  • “This is our second visit to this ...”

This is our second visit to this location and won't be our last ...

This is our second visit to this location and won't be our last We originally booked in January for my birthday and loved it so much we booked again for my wife's birthday. Karen is so helpful. Shaun her husband is really kind as well We loved the Hot tub and the log fire and the comfortable seating in the lounge area The bedroom is great and the kitchen is well fitted with lots of cups and plates, cutlery and cooking utensils as well as pans etc - just like home from home etc Think there were about a dozen cups 8 large plates and small plates and dishes - Basically it is incredibly well equipped which is very good. Nice shower and a spacious bathroom The doorways between the rooms are quite low but MIND YOUR HEAD signs are well displayed!!! Dishwasher and washer in the property and Karen left us a couple of tablets for each as well as some eggs from their own hens - so really fresh eggs -beautiful We were there while the Beast from the East was in full flow and so there was lots of snow and it was very cold but we were warm inside We enjoyed the Hot tub, just fantastic sitting in the Hot tub with the snow falling!! There is undercover parking for the car and it all felt very safe and relaxed The property is actually attached to the owners bungalow It is really quiet and as there are no street lights its a dark sky area so the ability to star gaze is really good and we had some great sightings of the moon We took trips out to Hornsea, Bridlington and the time before we ventured up to Scarborough - all within easy travelling distance There are no shops in the village of Ulrome but just on the Hornsea road, couple of miles in Atwick, there is a local shop with a cash machine (free) and local shop provisions A couple of pubs around the area offer some good meals, Post box about a hundred yards down into the village. If you want to walk on the beach take the Bridlington road and then take the road to Fraisthorpe and from there you can walk to Brid, have a coffee and then walk back to your car! Highly recommended

The property

Skipsea 1 mile.

This attractive, single-storey barn conversion adjoins the owner's property on the edge of the small village of Ulrome, one mile from the coastal village of Skipsea.

With all ground floor accommodation, it provides a lovely romantic retreat for couples wanting to explore the coastline, discover the Wolds and spend time visiting the large seaside resorts of Bridlington, Hornsea and Scarborough.

Offering a bright and cheerful open plan living area with exposed timbers, there is a well-equipped modern kitchen, a dining table and comfortable seating set around a cosy woodburner.

Furnished to a high standard throughout, the pretty bedroom leads off from the sitting area and the fully-tiled shower room has a large overhead shower.

Guests also have access to one acre of fields, with a pond and seating.

The surrounding area is ideal cycling country, with country lanes and trails to follow, while walkers will delight in the gently rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds.

Nearby, Skipsea caters for everyday needs and has access to the coast and beach, whilst the traditional seaside town of Hornsea lies just seven miles away.

It offers a fine promenade, ornamental gardens and Hornsea Mere, the largest glacial lake in Yorkshire, where one can partake in watersports, fishing and boating.

About the location

Hornsea 6 miles; Bridlington 9 miles; Driffield 11 miles; Beverley 15 miles.

The village of Skipsea is situated in the Yorkshire Wolds, in a typically rural setting surrounded by rich, agricultural land, yet Skipsea also sits within one mile of the beach and is close to the cliffs of the North Sea. The village has its own Post Office, general store and tea room, a hairdresser’s and a pub. Many of the houses in the village, both old and new, use cobbles from the sea shore in the building. Just outside the village are the remains of Skipsea Castle. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking and cycling, whilst the nearby seaside towns of Bridlington and Filey boast long sandy beaches and numerous resort attractions. The Deep Submarium at Hull, Sledmere House and Burton Constable Hall are within 20 miles, whilst the shops, cathedral and museum of historic York, the resort town of Scarborough and the North Yorks Moors Steam Railway at Pickering are within an hour’s drive, and Whitby is just a little further, making Skipsea a superb base for a relaxing holiday.
