The property

This Victorian cottage enjoys a tranquil location less than a hundred yards from the River Ouse where guests can choose to cross the Millennium Bridge and delight in the amenities of Rowntree Park or take the short ten minute stroll along the tree-lined river walk into the centre of York.

Along the street itself, there is a traditional CAMRA listed pub and artisan café, with a convenient bus stop, hairdressers and supermarket at the top of the street.

There is on street parking.

Tastefully furnished throughout, this beautiful property offers an ideal location for guests who wish to explore the vibrant city of York, for those seeking a quiet romantic setting for a relaxing break, or indeed a base to explore the delights of North Yorkshire.

The original tiled forecourt at the entrance to the property is entered through a wrought iron gate.

The front door opens into a cosy parquet floored sitting room and is furnished with a 2 seater sofa and armchair with stairs leading to the first floor.

The gas central heating is supplemented by an electric stove.

There is a spacious well equipped kitchen/diner with the original decorative range fireplace, which is a unique addition to the room.

Moving up a steep stairway you will arrive at the main bedroom, traditionally styled in a floral design and enjoys a deep piled white carpet in keeping with the property.

This room has ample storage space with a walk in wardrobe and tallboy.

The second white-carpeted bedroom again is traditionally furnished with a spacious day bed and bamboo desk.

The original fireplace houses a collection of books and the room is an ideal space in which to unwind.

The beds in each room benefit from memory foam mattresses to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep.

The tiled bathroom has a bath with a spa shower and, above the basin, is an electric lit mirror for your convenience.

To the rear of the property sits a small south facing area with a bench and table, suitable for relaxing and enjoying a peaceful afternoon.

Further into the City of York, you can admire the medieval walls and make boat trips on the River Ouse.

If you wish to travel further, you can visit the museums or take an excursion to the Dales, Moors or the coastal resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay.

A quiet retreat for a central York adventure.

YORK

The city of York needs no recommendation, for it teems with interest for the holidaymaker: the Minster, its medieval walls, boat trips on the River Ouse, York Races, museums(including the famous National Railway Museum and the Castle Museum), and the internationally-renowned Jorvik Viking Centre and its "time trip" experience. Summer and winter, there is something to fascinate the whole family. Explore York’s quaint streets and hidden corners, or take an excursion further afield to the Dales, Moors or the coastal resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. Yorkshire is rich in stately homes, with Harewood House and Castle Howard just two of several within an hour’s drive. A cycling city boasting two theatres, character pubs and great shopping, York has it all.
