is beautiful to walk around with its riverside walks and historic buildings and houses.

The place is full of lovely artwork and furnishings. Our son loved having the top floor to himself and the view. Kitchen has everything you need. We would have preferred a dishwasher instead of the small freezer but that’s not a big deal. Also a coat hook or hatstand for wet clothes. We had a great stay and were all very cosy. Thanks to Carl who was an excellent host. We will be back.

  • "We felt it was not visable to travel and would be inresponsible due to covid-19 situation near Stokesley so close to the Middlesborough lock down."

We rang and asked if we could defer the date to spring next year, the owner refused our request. We were very disappointed at his decision as that part of Yorkshire, Middlesbrough, and the Cleveland area we have enjoyed many times in the past. So we felt we could not comment on the property. We are sure that we will use your company again in the future. As your staff were helpful.

As would be expected in an older property, the stairs are steep-ish but were easily managed by ourselves and our two teenage boys. The owner was very welcoming and helpful, leaving milk and biscuits in the fridge, and even providing chilled watermelon for the very hot journey home. Our dog was also well cared for with a super-comfy dog bed and dog treats left by the owner. Stokesley is a lovely town and has everything you could need right on the doorstep of the cottage, with a very good selection of independent shops and restaurants within easy and level walking distance. Stokesley is also well placed for exploring North Yorkshire as a whole. We will definitely be visiting this area again and would happily stay at 5 College Square. Thank you for a super holiday.

Every item in the house had been chosen to make the stay both practical and delightful. The items of furniture and art gave the house a creative, artistic atmosphere. Parking appeared to be difficult in the day as there was very limited signage... It was fine overnight. The fridge and cupboards were set up to allow tou to arrive and have a refreshing drink and snack. I loved it.

About the location

STOKESLEY

Great Ayton 3 miles; Saltburn-by-the–Sea 14 miles.

Stokesley is an attractive, elegant, historic market town which was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, with many interesting Georgian and Victorian buildings. The River Leven flows through the town and is crossed by the ancient Pack Horse Bridge. Levenside provides visitors with a peaceful riverside walk, well planted with trees, as a contrast to the bustle of the High Street. The town has a distinguished wide cobbled main street lined with Georgian and Regency buildings. It is well served with shops, banks, public houses and restaurants and the weekly Friday markets are held on the main square. Just off the market square is the Church of St Peter & St Paul which has woodwork carved by the Mouseman of Kilburn. Surrounded by the Cleveland Hills and close to the northern edge of the North York Moors, Stokesley provides an ideal base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales, the heather clad North Yorkshire Moors and the pretty market towns of Great Ayton, Northallerton and Thirsk. The seaside spa resort of Saltburn is 30 mins drive away whilst Whitby, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are within easy reach.
