  • "We’ve stayed at The Cottage numerous times and love everything about it; the only problem we have is leaving at the end of our stay."

The Cottage is tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and very well equipped, with everything you could possibly want or need for a relaxing break. It’s a spacious cottage, but still very warm and cosy. The sofa in the lounge is particularly comfortable, and much needed after a long day out walking. The bed and pillows are comfortable, and the bedding is excellent quality. The Cottage is situated on a quiet street, with only a short walk to the village centre. Overall, an excellent cottage, and a credit to Amanda (the owner).   ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Spotlessly clean .furniture and beds Comfortable, bed linen and towels top quality. Everything you could possibly need and more Lovely welcome tray and cake. Amanda had offered a pass for Dalby forest which we used and that was fantastic, especially as it had snowed the night before . The village is beautiful ,which we knew as we go regularly, but was lovely to stay so close . Will be booking again as on of the best properties we have stayed in Thank you Amanda

We have had a wonderful stay in this immaculately clean and tidy cottage. Everything you could think of was provided along with a welcome pack and a delicious cake. Towels, bowls and toys are provided for our 4 legged friends and there is a lovely big garden which is fully enclosed for them to roam around in. Thornton le Dale is a lovely village (even in Winter) and Pickering is only a short drive away with other places of interest within easy reach. The cottage is in a quiet area just a 10 minute walk into the main village. Amanda is a lovely host and we can't wait to return, hopefully soon!

Faultless and spotless like always. We love this little cottage it has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxed week away. The sofa is soooo comfy if we could pack it in the car we would!! Amanda has done a fantastic job with the cottage. She has decorated it beautifully for Christmas put a smile on both our faces to see a beautiful tree in the living room. Fantastic Christmas holiday. We both had a great time and our dog too! He loves the garden and all the great walks in the area (dalby forest in particular). Amanda is so helpful if you need anything during your stay. All in all a fantastic cottage and a fantastic host. Would highly recommend. Hopefully see you next year for our third visit! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year xx

  • "Cottage was Ok, but the parking was not."

No street lights meant that it was very dark outside and there was a steep bank to the cottage. Steps on the bank were sloping and in my opinion were dangerous. Recommend an outside light be fitted to the front door of the cottage as coming in at night was NOT good.(in fact I feel it was unsafe). Cottage itself was OK, but the shower was not. The heating control was almost immovable and the water was very hot. Kitchen. Christmas mat was slippery , kitchen was well equipped. Bedroom. Bed was comfortable. Living room. Sofa has seen better days and is very soft. Christmas tree was a nice touch. and we had to move it (minor detail)

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you had issues with parking at the property - this is not something I have experienced at all during my time there, or that has been reported by other guests. We have had a mixture of guests with a range of mobility who have also never raised any issue with the few steps to reach the property as these are not what I would call steep. It has previously been discussed whether a light could be added to the exterior, but due to the priximity of the neighbouring properties and frequency of movement on this road - it is believed that a motion sensored light would cause quite a disruption to the neighbours facing. The sofa is just a few years old and from guest feedback is generally found to be comfortable, although I appreciate this is a matter of personal preference. My number is provided so that guests always have an opportunity to call with any in property issues, but I didn't receive any contact from you about the shower. It has since been checked and is fully functional, however you do need to press the button in whilst turning to adjust the temperature - a common safety feature to prevent accidental scalding. AS YOU KEEP SAYING ABOUT THE COST OF ENERGY BUT NO HEATING NOT EVEN A FIRE AS A BACK UP NOT GREAT

Hi, I'm sorry that you had such a terrible stay! The cream carpets are there to protect my own property from people and dogs walking in with dirty feet, and are clearly visible on the property photos, so shouldn't have been a surprise to you. Dog towels are provided in the porch area along with a shoe tray. The heating thermostat sits, clearly visible, next to the cupboard where the glasses are kept in the dining room. The boiler is 'on' all day long. On the thermostat there is a button with + sign on it, which, when pressed fires up the boiler and increases the temperature. There is also a large open fire in the living room which can be lit as and when guests like and has been used on many occasions. It isn't disguised, and there is a log basket, coal bucket and fire tools provided, so not sure how you missed its presence. My phone number is provided throughout the guest book, so a simple phone call could have resolved all of this rather than resorting to publishing a damning and unnecessary review Property Owner
